I must say, your knowledge of the game is simply unmatched. I know you have dedicated your life to the game for that knowledge. Your point of view towards the game is very different than other coaches which makes it easier for an average player to raise their game. I would have taken coaching from you if I wasn't in India or lacked the financial side being just a student.

I have nothing but respect for Nic but the only area I disagree is that he prescribes keeping the cue level as far as possible like Kyren Wilson. Obviously this does work for some but I much prefer to keep the elbow high and then allow it to drop through the shot (Ronnie / Selby). It’s the only way I can get smoothly through the white and not quit on the shot. As Neal Foulds says, there’s more than one way to play this game.

100%. You are talking about dropping the cue - the elbow follows and simply drops more than it does when we have a perfectly flat delivery. I hit the ball better dropping the cue on delivery - but lose aim, swerve the ball more in error, and lose position / height accuracy on the cue ball so for me cueing flatter gives better results. Kyren is too close to the cushion on many shots as on the break off his cue will lever off the cushion and out of the bridge hand so he needs to lift the butt of the cue higher,, OR deliver the cue flatter (which still results in an elbow drop of course)

Hello Nic quick question, should players with extreme left or right vision centre still all have their right foot on the line of aim, or should they change their right foot position accordingly so that vision centre is more naturally on the line of aim? Also secondly, should very tall players (about 6'3") still have their right foot on the line of aim or should they stand wider?

Vision centre head position comes first, and the stance follows / supports that head position... please check the stance videos on the channel.

Thank you Matt - most players who are below 70 highest break standard make this mistake, which only makes it harder for themselves...

@@TheSnookerGym my highest break is 137 though but I think I have gone backwards a bit, that was four or five years ago. I am looking for a 147 now as I've never had one but I don't think I'm good enough at the moment, maybe was in the past.

Why not apply for some one to one time - I have a wait list right now but I would be happy to read your player profile if you want to complete it at the bottom of this page: www.thesnookergym.com/snooker-lessons

Interesting. I must try 5 attempts to see what my average would be. Once cleared I would usually move on to another routine

Getting points off the table and keeping your opponent in his chair wins frames. Missing blacks and letting him in does not.
