Napoli | Pearls of Italy

"See Naples and die" ("Vedi Napoli e poi muori") is the famous expression popularized by poet and novelist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe after his visit to Napoli.
And it is precisely that same beauty, made up of unique views, marvels of the past, and warmth of the local people, which mesmerizes the tourists who visit Napoli today, the same way it did to the European travelers who passed through the Parthenopean city during their Grand Tours in the XVIII century.
In this second episode of Pearls of Italy, we will walk on the same streets, enter the same palaces, and admire the same views that for centuries have made Napoli unique in the world, the undisputed queen of beauty, culture, and human warmth.

I visited Napoli for 5 days and couldn’t wait to get out of there, the city is disgusting, trash everywhere, the drivers are reckless, I almost got hit by a motorcycle while walking on the sidewalk, the food is really overrated, I went to that famous L Antica pizzeria da Michele and didn’t feel impressed at all. Thank God I went to Rome after that and got my mind cleared after what I saw in Napoli.

Thank you for your comment. Luckily everyone has their own opinion and millions of people fall in love with Napoli as soon as they visit it. As every big city in the world, it surely has its own problems, including traffic and sometimes cleanliness. It is also true that what it lucks in some areas, Napoli makes up with the generosity and hospitality of its people. Defining the city as “disgusting” means having completely missed the mix of history, culture and beauty that transpires from any of its churches, streets and monuments. The food? I have lived in many different countries with delicious cuisines, including Japan. In my opinion, it is difficult to say the least to find a city with better variety, taste and price. Just my personal opinion (and that of millions of other people that visit Napoli in growing numbers ❤️)
