Steve Vai is my favorite guitar player. If he says it's good, it's good.
Who knows what pickup is in the neck? Seem like there is a single with some sort of rail paired in the humbucker space. Very interesting combination.
One 4U rack case with an Axe Fx III and a 1U power amp will do all this with less cost and back pain. The Axe Fx II will probably be indistinguishable in a blind A/B test as well.
What does the pre-amp do? It boosts the signal. It introduces EQ. Or, it introduces EQ and it boosts the signal. So then, how many 12A#7's do you want? How much gain do you want? How much EQ do you want?
I wanna buy that kid a pair of glasses that fit him

he lacks a rubber band on the back of his head for better glasses grip

Years ago I had to work with Jason for a week. Longest week of my life. Such a self important tool.
He talks about how he doesn’t like digital modeling and then shows his Axe FX in the chain. Love it!

Tim Burle just for the effects
I still cant believe Carvin is done. I have a 50W X100B combo that I love the clean tones. I bought it in 1995. So strange to think Steve Vai walking around NAMM looking for an endorsement / deal.
So how is it hooked up? How is he switching between everything?
Great sounding modules!! Steve Via could make a "Corn Flake" BOX sound great!!!!!
As previously mentioned, Randall did this ten years ago. Wonder why that idea did not take off then?
Randall was doing the modual thing years ago.

Which is something licensed off Egnater.

yes, and i've played thousand of Ibanez ( that i still enjoy ) but, nothing works in clean compare to a Strat or the ES335 ; Vai has a particular sound so no matter where is he plugged ha ha !
That guy should be in a band!

my sentiments exactly...
Wondering if Carvin will take the hint and make a Legacy module with Synergy. Probably not.
Jason told Steve Vai to play us out. Whoa!
Well well. Synergy stock just went through the ROOF!!! Hello VAI
Synergy Legacy preamp By Steve Vai :) GREAT
I see modules on those racks that are not available on the Synergy website.
That's really cool! I really wish he would have turned off the AXFX so we could hear the different preamps better. I love the idea though.
Umm yeah ..... Love ur paling Mr.Vai ... Always have... But one word... Kemper
Looks like it's the Ecstasy & Uberschall from Bogner , Engl Powerball & Fryette Pitbull this year...
He's all over that toggle switch. Hard to tell if the preamp is changing the tone or his guitar. Are these compatible with the randall preamps? Since it's the same dude?
Bruce Egnater is quite awesome.
Rack is back!
Steve needs to check out the Kemper Profiling amp. If he's demoing this stuff he'd be blown away by the Kemper.
The ultimate demo guitarist, will push the Shiite out of any signal.
Someone should have mic'd it better. Otherwise, very cool to have Vai demoing it.
With all the crazy gear he’s played over the years?? He sounds exactly the same !!
Will salvation mods work with this system?
I think they sound great, but hey I also really like Steve's playing lol.
Steve Vai = Lydian
Awesome but what does Glenn Fricker Spectresoundstudios think of this?
+1 for Bruce Egnater.
Anybody knows what pedal produces that "hoot-hooot", kind of tone that he has in the intro? I know, it must be some presets from that Fractal FX of his, but like, if there are any independent pedals that give that kind of effect, I would love to know!
Steve's playing overpowers the modules and they all sound kinda the same in the end :)
I'm sorry but I can't help but think of Bill O'Reilly's freakout every time I hear the phrase "Play us out" 10:14 #welldoitlive
Was hoping Steve would play the Engl Savage
So I guess Mr.Vai no longer used carvin amps? RIP carvin one of the best American made companies. Thanks again for your great products through out the years.
I love Steve Vai, and it's always great to listen to him talking, but boy, was he not warmed up at the beginning, but nice playing later on. Would love for him to get a blusieer sound.. LOL
I reckon the Plexi sounds the best.
He looks more like Mangini every day...and vice versa. The glasses help.
I like those rack cases. Anyone know the make / model? Can't find them anywhere.
His fingers are like beautiful flowing spider legs!
You know you're good when you call THAT noodling.
Why did he return to to the old fret system?
Even his mistakes sound awesome
