My unpopular opinion probably is I’m so tired of AG brand condensing and retiring the historical characters, and the conversion to “BeForever.” If I want to buy any additional outfit for Kit or Samantha I now have to dish out $75 on eBay, and I feel that they need to be focused on why they started, which is educating young girls and getting them excited about American history.

I also really like the boy dolls, and I wish they would expand them more. I remember as a kid I wished they had boy dolls so I could play more rounded out stories, but as an adult collector now I think they are really cute.

AG forgets about them in my opinion, they never promote them or add to their collections

i alwayyyys say that about face molds- they aren’t normalised as american girl dolls to us! makena leaks look like my life as.... because we aren’t used to her being american girl! i’m so glad to hear you agree with me on this. also, same about courtney.... and i find her new mix and match very garish. great video ☺️

I collect dolls that speak to me. I don’t care if they are Truly Me. I love Courtney. I even love her time period and her collection. She is so spot on. I don’t care about uniqueness. Curly hair dolls are cute. But, they do get fly always that can’t always be fixed. I also like stop motions. They are different to make. TM 22 is retired. I don’t like the way the Mckena doll is going to look. She doesn’t look like an American Girl doll. I like the one with the curly hair. I want that one. I like the AG boy dolls. But, I can’t buy clothes for 2 types of dolls. I like Gabriela. I feel bad people hate her. It is not her fault.

not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but i've never seen many talking about this, so: i really like the bald dolls and think they're underrated. I own #71 and I adore her. they're so energetic and easy to take care of, since they have no hair. Also, if you scuff their head up, you can usually fix it with a magic eraser. I feel like not a lot of people own them on AGtube or AGIG (but i dont spend a lot of time on there, so again, not too sure).

I think I prefer the newer ones, but I don't have a strong opinion on either era

I love the truly me dolls. I definitely don’t want every single one, I just enjoy creating my own characters with them.

I think I’ve made my opinions clear before (probably a little too intensely), and my hands hurt so I don’t feel like typing things out, but I feel that an unusual view I may have is that I collect dolls because of their stories rather than their appearance. Also, I was recently gifted Samantha! I am so happy to have her, as she was one of the ones I wanted as a kid but was never able to get.

I agree so much with the colored doll from world by us, when I first saw the leaks I instantly thought that she looked like a my life doll!

I like doing curly doll’s hair lol. I have 56 and I pin curl her hair once a year and it’s fun for me. Fabric softener helps with frizz too.

I agree with the stopmotion one, I need to figure out a way to keep my dolls voices sounding different anyway, great video! I agree with you that Maryellen and Courtney look similar ahahaha

Even while editing the video, I was multitasking! I like just listening to videos sometimes but you can't really do that with agsm's

The main dolls that I collect are the Truly Me American Girl Dolls. I see them as extensions of myself because you can make up whatever you want about them. You can make up your own stories. Joss is my favorite GOTY Doll. Maryellen is my favorite Historical Doll. These aren't unpopular opinions per say, just random opinions.

If you compare Courtney and Maryellen they do look alike I do own both But I don’t notice when I’m making stop motions or videos with them you can only notice if you stare at them for a bit😂

I don't agree that Courtney and MaryEllen are the most lookalike named dolls. (but that's just me and I adore both - mine are distant relatives and my MaryEllen has WAY redder hair than my Courtney) I find Samantha and Molly very difficult to tell apart. I ran into someone the other day who had sent their Molly to the AG hospital and they sent her back with a Samantha head! So apparently, people at AG can't always tell them apart, either. I have a theory as to why Courtney has been so heavily advertised. Those of us who grew up in the 80s are the ones buying these dolls for our kids now, and we have a taste for nostalgia. (same reason why every cartoon we loved has been recycled and given a fresh coat of paint) She's really for us, and not the younger collectors. Side note - seeing your childhood in a "historical" doll is a surefire way to feel very, very old.

I really want AG to make different types of dolls (like mixed if you know what I mean-) and an asian or an Muslim girl . It would also be a good idea if they make like a muslim girl or asian it shouldn't be rushed..

