⁠​⁠​⁠@@SigartI think it’s putting more focus or a new look or aspects of their character for a difficult medium. To be fair, the whole cast had their harder and more cartoonish elements refined to fit the tone/theme of a live action show (hour drama with horror and humor). Luffy’s almost one track mind, Zoro is more blunt and quiet, Nami’s snarky and grounded nature, and Usopp's lies are a lot more endearing. These changes however didn't cause any compromises on the core of each of them, which comes through perfectly. The reasons they are how they are, their deep motivations and core drives, they're all exactly the same, they're just expressed a bit more healthily this time around, especially considering for a wider audience. That being said, Luffy still has a fighter element but it is translated to fit the tone of the show with Inaki’s personality imbued in it.

Luffy might be clueless and at times and his actions downright crazy but he is a great leader because of his heart and charisma not necessarily because he is the smartest. I'm surprised they didn't both upend their glasses without breaking eye contact with each other while Luffy was got on the table.

I love how they kept Nami's persona, but added a little bit more "girl boss", without making it unbearable like most shows and movies nowadays. Perfect balance of confidence and vulnerability. And it goes for ALL the characters on the crew !! They all have moments of vulnerability where they come crumbling down. Brilliant.

I saw a video comparing nami to other "girl boss" characters in other shows and the main difference highlighted was that nami allowed herself to be vulnerable and not be robotic and emotionless... She's been doing everything by herself and holding all the burden but at a moment of weakness she asked for help and that's pretty great... Oda was ahead of his time

her entire chracter arc was about accepting help from others they fucked up her story in the live action but that's basically why she's likeable despite being a "girl boss". She's confident in what she can do but trusts the crew to have her back and will rely on others when she needs to. Most these Marvel/Disney girl bosses are annoying AF because they can't be helped cant ask for help and need to be better and do everything better than everyone. Even Luffy relies on his crew and without them he's nothing. It's a family dysfunctional but loyal.

Sanji for food, cooking and opponents with superhuman capabilities incase Luffy gets splashed with seawater(Dude would shred anyone not named luffy in a fight). Zoro for his intelligence against regular mobs and overall fighting capability, Nami for her intelligence, planning and navigation, Luffy is basically an invincible demigod until get gets spashed by water thats when he needs the crew the most. e.g first Nami saved him from the water and later Sanji. Most useless is Usopp dont know what he brings to the table but he did got the crew an excellent and expensive ship

@@blinktwice4541 yes, they actually changed quite alot of the strawhats' personalities for the live action, with the sole intent of making them look less like crazy maniacs, their personalities work in the anime and manga (kinda, Sanji I still feel weird, specially after the timeskip) bc funny slapstick comedy, Nami constantly hitting Luffy and stealing from random people, Sanji becoming a heart-tornado, Luffy always having a giant smile, all of those things were "watered" down, they still kept their core personality, but the way they portrayed those were made less cartooney because obviously it would make all of them look weird af, Sanji's still a womanizer but he's more seductive than a harraser the same way Luffy still smiles since (spoiler) its one of the most important part of his character, but he smiles more with just his lips instead of always being a fullblow smile and laughter, since it would make him look like the mfking Joker
