I’m actually really thankful you posted this because my school doesn’t have a drumline and me being a senior I wanted to do something that made me feel important so I’m starting a drumline completely from scratch. So thank you for posting this because this is giving me some good ideas on what to write for audition.

This is probably my new favorite video of yours, the editing was phenomenal!
Really awesome stuff. Glad they let you turn this into [DECLASSIFIED] status for our viewing pleasure! Those prepared solos they had you learn were pretty badass.
That "Master Guns" warmup looked GODLY, is it possible to get the music for that?
I love how you cut to the reaction on every tick and look into the camera for that fraction of a second. You rock! Nothing but honesty in this video.
Thank you for all that you do EMC, love the videos and hope you are doing well
😘 Had a great time at DCI Finals 2022, talking to MGySgt Rulapaugh (with others) about this audition. Good Times! 😘
You have inspired me to relearn my old cadet marching band stuff, great channel!!!!

The first eight bars of the triplet roll excercise you play on the snare drum is the same as an excercise my drumline used to play called super stock rolls
I was showing my grandsons a couple of your videos marching and I told them that's what you want to do if you want to be a Marine . Oh ya happy birthday 244 .

Great video. I admire your guts to put something like this out here. Not perfect throughout but great playing. Nice work, man.
I liked the annotations throughout this video! The little white text blurbs throughout were pretty helpful
Hey Marine, thank you for your service Brother. Continue to sound the war drum. Also, here’s a belated birthday shout out to the Corps.
Hey man - fantastic playing! Please post a video that includes all the conversation with the judges!
You are very deserving of being in the Marine Corps Band! Semper Fi!
Eric, I appreciate your service! I'm a singing praise drummer at our church and our Pastor's son is in the Marines and finished in the top 3 of his class and is now an IT expert with a Top Secret (sorry, not the drum corp) clearance protecting our US networks in Israel...hoorah! BTW I never got chance to play quads in HS (single tenor with mallets in '74, snare with prismatic Pro-Mark 3S's from 1975-77 and only basic 26 NARD, ironically after my 1977 graduation they went "full corp" style in '78) but your solos were killer!!!
Happy birthday devil dog! Keep laying down sweet beats
Favorite rudiment is GameCube’s Bass Drummers Stand Uppp!!!
Always great to put audition stuff out there and encourage others to keep auditioning and practicing. Not enough real instruments in this world!
Okay, can I say that that shirt is absolutely amazing
GJ! You killed it!
8:15 wow Ive never seen writen in ghosted notes in an audition solo, those were really good!
I've always been a fan of the inverted flam tap. Or maybe the egg beater.
I saw you on TV at the Veterans Day Parade!
I marched in DCI with the XO of the Commadant's own. That was a great video
It was definitely a marijuana waiver. I've got one of those too, haha. Happy birthday, percussion devil.
Very interesting. Often wondered what was involved. We had a guy from our platoon going to band (orchestra?) for (as I recall, been 54 yrs) trombone but I do recall his name, Bavona, 6'2 or 3+" about 230 lbs, big SOB. Our senior about had heart failure. He was the only one out of the series to make it. He said he was shocked to get the call because he bonked several things, brutal tryout.
How long are you allowed to STAY in The Commandant's Own? Indefinitely??
My favorite rudiment? The one few shall ever master The single stroke roll
I was wondering if you could make a sheet music pdf for your personal solo?? Its very impressive and I'd love to see it in writing
This was awesome
My fav warm up we do is called sixteenth note roles, which is easy m, but just fun to play
Favorite (most fun) rudiments are "bouncing sextuplets" like RLLRRL/LRRLLR. Easy way to push interesting sextuplet or triplet fills at faster tempos. Really good video. You're a ridiculously great musician/performer to watch.
@stevenhatcher9133

