THE CLASSIC MOLD LIPS BEING WEIRD. YES! I feel like nobody gets this, but I'm so picky with classic molds bc they need to have "the good lips" lol. Also, not me tearing up at the last one. The other day, I was looking at a PC OLD old Kirsten book and in the back it talks about the four dolls they had avaliable at the time and the "American Girl Doll Delights". It just seems so magical and all I want to do is order an old-fashioned catalog and take in the wonder... The historical line is truly the core of AG. I agree with all your points! If anything, I do think we are lucky that the dolls haven't gone up past $115 with all this inflation, I can totally see that coming.😬 And also, I'm back and forth with the lashes...I think they are ok on the Josefina, Nanea, and Corrine molds, but I prefer without and I think they make them look older and they are supposed to be young girls, so it doesn't make sense to me. Great video, I love hearing your thoughts.

omg yes!! the way you had me cackling lmfao i agree with literally every point!! the molds, the dh, the prices/quality, and the historical line ! literally it was the heart of the brand and they are throwing it away; each character was so detailed and i think that’s why it as a brand has lived so long for us and it’s sad to watch them push it and education to the side for cheap pink sparkles (not that some of the outfits don’t still serve, but still)

I think it's really shameful that most of the dolls who don't have heads at the doll hospital are dolls of color. It's expensive enough to find #1, #11, #15, #18, etc. secondhand, finding one in decent condition is nearly impossible, and then you can't have her head replaced on top of it.

I agree with basically everything you mentioned. I'm late to the AG collector game (though I've always wanted one since I was a kid) and it pains me to learn that so many changes have happened. I wanted a Sonali mini-me and had plans to at least try for the CYO line. But as you mentioned, the eyes are too close together and takes away all the beauty from the face (I don't think they altered it on purpose but the production changed and they don't want to change it back.) I also feel the same about neglecting the historical lines. It's a real shame. I may have to really start looking into collecting older JLY/TMs at this rate. I have two dolls, both of them new, but I will seriously start considering looking elsewhere for the dolls. I also agree about AG needing to sell basic outfits that aren't part of collabs and I say this as someone who loved some of them (namely LSF and Janie and Jack.) The clothing fits my aesthetic tastes but they definitely are higher in price. All I want are some nice basic pieces from AG like some white sneakers or khaki skirts. Like what was stopping them from just creating those outfits featured in the collabs...?

The head replacement limits are honestly anxiety inducing for me - makes me handle my Lindsey and Jess even more carefully, and I'm just waiting for the day Caroline joins the list (and god knows basically every Caroline on the market could use a head replacement, too.) As far as the kids and pets in my life know, those 3 dolls do not exist in my collection. 😆

I think you’re right about the thinner bodies. It’s less fabric and less stuffing. Even if it’s 5 cents, it’s 5 cents that they can keep in their pockets 🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean, based on the artwork of Claudie, she looks like just a petite girl, so I think they could have gotten away with her being smaller As someone who got into American Girl because of the historical characters, I’m so sad that they’ve just pushed those characters to the wayside. The old collections used to be MASSIVE, and now they’re not even half the size

I think some of the Harry Potter items are made in detail with good quality. The accessories such as the trunk set that is plastic NO, the hat or perhaps the quidditch set and outfits yes. Its a hit or miss with them now. In the store, if I look for a doll I find some not so good, yet when I ordered over the phone, I have had no, I mean no problems with the dolls and I have ordered that way between my daughter and GD's at least 10 that way for gifts since the COVID. The changes with the eye mechanisms including the lashes yes I agree with you. I found the painted eyes sort of compensate for that. The bottom line is you just buy what you like and love.

This was a very good thought provoking video. I’m actually a Mattel shareholder and have been for many years. Some of the things I think about is their stock price and the fact that around the time of the sale back in 1998 the stock price was around $40 a share and within two years it dropped as low as $9 a share. The stock price goes up and down and it’s very erratic. And I think this is a reflection of what is happening inside the company. The last time the stock price was around the same price it was in 2000 was the end of 2013 and since then the stock has dropped and has not recovered to the same level. I think Mattel should have analysts review all aspects of the operation and try to understand why the stock price continues to drop and has not recovered. Obviously, Mattel sells other toys and I’m sure that factors into all of this, but at the end of the day this is a problem and they need to address it. By the way, I agree with all of your points. Sometimes I’ve actually pondered, measuring and comparing the dolls and even plopping them on the scale to see if there any lighter clearly they will be, but I’m just interested in the difference in terms of weight. Yeah, I know I can think a little extra deep lol

Claudie is so adorable even though she does have a more slender body. I tried her sparkly skirt and fur trimmed top on my Melody and it looks cute but tight! I hope they expand more on Claudie’s collection and give her some more amazing pieces like the earlier historical line. Thanks for sharing!😊

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I think many of the item's quality from AG has changed. I would compare the quality of the AG items to those sold at Target for instance and there really would not be a comparison. Each has its place, but we are talking shopping Nostrums for dolls at the AG store compared to Target. Today that is no longer true for many of the items sold at AG store. Walmart, yes Walmart and Target offer some great alternatives and being a die hart AG fan since the late 80's, I now buy items at Target, Walmart, and Temu. I would not have thought that before. Things have changed. I also sew more for the dolls as well. Thank you Chris!
