NAIDOC Week & Beyond: Embedding First Nations Perspectives in the Classroom

In this webinar, our host, Bron, chats with special guests Tramain (@themurriteacher) and Caitlyn (@teaandcountryteaching) about First Nations education and creating student connections to people, culture and country.
In one hour, the webinar covers:
🧠 Explaining the concept of reconciliation for your young students.
💡 Advice for teaching First Nations perspectives into everyday classroom activities.
💫Reframing PD: how teachers are using the skills and cultural knowledge of others in non-traditional ways.
💻Starting your personal learning journey toward embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, histories and cultures in your practice.
They discuss expanding the breadth of students’ learning to focus on histories and perspectives of Australian First Nations communities and how to use these learnings as foundations for helping to promote reconciliation.

Thank you for this webinar. We are in Darug land and have been learning words in Darug & also singing Heads, shoulders, knees & toes in the Darug language.

Thank you very much. I was inspired by the three of you. It was especially good to be reminded of the responsibility of those who do not identify. Would you recommend particular sites which deliver credible research material for primary students eg. when researching the manner in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people used time, mapping etc