Yea those slurred six stroke rolls are fun. Sound great in USM's Pride Jam
My favorite rudiment is ticking in rehearsal on the stuff I spent hours at home practicing
My favorite rudiment is the parradiddle-diddle, specifically because it is very hard to play them fast, they sound amazing on different drums, and if you can do them well and fast, respect +.
Hey, Eric! I wasn't sure if you had already made a video about this so I figured I would ask anyway. Could you possibly make a video breaking down some exercises that benefitted you in your tenor playing? Thank you!
We are going to remember this 18:40
What an oddly specific subscriber goal before your reveal.
Semper Fi Corps Brother!
My favorite warm up my high school plays is our triplet rolls cycle because at the end we just play 11 straight bars of rolls
DUDE U ROCK
My favorite warmup exercise is the triplet flam grid.
Yeah, my favorite rudiment is Meshuggah's "Bleed" too.
Me: brags about getting straight A's Everyone else at the hepatitis clinic: 12:15
This man deadass already revealed it 420k 😂😂 good job bro
Love your channel! Ring the liberty bell
EMC literally looked like he had a full time office job in the audition not gonna lie.
My favorite warm up is measure 45 beyond in the music piece, The Tempest by Robert W. Smith.
For the record my favorite rudiment is without a question the pataflafla!!! It’s fun to say, it’s fun to play, and when you tell other people you’re playing pataflaflas you get the best looks even from other drummers just because of how weird it sounds
My fav rudiment is the paradiddlediddle but honestly you can’t ever go wrong with pugedas.
Who the fuck cares if your first just enjoy this man... very talented man
Happy birthday RAH brother Semper Fidelis

Does anyone know if you can get a copy of "total attrition" it sounds really cool and I want to take a fair have at it. Thanks in advance!
well I think it was just the microphone used in the room on the camera that they had, because your first deep house of every grouping sounds like it was buzzed but you weren't playing at buzz I zoomed in and it was just as clean as the other hits, so so I'm guessing it was a distortion of their input of their audio that they used or the microphone type the head on the camera?
that snare was ringing like the liberty bell
My rudiment is the flambuzzadiddle swiss-dragachudda inverted cheesy tap
@ryandunklee634
4 жыл бұрын
Make sure it’s extra cheesy
My favorite rudiment is paradiddlediddles. But my favorite hybrid is between book reports and blue cheeses.
Favorite warm up: Irish Spring
Cheese chain (its a hybrid for those who don't know) for rudiment and chicken-and-a-roll for excercise (bass split is epic for 3)
Favorite rudiment is a diddle-egg-5, also double paradiddles.
1:44 would've been a perfect spot to put an EMC blooper reel
Double beat is my fav no doubt
Would you be able to release a copy of Street Cred for one Spock? I haven’t seen it in the downloads
At 9:17 giving me those Scooby Doo running sound effect vibes.
Is it just me or does the fact that the tenors are tuned in minor thirds unsettling?

Eric: hits rim Eric: 👁👄👁
I have a bunch of fav rudiments... cheese, flamdrags, flammyfives and swisstrips!!
Book Reports are probably my favorite
Hey you used part of that 3 stick lick in that song Subtle with Atomous
Could we get a transcription of the solo that you did here? I'd love to play that it's amazing
Man actually is the shredder
My favorite to play was definitely "politically correct triplet rolls". Our 12/8 based tap accent was aweome too. I think we called it "12/8 tripple D". But above all i really enjoyed our tap accent. It was called "finish what ya started" and it sounded awesome.
Is the music for Total Attrition still available somewhere? Seems like fun!
When are we getting the sheet music for street cred tho
I likes the one where you hit the drum
that snare tuning tho
love the haircut
good morning! FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Can you put out sheet music for the required solo I would like to learn it if you are allowed to do that
I think my favorite rudiment is probably Flam ddrags. Does that count as a rudiment?
Is “The Commandants own” is it the only band in the Marine Corps and I don’t know about the Marina Corps ranking system but can you still join the military band if you go to officer training. Also do you perform in Tennessee anywhere anytime soon. If so I would love to see a military band perform because I’m looking into that career but in the Air Force.
My personal favorite rudiment is the five stroke roll
Fav. Rudiment is lesson 25
