This is an In-depth playthrough of the Myth Series by Bungie and MumboJumbo under Take-Two Interactive. This series goes in depth in lore, strategy, easter eggs, and other random information about the game. Prepare to understand the story better than you ever have before and get strategies that will help you beat the game on Legendary!

I highly recommend playing the Myth The Fallen Lords with the community plugin called The Fallen Levels.
Here are a list of plugins I recommend when you play Myth II:

There are loads of other plugins and goodies you can download from tain.totalcodex.net so check it out!
HD Total Conversion Plugin (download on Mega):
This plugin has HD sprites and was made by Ooga and Renwood from the Myth community. I talk about it at the end of Homecoming (part 5).

Also check out projectmagma.net who developed the latest patches for Myth II Soulblighter and they also have a few plugins you can dowload and try out as well.
Check out myth.bungie.org for loads of good information for lore and deeper explanations of the game. There are also old forums on there where you can see what people were saying about the story in the game back when it was still new.
You can buy copies of the game still from online retailers such as Amazon though there is not a ton of copies out there. Unfortunately it is not on any downloading service where you can buy the game. Hopefuly one day it appears on GOG (Good Old Games). I wouldn't say it is legal but you can also download the games on www.myabandonware.com. The only reason I even bring that site up is because it can be difficult to find a good copy of the game.
If you have any technical questions about getting them game to run please don't hesitate to ask in the comments or on the Tain forums!
I hope you all enjoy this series and it brings a few new fans to the Myth Franchise!
I don't need any donations but sometimes people like to donate so if that is you then you can donate to me here. Thanks for watching!

Correction to this video 44:20. Covenant fell 12 years ago. The manual says it fell 15 years ago and the Flight from Covenant journal says it fell 12 years ago.

Another correction. The TFL prologue says that Muirthemne was burned three years ago. However, the glossary states that Muirthemne was sacked and burned fifty years ago. This is possibly a contradiction in the manual but you could also say that a few years could be interpreted as fifty years though this is a bit of a stretch. The Ibis Crown mission says that Muirthemne was sacked 110 years before the Soulblighter game, which lines up with 50 years before Myth TFL. This means my graphic saying Muirthemne fell three years ago is most likely incorrect.

I’ve listened to the Black Company on audible. The three main influences the book series has on myth is the journal, the fact that both sides are lead by powerful wizards, and both have comets that are used as omens. Each book in the Black Company is told through the perspective of the company’s annalist/historian and represents a portion of the company’s annals(similar to the journal in the myth series). The good side and bad side in the first black company book were each lead by a group of magic welders similar to myth the fallen lords and to a lesser extent in soulblighter. In fact, the bad side is lead by a group known as the ten who were taken who were ten evil wizards who were magically bound to a central villain and who fought amongst themselves similar to the fallen lords. Some other influences are both have a character name Murgen, one of the taken in the black company was named soulcatcher, which influenced soulblighters name, and in the mission in MTFL were you have to find the deceivers arm, the journal writer says finding the arm is like knowing his true name but better. In the Black Company saying a magic welders true name in their presence nullifies their magical abilities

The internal conflict between the Fallen Lords was also something that made the Story particularly interesting. I guess in Soulblighter "The Deceiver" could follow his own interests because Balor wasn't there to bind him to the "Will of The Leveler" anymore.

One of my all time favorite games that my local buddies never wanted to play because THEY preferred first person shooters like "Ghost Recon" at that time. The game format, cinematics, voices and feeling are just great. The game controls were a bit different than all other games and still are too this day I think. Most game players want the instant gratification of game play action like you could get in "Ghost Recon", "Unreal Tournament" "Quake 1&2" or any sports game at that time. Just like all the "Call of Duty's", "Fortnight" and any sports game now. It was only a few of us that enjoyed a 360 degree take your time to meet your opponent in the middle with solders & archers, blast them with dwarf's and flank them with trolls or a bloated wright. It is too bad that the "Bungie", "MumboJombo" or Take-Two interactive gals and guys could not do more for the next 12-15 years till the "Game of Thrones" craze took off. The cinematics style & gameplay of "Myth" is a golden billion dollar opportunity. If anybody can make this happen I just want 3% of the profits. "Jeoku" deserves more because he is a myth GOD. Just my 3% thoughts. lolol

