myths & stereotypes about being a translator

1. When people ask you to translate something for them for free
2. That translating is easy
3. Intermediate level is enough to become one
4. Romanticising this profession
5. Synchronical translation
6. Multi-linguistics
P.S. I am only a translation studies STUDENT, not a professional. So there are things that I've been struggling with so far!
P.P.S Don't know what's going on with the light in this video, I'm sorry. I'm just learning:)

I am more worried that I make mistakes when writing the translation. Not in the sense of conveying what is being said, but in the sense where I place a coma or a dash at the wrong spot or at all. I do not have complete masterty of the language. Neither my native, nor English.

I'm a translator since I was 19 years old (2013). I'm completing my degree in Translation next year. When I started I kept it a secret from everyone including parents. People are very jelous and they think you can only be a professional translator if you are old, etc. Specially for a young woman too! I don't see much difference with my degree, I see what I already learned by myself. But I was very slow with other languages, only now I'm starting to learn romance languages. My pairs are English-Brazilian Portuguese. If you feel to talk with me for anything or just talk about the job, you can contact me! Thanks

I would like to know how much time you spend learning English? And what routines do you have for it? Greetings from Venezuela.

Well, I think one day I’ll make a video about it! I don’t have a sustainable routine, learning English is a long and multifaceted process for me 🌸
