15 Most Gorgeous European Fairytale Towns
Ойын-сауық
Fairytales are something we’ve all grown up with… telling stories of fantastical kingdoms with often dark undertones… but, while most of them were created for entertainment, or to teach morals to children, many of the settings are, surprisingly, far more realistic. Most of the legends originated in Europe where, at the time, they were seen as fables based in real world places, and many of the villages that inspired these environments can still be seen today. It's time to grab your glass slippers, and be very wary of anyone offering you apples, or who live in gingerbread houses… as we take a tour of the 15 most gorgeous European Fairytale Towns.

I'm English and I would almost have to agree, but my trip through all the Austrian cities, towns and villages puts Germany's neighbour at the top of the list. I haven't been to Switzerland but that also looks stunning. Germanic people can be annoying and brutish but their classical music and architecture is the most beautiful in the world. .

I've been to Europe several times and each time we visit the main cities in the given country (next month we're going to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague, for example). But this makes me want to visit these charming little towns.

Well, Hallstatt is 4 hours from Vienna, 2 hours more you are in Kitzbühel and another 2 hours to Mittenwald. But the choice of places is just random, you can find the same pitoresque places on the edge of vienna.
This was such a fantastic tour. I found myself smiling the whole time. I tried picking a favourite but its impossible. I have been to Holland and Belgium and it really feels like your going back into time. These little villages are filled with feelings of magic and wonderment. You can't help but feel like there is a dragon always guarding the little town.......Great video, great narrative. I think this is the best one you have done so far, in my opinion. Really loved it. Sintra, Portugal is full of mystical ruins and a magical road leading up to the Palace. Quinta da Regaleira was used for Templar Initiates and has a tiny Church on the grounds with an Illuminati eye. The whole town is mysterious and romantic. Absolutely love going back there, whenever I can.

I like it that The Netherlands has made the list, but there are towns that are, to my opinion, more beautiful towns than Giethoorn, like Thorn, Naarden, Havelte, Winsum, Bourtange, Haarzuilens, Hoog-Soeren, Oost-Vlieland, Schiermonnikoog, and Urk. Nice, but what a weird selection of fairy tale European towns. The only one that might be included in a top15 is Sintra. I can name at least 200 better alternatives. Why Gent and not Venice, Strassburg or Edinburgh? If this was meant for small towns, not big cities, then Gent (260.000 inhabitants) should not be on this list at all. There are zillions of big cities far more fairytale than Gent. Brugge been one of them in Belgium. There are at least 250 small villages in Europa more interesting than Giethoorn. In France there are also many like Colmar As for Germany, towns like Cochem -Bernkastel Kues-Goslar-Wernigerode-Quedliburg-Trier- Monschau and Fussen/Schwangau ,including Neuschwanstein, the white castle at the end of this film, are much better options. Spain-Poland-Norway-Kroatia-Romania-Bulgaria also have a lot to offer. Must admit it is difficult to make the right choices, but if you only know a limited number of European countries and not very well, then you should have left the MOST out of, 15 Most Gorgeous European Fairytale Towns.
As an Indian iam literally obsessed with almost all the European countries it's my dream to visit atleast half of European countries in my life 🤞thier beauty is beyond words 😍
Missing: 1. Koblenz, Cochem, St Goar (Germany) 2. Chamonix ( France) 3. Bergen (Norway)
And as usual Romania is underrated, somebody didn't hear of a medieval town called Sighișoara. There are others beautiful towns there but this one is the most visited.

There are wonderful places that can take you back in time in a special ways but are not fairytale locations. For example, the Perigord region of France is a dark, moist, truffle centric part of France with cave paintings and beautiful villages. My favorite is Sarlot which has a particularly medieval feeling. Then there is the cluster of small walled towns in Tuscany and Perugia which must be seen. I was once in Sienna for work and found myself in an underground tunnel that was used for offices. These town are full of surprises and the best food on the planet. Other surprises are the islands off the coast of the former Yugoslavia. These islands are beautiful with old buildings that are ready for a fabulous artist to paint them in the colors of the Mediterranean. Oh, I love these places.
