Cleburne TX 44 years old never seen one. Thought it was going to be cloudy so I I was bummed out. Then miraculously at 10 mins prior to totality the clouds cleared. No words can describe how awesome that was. Yeah I got emotional.

I saw it in Dallas and experienced the same thing! I think the anticipation and drama of the clouds covering made it even more spectacular because once the clouds cleared we saw it!

I stood outside my apartment building here in Indianapolis with people from some of the other buildings. It was awesome. I even saw some solar flares.

They don't often mention the cool breeze that comes and sunlight on the horizon, all 360 degrees. IT CENTERS YOU.

I feel sorry for everyone who didn’t see that

I saw the 1979 eclipse in Bozeman, Montana. The most memorable moment was the errie silence that enveloped the area. Every bird, every dog, every bug was absolutely quiet. They thought it was night. They had no idea the sun would be back in just moments. And like the whackadoodles this time around, the world was supposed to end. It didn't end.

That, according to Mel Gibson. During eclipses, the Mayan nobility made sacrifices of their own blood. Apocalypto is a remarkably inaccurate movie. On the other hand, the ability to predict an eclipse to the second and not being terrified by it is a testament to the advancement of human civilization in general, which is pleasing to the observers who care about their science, culture, and education - although if you watch the Jimmy Kimmel segment asking people what eclipses are, you wouldn't believe any of that includes the States. From an aesthetic point of view, having a 360° sunrise/sunset is certainly pleasing to the eye - for the ones with aesthetic inclinations. From a social (even sociopolitical) point of view, a large gathering in which everybody is on the same sentiment is extremely pleasant for humans, an intrinsically social species. That's why they enjoy concerts, sports, and felt validated when assisting to religious and political events with many others. The Americans, as they tend to mix religion with politics, even more. An event that everyone could agree was interesting, and beautiful, without having to argue whether it actually existed or was an act of government's propaganda/opposition's propaganda/conspiracy theory by either side must have been particularly pleasing for the inhabitants of that unfortunate zone of the planet.
