Myths and folklore surrounding the solar eclipse

Although scientists can now predict where and when these events occur, eclipses are still a factor in superstitions, folklore and myths, some rooted in ancient cultures and religions. Jasper Waugh-Quasebarth, director of the Center for Folklore Studies at the Ohio State University, joined CBS News to discuss some of the legends.

That last total eclipse in 2017 brought just horror after horror.....I hate to think what this one is going to bring? In Astrology the sun= life energy. So an eclipse = loss of life energy. Its not the same with Lunar eclipses because the moon just = emotions. But our ancestors took a solar eclipse serious. I've heard Native Americans even stay indoors during an eclipse? But I'm not Native so I can't state that with 100% confidence.

Sounds like you heard right actually. Here is a video on it, I just saw this myself today. Not sure if this is soley just a Navajo belief? But it gave me some food for thought. I never knew this. Sounds like they do honor it (quite seriously) but stay inside while they do. Maybe we have it all wrong by making it a “spectacle”these days? kzread.info/dash/bejne/lX6Gw85widHTdpM.htmlsi=ztumVrsCRyyyiaTj

There was a total eclipse in the 90's, I had to go downtown, there was some old homeless women standing on the corner staring directly at the sun (no eye protection) completely oblivious she was destroying her eyesight!

Drama drama drama.... media love a good drama! Mean views and $$$$$$$$$ WE the people long for a shared experience or a kind of "communion" Rock music concerts are like that. Church services are like that. We long to not feel alone and share something in common.
