I know you still grocery shop for some things and make store purchases for supplies and clothing, but it still just amazes me how you've built a place in the wild completely free from the grid and that it's of a quality that you can actually live in it year around, if you so desire to. Just so simplistic, yet so bountiful. Such freedom. Thanks so much for your channel and all of your efforts to share your experiences there with us. So inspirational. ATB.

Animals are amazing and interesting to watch. We used to leave food for the wildlife when the winters were really harsh. A true hunter is one who appreciates nature for its beauty and sustenance. You epitomize this philosophy. Have a great week, James. Happy Tuesday from Japan.

I enjoyed the animals at the pumpkin too. I spent an hour watching a chipmunk and a squirrel working on their respective halves of a pumpkin on the front porch. It has been years since that happened, and I had forgotten how cute it was. Thanks for reminding me.

Hi Shawn, I discovered your videos a few days ago and I enjoy them so very much. The house you built is so perfect and looks always so clean and so neat. I admire the work you have done. I like so much the color of the logs. I am amazed that when you drive a nail it is always right and when you put a shelf it is always perfectly straight. I use square or angle and level and it is always very difficult even for easy things. You are a fabulous carpenter. Things seem so easy with you. Many many thanks for what you give us. I am very far (Paris France) and the beauty of the landscape you show us is extraordinary. What impresses me is the light. Except when it is snowing or raining the sky seems always so clear and the light is almost violent. Thanks again. R. M.

I Loved watching the Snowshoe Hare check out the pumpkin at 6:53 and more. First, he sniffs the top of the pumpkin . . then sniffs the bottom. Just cool as it can be. Also, I have never seen HOW a Snowshoe Hare changes from brown to white; it apparently happens from the feet up. SO COOL.

I always enjoy wild life and the forest. It renews itself and never gets old. Isn't it interesting how much is missed by human eyes. 'Ole Cali always stealing the show … she's funny. On your point about security … cover your cabin's door hinges ( pulled pins give access ). Thanks for sharing.

Hi Shawn, nice short video about wild life around the cabin. That gives me sometimes to catch up with your previous videos. You've got already a lot of snow compare to us in Finland. The positive side is the light snow brings, right now it is so dark here. We only have day light from 09:00 to 16:00 and less until the beginning of next year. Take care and best regards from Finlande, Pascal

Hey reaching out for the first time here on your channel. I found your videos a couple weeks ago and have been getting caught up on all your seasons since (currently on Season 2 Episode 14). Love the content and the cabin. Love to hear that you were a fan of Dick Proenneke right off the start as he is always the first person I think of when I see a log cabin. Ever since watching PBS specials on Dick Proenneke when I was 7 years old I have always wanted to attain those skills and live a similar lifestyle in some form. Really cool to have found a channel that is basically in a sense a modern day Dick Proenekke show with weekly uploads haha. Thanks for sharing with us what you do and have done man, really neat stuff. And also very savvy of you to be making a living off of it and showing people that it is not that hard to do and to always encourage others that it is attainable. I am in the process of applying for carpentry school for next fall and hope to in a few years have enough money for a plot of land somewhere in Saskatchewan to do something similar (off grid, sustainable, eco construction and living). Cheers from Montreal.
