Nacker Yard logic. I need a new project bike (part 1)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This channel is dedicated to all of the other ‘tits in a shed’ out there. Unlike many KZreadrs and ‘influencers’ out there, my motivation for this channel is not to be on KZread. Bikes are a hobby for me and I love my hobby and it is a welcome distraction from, lets face it, the rest of the real world.
For me, this channel is a welcome by-product of my hobby. While, in contrast to a busy personal/professional life, I love the relative solitude of ‘titting around in a shed’. KZread allows me to share it, gain insight from others and, just as importantly seek help when I get stuck or mess something up.
It might surprise you that there is no Patreon link in this speal as it is where most people stash it. I don’t have Patreon and nor do I have any intention in starting one. This is my hobby and I don’t see why I should try and get money out of others to do so. My channel is monetised which brings a tiny income but that is mainly because KZread put adverts in anyway; why not use it to by carb cleaner once a month! You may also notice that very rarely come out with the ‘click like and subscribe’ comment either. This probably doesn’t do the channels slow growth a great deal of good either but I find it annoying when other KZreadrs do it all the time.
All I ask is some interaction. If you like what you see, please let me know. If you know a better way of doing something or spot (one of many) mistakes, then drop me a comment and help me or others doing a similar task do it better next time.
Above all, I am Nat and welcome to my nackers yard. I hope you enjoy the journey.
P.S. I know that Nackers should start with a K to describe the old horse yards but NKY sounded a bit too much like a lube!

Hi Nat, Thank you for your kind words! and Welcome to the wetdream owners club. Whilst this bike was more than a challenge for me, I'm sure it will prove to be a very easy task for someone with you experience. I look forward to watching the result with even more anticipation than normal. Good luck Buddy. 😃

Hey Nat, what a ripping bike! That looks pristine 👌 Without stating the obvious, just rip the engine out after you get a workshop manual & tear it down. Will be peace of mind & always learning more so. Aren’t those rims called Comstar? This will be a fantastic experience to bring it back to its former glory! Will be interesting to watch you weave your magic & for Matt to pick shit out of it😉

Hi Nat. I'm the current owner of Dave, the Divvy you did up. Anyway, we must have the same taste as I was offered a 1980 250n superdream last week and I snapped it up. It has a few issues. Cam Chain adjuster sticking. Carb needs a clean. But she runs. I'll be watching your progress with interest. Keep up the good work Nat.

Dave has a new headlamp and a small wind deflector above it. Everything else is the same. The paintwork is holding up well. The guy you sold it to and I bought it off did neglect it. Next job is take the swing arm off and strip it and repaint. She flys with those bigger jets you fitted.

well, well, well Nat! I'm sure I commented on one of your previous "what bike am I getting next?" vids over a year ago with Superdream as a guess and now you've gone and done it - great! I had one of these when I was 19 back in the early 80s so i will take great interest in this - Bikes of Rye is doing one at the moment too and having a few issues including a snapped head bolt just like Ryan did - good luck!!!

A friend has had a 400 Superdream in pieces scattered around his garage for the last 20 years. He keeps saying he is going to get it running again, but there's always something more urgent to do. Since I retired, I keep trying to nudge him to get started, with offers of help, but so far it still sits there, buried under piles of other junk.

By the look of the left panel it looks well used, but still a tidy looking bike for it's age. Probably worth more if you can keep it close to original spec 👍

Those are the original Honda Comstar wheels. Check the rivets where the spokes meet the rim. Some had a habit of coming loose. Looks pretty much complete. Dont expect too much power wise. They'd struggle to pull the skin off a rice pudding. Good luck.

Nice little bike, check the starter motor is not stuck they do have a habit of getting jammed, I would chuck some WD down the plug holes and pop it in gear and give the back wheel some rocking, looking forward to seeing the plans, a cafe racer maybe ?

Oooh I had one many years ago was riding it about but every flipping time I went out on it it would start leaking fuel from the one carb and only be running on one side so had to limp back home (I knew even less about carbs then lol ,) then I got zapped by cancer 😢 and had to moth ball it for a couple of years in my shed while I went through radiotherapy and two lots of major surgery...which left me weak as a kitten ...so i sadly sold it having never ever got it to run right 😮 good luck with yours I shall be watching avidly 😊and cheering you on ....love the sound of Ivan btw ....I want one lol 😆
