Actually, as a lifetime amatuer astronomer, I realize space is vast and the earth, although large to us, in the vastness of space, becomes a tiny speck....and actual impact is slim indeed. Around the new millenium, my niece contacted me (as the family astronomer) about the immanent imapct of the approaching Nibiru...at the time I hadn't yet even heard about it. I did some quick checking and told he to quit worrying about it as it was all hype. I don't really think she fully believed me, but ever since, I have been her 'go to' about astronomical issues. I grew up in the rural Oregon countryside where our nearest neighbor was 1/4 mile away....and the night sky was really dark....and learned the night sky. Just FYI....I saw my first total solar eclipse just east of Portland, OR....took a week off from work and drove 1000 miles to do so. Three years ago, saw a fantastic total solar eclipse low over the snow capped Andes Mountains in Argentina......my 10th and my 2nd wife's 4th. While there, we met a man who was witnessing his 22nd...they are addicitive. My high school in OR had a total student body of 250. In 1956, my folks moved to CA and the 'new' school had 1800 students with 425 in the graduating class. Even with two years of attending, there were only a few I really knew and I wonder just how many I'll know/recognize at this reunion? However, I AM really looking forward to it. BHE

Yeah really. That isn't the right name of the asteroid. It's asteroid Ahpois that is orbiting us and that motherfucker has a low chance of hitting us and even at that it's to small to wip us out like the dinosaurs ths asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was 30000km wide and (i think i was wrong but maybe i was right like asteroid Ahpois is orbiting us and the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was way bigger than that the asteroid now can only destroy a whole country not even human race just a whole ass country)

A local observation satellite in orbit between the sun and earth could be designed and orbited in an orbit similar to Mercury's, could it not? Like dedicated to the task to fill the gap?

This video states we are overdue, however there is a big window that we could be hit. Yes, we are in that window now, however, we have just entered it. They are about 3000 coming into view every month. Florida just hit a meteor with a missile on a video taken a few months ago. They were ecstatic as this appearantly was the first time. So perhaps they know something.

You can't pick up rocks with radar. They don't emit much light like a Metal object or a Star. You have to detect very faint moving images and use computers to work out where they are going.

@@spaceted3977 I can assure you the AN/APG-68 fire control radar in the F-16 can in fact detect rocks. For example mountains and can even act as ground penetrating radar. However it can’t detect cruise missies. I’m not kidding. However, those equipped with the new AESA radar can.

Wtf are either of you even talking about. We’ve been controlling a rover on mars for years. We control satellites in space, cameras etc. you have a good satellite you have some reach. You also have time to add and or strategically place satellites to extend your reach and avoid any orbital disruptions.
