Worth Mentioning the 4Runner is one of the few Toyota vehicles still made 100% in Japan.

This is the main reason why I would buy one over a pickup. My 98 T100 was made in Japan. Workers who value excellence... Not laziness, entitlement, and corner-cutting like USA.

In the US lineup that is
Sarah, the brake lines have a qwinkie tube configuration. Qwinkie tubes reduce excessive vibration in hydraulic systems by smoothing out the pulses of positive displacement pumps. This helps with wear and tear and helps prevent cracks in the steel lines. The traction control system is probably main reason for incorporating this in the design of the brake system. Qwinkie tubes are usually used in the hydraulic systems of aircraft. I appreciate your wit and humor!!

Not only is it made in Japan, it’s made in the same factory as Lexus. Toyota’s flagship factory. It may be old tech but it’s perfected old tech. It may be the most reliable vehicle on the market. Chickens have small wishbones.

I love that is so simple and old school still, feels like its from another era in a good way.
I guess I'm old. I hated the cat-back exhaust on my 2023 TRD PRO. So did my wife after a 600 mile road trip. The drone was unbearable to us. I swapped it for a MagnaFlow Overland exhaust and we are much happier. Love the 4Runner though with all it's old schoolness and reliability. One of the best purchases we've ever made.

I have just never found enough value or upgrades to the trd pro models. No extra power. Not enough tire. Not enough lift. Too few lockers. Too few gears. Perhaps why I just bought a Black diamond bronco Sasquatch with the 2.7 ecoboost. Even with the markup it’s still a way better value.

The magic of video!
If you only buy 1 vehicle for a life long partner, the 4Runner or Tacoma are the best choice.
If they updated it, they would have to meet new EPA standards on a new build. So I can say I am glad they have not updated it. Last piece of old world glory.
You are one of a few people on youtube. That I look forward to watching. Jay Leno, Truck Master, Redline, Motormouth, TFL few others. Thank you for being who you are on KZread. I always look forward to your content no matter what it is. Such a very Smart woman! We all do dumb things. Thank you Sarah!
Coworker has that exact same spec 4Runner. That color is goddamn gorgeous in person.
Finally, TRD Pro! 😃What I love about your off-road reviews is that you have actual readily available testing ground for such tests that other car journalists lack, because they live in urban areas (even Doug tests off-roaders on a highway). Plus driving skills, passion, presentation, production quality - you're a real pro, a TRD pro 😉 P.S. drone shots kicked arse, kudos to Angel

I think she just likes to tear around in the 4Runner. It hasn’t changed since the last review. But I’m still watching it LOL 😘
This was the first video I watched of yours, I just bought a new 2024 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium.I am humbled by your mechanical and off road knowledge! I'm Subscribed!
Just installed A complete rear axle assembly from a junk yard in my 2007 Toyota 4 runner. 205k It's nice and quiet again!
That dual exhaust input to the muffler has a J-Pipe. The smaller one is the j-pipe. It deletes the "droning" of the exhaust . Google J-pipes in exhausts.
Your terrible jokes are fire! Never stop! 😂 And yes, chickens do have wishbones - but not wishbone suspension... Loving that drone photage - your videos are really above top notch now. Beside, I have stopped watching other reviewers doing 4x4s, because they never do your type of extensive off road testing. Testdriving a truck like this on the road only simply does not cut it. I am not sure whether I like the project build videos the most, or the car review videos the most. That means that I will need to keep watching them all! Thank you, Sarah! You are the best!
The S curves and coils in metal lines are for flex, the master is on the body which flexes on the frame, they spring instead of run out of length or bend side to side and weaken the line.
Great point about the tradeoff for the interior. If you want the extra luxury, you should be looking at the Lexus line anyway. I just wish Lexus would fix the approach angle on the GX460.
I have a '21 Pro, and I don't think the interior feels cheap at all. There could be a few more soft-touch materials, but everything is solid, nothing rattles after 28k miles, and the seats are comfortable and easy to take care of.

I love Home Depot buckets, I always wanted one with wheels.
First time starting up the 4Runner in my garage when I purchased it was magical. The roar was incredible and I just sat there revving it with a big smile on my face. The wife came out to the garage and noted it was much louder than our last vehicle. The braking on this thing is awesome, front end rake compared to rear end that ppl talk about is to assist in emergency braking.Thank you Toyota engineers for making one of the worlds best vehicle on the planet 👏🏾
Simple, honest and straight forward review, to all you need to know about what is most likely the best do all off-road SUV ever made! 👏🏻👏🏻🧡
Another great review! Thanks for all the hard work
Loved the addition of drone footage! It gives a new perspective on the challenges of the terrain.
The end of an era, as Toyota will start bitching out the 4Runner next year with a 4-banger I heard the 2024 model won't even have the power rear window. Just cost-cutting, and CAFE Controls.
The drone shot of that descent was rad!!! I appreciate that bump in production value! Made for a fantastic shot. 🤘🤘
I wish they would put the 6 spd manual from the taco in there. It would make the best alarm system out there.🤭 The drone footage makes the review more exciting.

Thanks for the fantastic review. I just bought one in that Solar Octane color! I freakin love it!!!!
Just came across this channel. I’ve reserved a 2023 TRD pro and just been watching all kinds of reviews, impressions etc and this one was by far the most informative and fun to watch.
Great video and awesome footage of doing what a 4Runner does best. It's a jack of all trades but still manages to have a lot of character. I'm pumped to be taking delivery of my '23 Pro in Solar Octane in a few weeks.

More Fig Newtons! Thanks for the review Sarah. This truck is pretty darn nice. Love the colour.
Drone shots were next level. I always like the camera views in your vehicle reviews but the drone shots were nicely placed in the final edit. Also, I had no idea that this had the older V6 engine in it, now I want one. The lack of cajones was the main reason I sold my 2018 Tacoma.
Great review. The drone footage of the off-road section was a nice surprise - gave a better impression of the hill - and you getting 1 wheel up...
I am very happy to see so much similarities between my 2nd gen 4runner and this one - supspension wise, the rear window sliding inside the back door, the placement of the rear windshield wiper, the 4wd stick, etc. This is just awesome!
I REALLY like the color! Even though I'm not a huge fan of orange, it looks fantastic on this vehicle. In my experience, the 4Runner is a heavy beast, so the fuel economy seems quite reasonable. Nice review @Sarah -n- Tuned.
I like the drone video.

It is a shame Toyota quit offering the Magnuson blower. That's why I just got an Off Road Premium. Took the money I saved and used to to install a Magnuson supercharger.

That is the exact best advice I give everyone. No matter what vehicle you want do not buy the first year of that generation. There will always be issues that need to be worked out.

I have been all over off roading with an SR5 with Atrac and have never needed the different modes or a locker. A few modifications on a Off-Road Premium and it would be better than that PRO. Other than some severe off-Roading it would be much better overall off-roader and overlander than a Jeep, including not braking down.
