NAA's customer service is second to none. My brother left me a NAA Mini Magnum when he passed. 30 years later I took it to the Provo factory because I live nearby. The cylinder was not rotating properly and I noticed the index pin was missing. The nice lady at reception took it in and said no charge When I got it back it looked new, everything was new but the frame, and that was re-brushed. It was test fired, put it a lockable case which was put in a box. It contained new instructions and they even reprinted a label with the serial number of the gun for the box. I argued to pay but they wouldn't take my money, so I bought them pizza. Figure I'll buy a few more NAA's in the future. They had many on display in the waiting area, I really liked the Mini Master, felt big enough to get a grip on and excellent sights. After that will be the convertible.

Both are fun. The shorty barrel tends to keyhole a lot, but the longer 3,4 and 6 inch barrels can be surprisingly accurate. The magnum is WAY loud. That alone should deter an attacker.

Ive found the people who discard the 22lr/22mag as a self defense round are the same people who leave their compact and full size pistols at home or in the car rendering them useless anyways. In south texas you cant even consider anything above sub compact.

I own a pug and sidewinder. Both are 22 magnums. Love them both. Definitely wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of them. Definitely think the gold dot ammo for short barrels is the best.

Was looking at the PUG and SideWinder from NAA and ended up with the SideWinder. Love how it has a swing out cylinder like a real revolver and it came with the 22LR conversion cylinder.

And it rests on a notch in between the chambers, so safe in the pocket. Loud as heck too. Had one for a few years and it's very cool for what they cost.

Very well put video. I got a PUG just to see what it was like. I ended up taking it to the range and had lots of folks wanting to shoot it. I eventually put it in a pocket holster that holds 5 more rounds built in to it and ended up carrying it as backup all the time now. In hot weather it has my Ruger LCP with it. In cold weather my Glock or XDS it backs up but now it is always on me as a backup. Even if I carry a second large gun in cold weather like when mowing in snake country, I still have it on me. We have coyotes at night calling to each other and when walking down to my outbuilding I always have it plus a bigger main gun. If nothing else a coyote should be driven off by the noise. It is so light it is almost like my wrist watch. If I have it in the shop I don't walk right. Now I expect it with my keys to be on me as a pocket carry.

The mini .22s suck as self defense weapons but are orders of magnitude better than nothing at all. As a back up for a primary weapon it shines for close range defense.

I don't reckon anyone thinks this is your go to primary weapon. Its a backup, or the gun you carry when you cant carry a gun. I use it as part of the old military saying, "Two is one, one is none." It beats having to fight someone off with a folding knife.

Thanks, Plinkmeister. I'm thinking one day I'll get the longer version (Pug). Old as I am, my eyesight's not good enough to even mess with the Mini. 'Sides, who cares? NAA will make some cash no matter which I buy(8-). Anyhow, I'm thinking the .22 Mag versions are the better packin' irons that NAA makes...though I hear their little Guardian's not a bad little roscoe. Glad to see NAA thinks so much of our Ol' Buddy, Plinkster. That tells me The NAA folks got good taste.

I have a NAA in 22 mag. Mine is about 20+ years old with just a blade on the front of the barrel. No rear notch at all. The new ones are much improved over mine. I can't hit jack sh*t with mine. I have a range video on my page. Watch it for a laugh. I'm all over the target. Still a fun gun to shoot. I should get a bigger grip for it. Hey by the way I saw you on a news clip the other day. everyone i had contact with who were conscious didn't really being shot with a 22lr. some of the unconscious ones ended up with toe tags. so do i think its the best, no. do i think its capable, yes. especially the magnums. these gun are what i like to call gut guns. meaning very close quarters or in physical contact with your attacker. i have known several officers that have carried one of these in their pocket for a decade or more on and off duty without incident.

very short barrel with very little rifling so the bullet isn't going to get much spin, it will start to wobble and tumble very quickly. the sights are also extremely close together so it is hard to get a good sight alignment. but neither him or the average shooter would have no problem hitting a man size target at that distance.

+The Downtrodden Can confirm the sidewinder will kill varmints at 50 yards and murder snakes at 5. With this caliber the extra 2 inches of barrel won't give you much better accuracy. As a full on hunting gun, a rifle is preferred, but if you're hungry enough, this thing will kill dinner (with practice). Theres a crazy review of the naa "long gun" where he's hitting targets at 100 yards out. He had a 4 inch barrel. Your mileage will, of course, vary depending on how much you practice, skill level, how much you practice, weather conditions and--did I mention you need to practice?

I'd be willing to bet that the 22mag out of that short barrel tumbles. not great for accuracy, but i bet it leaves a mean little wound channel.

They'll make a hole, anyone thinking these cant inflict damage aren't thinking it through. Could someone do significant damage with an icepick ? There you go a 22 will punch holes in you...shoot placement matters.

ROB NAVAEI No. You can get a separate cylinder for the pug if you send them your gun for around 80-100. Otherwise they have smaller models that come with both. I really like my pug and it doesn’t require enough range ammo to justify the cost for the extra cylinder.

22plinkster Can you please make a video about if a .22 is good for self defense? I have watched a lot of videos about the topic but they all come out different. Since you are a .22 expert I think that you would be able to figure it out. Thanks :)

If you want something. For self defense pick something bigger than a .22 it makes a rarely puny sound compared to bigger caliber handguns and rifles. Get something bigger to deter anyone trying to mess with you.

A 22 will kill you if hit in the right spot. A 22 magnum is almost twice as potent as 22 lr. I have dropped pigs and coyotes with a 22 mag.

I'm gonna back the fuck down if I have ANY firearm in my face. And unless the guy is hopped up on drugs, getting shot with any caliber is going to cause a lot of pain. (Unless it's a kill shot.)

Tanner Morrison Why should I worry about sound to deter an attacker. If I am pointing a weapon at a target that target will be destroyed. .22MAG is potent caliber, and top ammo manufacturers are making quality defensive ammo for them.

The problem with a 22 for self defense is inconscistancy. Let me explain...first it is a very light bullet that has trouble with consistent penetration to hit vitals even with well placed shots. It also is a rimfire primed cartridge which is more prone with failure of ignition than a center fire cartridge, especially with older banged around ammunition. All that said a 22 can do the job "if" everything performs perfectly including you. Having any firearm is better than none, however if possible you should reconsider it as a primary carry and move to an affordable reliable 9mm at the least. Will other calibers be suitable? Sure they can be with proper loads and shot placement but the consistency of effectiveness really starts at 9mm. Mick-

I'd be interested to hear about your carry gun and maybe a review of it, even though it's not a .22 LR