Myth is beyond amazing. I've never, EVER played a game, or read a fantasy story, that fully evoked the sheer sense of absolute hopelessness when fighting for the fate of humanity. Not LOTR, not Game of Thrones, not Star Trek, not Star Wars. Not even Warhammer 40k. It's just that good. Endless armies of zombies. Humanity's Wizards are no match for the immortal evil Wizards. A human swordsman of the Light is scarcely better than a single zombie. The forces of the Dark are near infinite. A single enemy Trow can LITERALLY KICK your entire army to bloody pieces in less than a minute. A single enemy fetch, with the voices of angels and horns of devils, who war the skins of men as clothing, can blast your soldiers to pieces in moments with blasts of lightning. A single enemy SHADE, a wizard, not even a Fallen Lord, can unleash a "Dispersal Dream" chain-exploding each and every soldier in your army, one after another, in a matter SECONDS. On the hardest mode there's no room for error. Every single mission a suicide mission. And yet... and yet it's possible to beat the game. It's possible to lead your tiny army of archers, soldiers, barbarians and grenade wielding dwarves through literally THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of enemies without losing a single man. Incredible game!

Man, I'm a Myth's saga zealot since I can remember. To be honest I have never truly played any of the games myself, but I have seen the walkthroughs dozens of times. What I love is the lore. I even spent days and days drawing Myth pictures ten years ago (there is an old video of mine here in youtube, by the name of Myth TFL, a deserved tribute), and I have tried several times to make a Myth TFL comic myself. I lack time and, perhaps, talent, but I do love every peace of Myth that I can put my hands on. I even listen the Myth journals frome time to time, in long walks or when heading to work. And now I find this work of yours. Almost egithy videos of playing and talking non-stop about the series. Thank you man, thank you so much. The future of this saga. It can't be hopeless...

Perhaps the forest giants see the using of iron or other elements for preserving or protecting as just fine, since they use the thick forests as a way to protect themselves. Yet the Trow started using Iron not to protect, but to destroy and conquer. It's what I always thought when they mentioned that they "poisoned the soul of iron". Myth makes clear distinctions between good and evil, light and dark, throughout their lore.

Excellent job Jeoku. I really learned a lot on Irish words and their meanings. I really like you delving into the history and lore of the game. I do feel that Skrael are aquatic and can breathe under water still, and it was the cataclysm that destroyed most of their race and left a small portion of them alive. Though they would have re-populated by the time of Alric--also the pictures you posted make them look very aquatic. But this is just a minor detail in a world of many details--and it is also opinion. I was shocked that you didn't talk about Mjarin during the Wind Age, but this is okay too. Overall this is a great video that took a lot of work and time. Thank you for this this will no doubt bring fans back to Myth for sure! Also I think the man next to the Jman, Zerk, and Alric is Mauriac. He isn't built enough to be Rabican and he has the look of a warrior without armor. EDIT: Also I know why you didn't want to go into Mjarin, but I think most people know who he is...

  • @Jeoku

    @Jeoku

    5 жыл бұрын

Hard to say with the Skrael cuz we know almost nothing so you are about just as right as I am. I left Mjarin out because that will be for Myth III and trying to not spoil anything. We know about Rabican's appearance other than the couple of pictures in the comic but you could be right. Also these videos were outsourced if I remember right and they do seem to have some errors like in the Five Champions mission. But it is all speculation so either one is a good answer.

  • @Cephalopod51

Imagine a Myth game that dealt with the first discord between Nyx and Wyrd. It would differ from other Myth games in that it would only involve two titanic gods battling each other for supremacy. I imagine the gameplay as just having two massive units fight each other on miniaturized landscapes, and the environments could be damaged or altered depending on your tactics or magical abilities. The environments of Myth 1+2 do give indications that some massive force caused the craters, scars, and blighted land that you see across the games' world. I wonder if the Leveler's origin had anything to do with the war between Wyrd and Nyx. Imagine what a Myth game about the Trow's early history would be like, back when they were attacked by the Sileh'hei. It would be interesting to play as the Trow back when they were a sympathetic species, before they became a brutish conquering empire who allied with the Fallen Lords. It's a shame the Skrael didn't make it into the original Myth games, because they would've made fun allies against the Fallen Lords. It's good to know that the Skrael would never join the Fallen Lords against the Cath Bruig (we hope). It would also be something just to see the war against the first Leveler, Soroganth the Flayed, be finally made into Myth game. So many possibilities for Myth that have yet to be realized.

