My Travel Art Kit: Simplify Your Art Supplies for Increased Creativity!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Happy New Year, Everyone! I'm back from holidays, and in my latest video, I'm excited to share what's inside my travel art kit. This mixed media kit is perfect for art-on-the-go or creating at the kitchen table. I recently took it away with me, and it worked beautifully! It's versatile, practical, and compact. Everything fits neatly into a 3-litre Tupperware container. I'm quite chuffed with that!
I hope you enjoy the peek inside, and as always, I'd love to hear from you. Any suggestions or tips around travel art kits are much appreciated! All the supplies mentioned are linked below.

It always excites me to prepare kits for any occasion, snacking on the go, medical kit for the car, packing for travel etc. But making a supply kit for art, that is heaven! Until now I always take too much with me or too little. I have watched this twice and learned a lot. Good to hear your thoughts and ideas on why this and why that. I am in the process of making my own travel art kit now based on yours. Enjoying it, thanks a lot

Thank you! I’ve recently gathered together all my oddball supplies - those that I seldom/never use, duplicates, & those that don’t fit in with my other supplies - into one container along with an inexpensive multi-media sketchbook. My intent is to use them up in a zero pressure manner in whatever way I am inspired in the moment (I’ve thought of drawing fictional maps?). With the idea I will toss it all out in the end - or maybe not. We’ll see how it goes. 😊

Thank you Laura! I have a kit to travel from the closet to the kitchen table 😅. A5 sketchbook, neocolour II handpicked set, water brushes, pencil, ruler and some pens for mark making. Unfortunately it is really time consuming and demotivating to bring out all my art supplies and then put them away 😢, so this kit works for now.

I’m at the kitchen table phase, often struggling to find time, and this was so encouraging! Limiting choices really does help me be more creative, and helps me keep going too. Super excited the podcast is back as well! :) Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Laura. That was fun seeing what you had in your travel art kit. I always end up with a (quite) large bag stuffed full when I’m going away, sometimes just for the day to the beach 😳. So this clip is REALLY useful to me. Plus I have a little art station alongside the couch which could really use a reorganise too! I love the idea of little amounts of quite a few different supply options. That should satisfy the magpie in me hopefully. Now, off to listen to your podcast. Yay!

Fabulous kit assembly. I love the idea of having a kit always at the ready. I’ll be putting one together soon after watching this video and realizing how handy it would be. Thank you for sharing your ideas!

I thought a 3 l tupperware container would be a lot bigger, but it's not! Great video I saved a few of the links for supplies on my wishlist. The inktense pencils or blocks are on my radar. Thanks for the great video and I can't wait to hear the first podcast today because it's a freezing rain day AKA art day😅

Thank you for sharing, Laura!! I love using a portable art kit as we tend to travel a lot in the summer and now I want to try having collage papers and also some stitching supplies! As for the watercolours, I have a similar small kit from Sennelier, but I also have an idea to try using an empty box similar to your from Schmincke and put there a selection of colours that I choose myself.

This is a very timely video! I'm going travelling in NZ in a couple months and have started thinking about what supplies I can bring with me (particularly on plane and fit in a little car camper). I'm still in my art exploration days and always exploring mediums - so it's great to see a mixed-media kit!

Do u swap out your supplies regularly - or does it stay the same. Also do you find yourself looking for these supplies when working on other projects around the home

  • @LauraHornArt

It mostly stays the same, though I do add in a new thing every now and then. I am gradually doubling up on my supplies as I did find myself looking for things. That way I can have things in my art kit but also have them in my studio.
