I saw the Dregs several times during the late 70s/early 80s era and they forever changed my taste in music and the way I look at and appreciate the different genres and the skill of musicians in the virtuoso category. It's refreshing to see a musician of his ability and reputation with such a humble attitude towards himself and respect for other people.

I know alot of people will disagree with me but I think SM is very underrated.I know all about his guitar player mag awards and what not from the past.I mean when comparing him to players like Paul Gilbert,Guthrie Govan etc. Steve is every bit as good as all of them and is not mentioned much,at least from what I hear or read.

cast390 I think Steve is a much better guitar player and MUSICIAN than any of the guys you mention. I think a lot of people are turned off by his music because it's different than a lot of those guys. I feel like lots of times they are playing guitar for the sake of playing guitar. Steve is more thoughtful of the entire picture. I just don't see many other people being asked to take the place of Al Di Meola when he toured with Paco DeLucia and John Mclauglhin in that tour way back in the day (I know Al came back, but Morse still toured with them), and that's just one example. I also feel like lots of people can't get on board with the country stuff that Steve does (even though I love it).

I can't help but think that the purple one would look even more awesome without the plexi pick guard.

I love any video about Steve, but my GOD, how many times are people going to ask him to go over his signature guitars. It's been done 10000 times. I can think of 5 videos off the top of my head with this EXACT same information. Not Steve's fault. Guys, think of something else to ask him. ANYTHING would be better than this.

In many ways he is over qualified for Deep Purple, but I really love what the did bring to Purple.