Myth is a really cool setting. It’s too bad as a franchise it’s dead. There’s a lot of really cool things that can be done with it. Although, there’s also a lot of ways it could go horribly wrong. Thankfully, the game has a passionate community keeping it alive through mods, unofficial patches, and other things. Too bad games don’t view mod support as an essential feature anymore. Those will keep a game alive long after the devs abandoned it. Thankfully, Halo MCC has mods now (it’s crazy how Halo has been running on a HEAVILY modified version of Myth’s engine. The Macworld map that was released by Digsite gives plenty of Myth vibes in terms of what you’d expect the terrain to look like in first person mode). Do you know if there’s any Zelda Myth total conversion mods? It would be cool to see something using Hyrule’s creatures as a foundation for factions. There’s this one guy who did exactly that for Medieval Total War. Eventually, he ported everything to the 0ad engine because it was so much more flexible. Now he’s cancelled that and is working on a Star Fox fan game using the Freespace Open engine. Speaking of Total War, I remember seeing a Myth mod for it. I talked to this one guy who played it back in the day and the guy said it died because there wasn’t a campaign. Definitely, makes sense because you can only play normal skirmish matches before it gets boring. Having a map with multiple factions is a big chunk of what makes Total War work.

Unless a great developer takes over Myth, I don't trust a sequal. Remaster would be amazing, though. I have not seen Zelda in Myth, but there are tuns of plguons on the Tain website you can dig through. I haven't tried Total War mods, but it sounds fun. The Myth Total War mod wasn't finished, and I haven't tried it to see how far they got.

I was under the impression the Mauls from Myth 2 are Oghre slaves? :o But you say in this video they only appear in Myth 3. Can you clarify? Super cool video though, Myth is such an awesome universe that requires further exploration! :)

  • @Jeoku

The Oghre were slaves to the Trow and revolted but the Trow destroyed them and they are now extinct (reference Myth 3 and Trow tfl flavor text). The revolution and their extinction happen in Myth 3 before the events of Myth TFL and Myth 2. Does that answer your question? In Myth 3 the Oghre sort of look like Mauls but this is was a mistake as the Oghre in Bungie's Tales from Myth comic do not look pig like.

Jeoku, I really enjoy your whole series on Myth. One can tell that you really love this game. I am playing the Fallen Levels recently and in Heroic not Legendary it is still kind of hard because non of my units upgrade due to their kills; as soon as I get to the next mission, the experience is lost. Do you know what's up? Do I need to install an extra patch?

You are on build 454 on the main menu? Maybe try opening the game with administrator mode or add it as an exception to your antivirus to see if maybe it is blocking something when it tries to write to your hard drive. If that doesn't work maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling. If those don't work I would make a post on the Tain to see if someone can help you out. Project Magma checks them periodically.

Im from Poland and I just love the detail you present here. This needs to be remade so it will never be forgotten how great this world was. Even if all the games arent the best it's still such a great IP. Cheers. PS: Is there any other way to contact you directly, like using email?

Randomly coming back to this to ask, but is the fate of the head the berzerk brings back ever revealed? I know where the head is from (I've beaten Myth 3), but I am referring to what happens at the end of Myth: TFL? I don't recall any information in Myth: SB indicating what could have happened. I just assumed they dealt with it considering there is a mission taking place in Madrigal for example. So is it ever explained or just glazed over and completely forgotten about?

  • @Jeoku

    @Jeoku

    2 жыл бұрын

"I wonder where the head is now; we could certainly use his help." - Landing at White Falls journal Guess you are wondering where also. "Something like a civil war erupted back west, too, as thousands of our own men unexpectedly rose to defend the head." - Sons of Myrgard journal Hmmm... kind of sounds like the Deceiver's binding dream. I wonder where that came from? Perhaps the head was destroyed in the Civil War? Or maybe they buried it again :) Who knows?

It's so sad Bungie hasn't brought Myth back. Bungie is great at writing complex, engaging plots that reward you for reading it carefully and finding out it's hidden truths. It's so sad Bungie is currently caught up with whatever mess destiny has become.

"The Sileh'hei were not prepared for the full extent of the Trow's wrath. Even when they ended their attacks and retreated to their mountainous caves, the Trow pursued them. Angered as they were, the Trow hunted the Sileh'hei to extinction. The Trow had learned to war - and now they turned their eyes to the other races who would interfere with them." - Myth 3 Manual on "The Age of the Trow" Seems like Mumbo Jumbo is telling us that they were the first. This race only appears in Myth 3 from what I know.
