Nn the final minute of Round 7 Inoue is constantly throwing jabs to bait reactions from Maloney with his jab. Jab, Jab, Jab, looking at how Maloney reacts and looks for an opening. Everytime he jabs or throws a right he notices that Maloney counters with his own Jab. The exchange before the KO he has a high guard, level changes, throws a jab -> jab -> jab. On the KO he does the same high guard, does the same level change, waits an extra beat, and then throws the right straight. In round 7 he rested for a minute in a half, conditioned Maloney for 40 seconds by upping his activity and working him to a frenzy, and hit him up with a bait and switch. Inoue is a freaking genius.

Honestly probably my favorite Naoya Inoue fight. Moloney put up a good fight considering the opponent. Inoue still dominated but it’s a closer fight than the outcome would suggest. You can tell Inoue really worked on his defense after this fight though. He no longer takes many punches like he’s taking here and he took from the first Donaire fight.

In a nutshell, his capability of blazing viper-like speed w/ laser-sharp accuracy & nearly flawless that fierce & effective punching skills to deliver must be without a doubt his hallmark & key signature. By having triumphed over Fulton in Japan on July 5, 2023, he is now an undefeated 4 division World Champion. Now he 30yo as of July 2023 & so the question is how long he would be able to sustain those undivided unrivaled, unparalleled, & almost incomparable speed, accuracy, & power, cause those'll be diminished their efficacy as time progresses. Anyone agree w/ me?,,,,,,(08/01/23)

Can see the kinetic force happening from the bottom up until impact. Goes back to them talking about those calf muscles. Many great defensive boxers are confused about their talent. They are so good developing their defensive skills that forget that the best defense is a good offense. They end up winning a lot of fights by point scoring and not really by beating an the opponent. To be an excellent fighter you have to be good at both. Naoya and Tank Davis have both with punching power. Add good reflects, being able to take a hard punch and have punching power and you have a champion. You can get far by point scoring and evading getting hit, but that only last so long unless you avoid fighting top level opponents.

Full credit to Maloney there, he went there to win unlike others who were simply in survival mode. Inoue is something else that finishing punch was perfect.

Even though Naoya Inoue is shorter in height ( 5'4-5" ) & reach as well, what attributed him to be able to triumph over Jason Maloney may arguably be due to the incessant attacks w/ his jabs & hooks immediately followed by body blows & then to the face. These were all carried out by blazing speed & laser-sharp accuracy w/ that impeccable efficacy. These characteristic attributes of his are his key signature, which eventually led to his victory. I wonder if anyone agree?,,,,,,(07/30/23)

Inoue is such a puzzle. I would say the soloution would be to close distance and fight him at short range. Hes so fast at long range but he also has such good footwork its hard to close distance . Maybe a creeping shield style like canelo ? Either way good luck 😅

You can’t really fight up close with him because when his opponent moves in, all he has to do is to take a half step back to have it remain at mid range. And even if you land a punch on Inoue, it’s normally when he’s moving back as well so the force of the punch is taken away. The most common punch that lands on Inoue is the last shot of the one two one combo, but it does nothing because he’s moving back.
