Mystery Amiga 2000's (Pt4) - Finishing the first A2000
Ғылым және технология
To create my 'World of Amiga' display in the Museum of Computing, I start by restoring 2 Amiga 2000's I found in the archives. Join me in part 4 as I bring together all the components of the first of the two A2000's and explore what it has to offer.

It is always interesting seeing what people had on their old computers. Great job fixing that A2000!

Thank you. I always get excited when an old computer has a hard disk, I just never know what I'll find. With a big box Amiga I just hope it's something exciting and linked to TV or game creation.
I also have a box of screws taken out from various devices It's more handy than people would think really!

Isn't that the truth! Saves time and money when you can just access a stash of parts.
It's so cool how these old machines are little time capsules. I love how you treat them with such respect. Someone loved every one of these old computers.

Thank you! I do get excited when I see a hard disk drive, you just never know what you might discover!!
Great videos, thanks Keith! The results looks amazing

...and thank you for watching! For some reason KZread thought your comment was spam, it's a funny old system some days! :-D
I really like that home made midi card! I want one for my 1500 and 2000.

Yes, it's a neat solution, haven't seen a commercial version like that.
I'm used to seeing Atari STs and Macs for midi use, but i was not aware that the Amiga was used for that as well. But then my attention was always on the keyboard models, like the 500 and 1200. I barely even knew Amiga had desktop models until long after i had moved to PC.

All the range could easily have MIDI added (and quite cheaply too) but I guess as it wasn't standard and a decent hi-res monitor was expensive, the Amiga lost out to STs and Macs. The CDTV was the only model to come with MIDI In/Out as standard but that was aimed at the living room.
Great video Keith. Cleaning montage's much shorter than RMC 😂😆

Thank you! Neil knows his audience like a good video of him scrubbing retro kit!

@@TheDigitalOrphanage I actually prefer shorter ones, but each to their own 😆

Thank you! You're in good company with your choice of Amigas, I still have my A1200 and CD32 too, along with quite a few other Amigas. Much more Amiga content to come! :-)
Thank you for another great video! Your meticulous restoration work is much appreciated.

Thank you Vincent, it makes me happy that it's being enjoyed. Any constructive ideas for improvements are always welcome though.
your handling of those pads underneath appeals to my OCD side :-)

Great video. I'm currently restoring my Amiga 2000 as well. Suffered a bit of damage from the dreadful Varta battery.

I haven't seen an Amiga 2000 without battery damage so it's in good company there. Much damage? How's the Amos work going?
@cbmeeks

@@TheDigitalOrphanage Quite a bit of damage. Several broken traces. Mostly pads separated from the trace. AMOS work has been a little slow. Been re-learning some 68K asm. I finally managed to backup ALL of my 1990's data off my A1200. :-)

Little bit of jumper wire and you'll be sorted! When I find some I want to learn some 68k assembler, sounds like I now know who to say hello to nicely if I get stuck! :-) What assembler are you using, Devpac 3?
@cbmeeks

@@TheDigitalOrphanage I'm using vasm. I prefer to assemble on my PC and send to WinAUE (to be later ran on real Amiga hardware). I highly recommend this video for programming the Amiga in ASM: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4eFp7GLg9POctY.html Feel free to contact me any time.

Thank you! I met Graeme at the last SWAG meet in January. I forgot he said he had some videos on Amiga development, it was a such a busy day for me as I was the compère for the event.
I also have a 2000 in rev6.2 with a lot of cards on it but it has been down for a long time

Definitely get that working again! What's up with it?
1:02 you haven't removed the plastic?! Also, box of random screws - minute you said you were missing them, "Yep, that's why I keep random screws."
