#MyFilmStory

Ойын-сауық

We are proud to share the 7th video on our #MyFilmStory series.
This time we meet Lucy Ridges, a visual artist working primarily with analogue photography and alternative processes such as hand colouring, cyanotype, and photopolymer gravure.
Shooting with a variety of film cameras including her Mamiya RB67 and Nikonos V loaded with ILFORD black and white medium format and 35mm film, Lucy works with the nude female form to create beautiful, strange and other worldly prints. Exploring double exposures and surrealism to create images with mood and texture that are somewhere between truth and illusion.
In this video we get an insight into Lucy's thoughts and creative process as we join her on her shoots both in the studio, and underwater and then, into the darkroom where she makes her prints.
02:25 Water and Glass
03:10 Lucy shoots her Mamiya RB67 loaded with ILFORD FP4 PLUS in the studio.
06:55 In the darkroom.
08:35 Underwater photography shoot with the Nikonos V loaded with ILFORD HP5 Plus black and white film.
10:13 The Exhibition. See how it all comes together as Lucy hangs prints for her exhibition.

@@Ilfordphoto Since I started last year with film again. Its percentage grows. At the moment I do 100% analog again...it´s refreshing to do that because the process is a different, much more relaxed one compared to digital. That doesn´t mean I skipped digital...but at the moment it´s more fun shooting film.

Using An analog camera makes you think much more about what you want to achive. With digital, you could just make 100 pictures and choose the best one. But I don't think I need to explain this to you guys 😄. I didn't know Iflord as a brand, but now I do and I'm a fan. And you made a lot of amazing tutorials and inspirational video's! @@Ilfordphoto I have mostly moved to digital in my photography for many reason of health, space, etc however during my many many hours I in the darkroom and shooting film, Hp4 and hp5 were my favorites along with ilford multigrade papers. Nothing will ever come close to that experience in the digital world for me. Watching her talk about the creative process and work in the darkroom brought back so many fond memories. I am happy to see young photographers discover the joy that is analog photography and would love to see more videos like this!

@@Ilfordphoto I am a film photographer who hasn't shed its digital skin yet :D I used analogue when I was younger, even had a Nikonos V and sold everything to follow the digital crowd to realise much later that I could even process my own film. I jumped back in wholeheartedly. Now I am searching for an excuse to set myself up with a dark room. I love shooting FP4 by the way :) thanks for keeping film alive.

@@Ilfordphoto her way to create art is what appealed me more, but I have to say that is really well directed and filmed. Then, seeing her developing films remind me a lot my past at the photography's school, doing that alchemy.. great memory. Unfortunately, now I don't develop anymore, costs are too high and in Italy is so hard to find someone who can do it for you. Btw, in my fridge there are 3 hp5 Ilford rolls😁
