I am an old musician trying to learn to sing for the first time after 25 years of only playing instruments… I’ve been doing it for six months now, just watching KZread videos and trying to figure it out for myself… This brief conversation was the best class that I could take… Great insight from high-level professional singersthank you all

FRIEND. YOUR BEST FRIEND. Especially for singing in your mix and for belting!! Takes a lot of weight off the vocal folds, you can sing easier for longer. I understand how it can sound strange in your head though, especially if you're not used to doing it. Justin is right though, I was probably doing it for a long time before I even knew what it was. Maybe you don't necessarily want or need to do it *all* the time, but mastering that nasal resonance is a crucial skill all singers should have in their toolbox 🎶🎤

I have to sing “sweet child of mine” on Friday. For a means to an end, I’ve embraced nasal resonance to get through an hour or two set lists. Nasal resonance also helps if I’m fading out of my mix voice (often), to rest my larynx, and re capture plonation (Hard to explain) but it’s kind of like a default button when tensions rise

As part of my vocal warm-up every day, I make sure to incorporate nasal resonance. It’s definitely part of my routine and I learned it from Justin. I think Take 6 naturally sings with nasal resonance in some of their songs. Great group and nice interviews with these men.

I think these guys use more nasal resonance than they may think. Just not the exaggerated form that is whiny. But you can hear the ring in their voices that comes from NOT singing solely in the mouth.