Evette is mixed,, Corrine (the new girl of the year 2022) is Asian (Chinese) and there is a Muslim doll outfit

I used to not be a huge fan of Tenney, because, I didn’t really like her freckles. I remember looking at her in the store when she came out and I wasn’t overly impressed. But then I got one used, I planned to fix her up and sell her again…..but she won a place in my heart and now I can’t sell her lol. I wonder how Tenney and Logan will grow from a collector stand point over the years. Because they have different hands from all other dolls (will that make them more “Rare” as the years go by?) Not to mention the odd way that AG released them.

So I'm re watching this like for the 4th time and the Courtney maryellen thing depends what hair style or clothing they are wearing! If one outfit is more neutral it contrasts and that makes you see the dolls contrast so in stock photos you don't see that. Also hair styles! My Courtney looks more modern \ not 80s in low pig tales and twining with Ellie, yes they are alike, but in there well known hair styles they are different. With edited photos with similar lighting or the same fits they will be super similar

I think kids have different opinions then adult collectors for sure. Even agig and agtube are different.

The only reason I would hate on Kirsten is because of the documentary I saw called “Kirsten on the run” by the doll place, otherwise i absolutely love her😊

One of my unpopular opinions is that I'm not a huge fan of the Addy mold. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it doesn't really look like a doll to me. Addy is such a powerful character and I love her for that, but I have just never connected with the face mold.

I'm sick of Courtney, too, haha. I like her collection but I don't like the doll. Her story is pretty good though. I finally bought my first boy doll (76), he is my 50th AG doll. I mainly collect Truly Mes and GOTYs. I love the historicals, especially Addy and Maryellen, but I feel guilty if I take them out of their era-appropriate clothes, and historical outfits are so expensive and hard to find vs. contemporary clothing.

If Chrissa was a food she'd be tomato soup. I love tomato soup btw.

I’m actually not a huge soup fan. There is a local restaurant that makes an amazing tomato fennel soup… but I’m still very picky about it. So for me Chrissa would be pizza… you can’t go wrong with pizza

I think when she first released she was unique. A new mold and a beautiful wig, but since her mold is so popular in the truly me line, I don’t see her as that special anymore

I really really wanna see dolls with turbans, hijabs, and those type of things, I feel like they need to be more diverse because they only focus on blonde/brunette dolls the most - I want to see muslim dolls, jewish dolls, christan dolls, it would really make AG more diverse

I love Courtney, mostly because I'm an Xennial raised in the late 80's through early 90's and she's nostalgic for me I also love her hair, and it's way curlier and also blonder than MaryEllen's. MaryEllen has wavy, strawberry-blonde hair while Courtney has curly blonde hair. And it's a curl pattern that is uncommon for AG, more Shirly Temple ringlets than the tighter curls that a lot of other dolls have (I guess maybe her curl type is closest to Cecile's, who was discontinued and is hard to get as a result. I do also want Cecile though since I have a thing for curly-haired dolls lol. I just got Evette and I love her curly hair too)

Things AG should do: Add girl doll with a pixie cut (CYOs don't count) Make a tomboy GOTY PLEASE AG! Add more diverse hobbies for GOTYs Add a doll in the time period between Kaya and Josefina

Honestly finding motivation can be hard sometimes. Sometimes watching youtubers I enjoy helps to motivate me. Also make content that works with your schedule. I don’t have time to make agsm’s, but doing talking videos takes way less time

Personally, I LOVE the Joss mold. Ever since I found out about AG, the Marie Grace mold kind of freaked me out. I think it’s the smirk… But, I love her. Her story is really interesting but I will always prefer Cecile.

Unpopular Opinion: I don't like that Kaya doesn't smile. I'm also Native American and they should have used a different tribe where smiling is allowed. Kaya looks off brand and aggressive. That's why they use that mold sometimes for the boy dolls.

Idk if this is just me but I hate when people get a Marie grace doll just to customize her and don’t appreciate the doll herself. I love Marie grace and she one of my favorites dolls in my collection and it’s makes me sad when people get Marie grace just to customize her 😔

Also idk why but like I feel like maybe Maryellen built a Time Machine, and Courtney is just Maryellen in disguise 🤔

unpopular opinion: BRING BACK TENNEY GRANT AND ZEE YANG!!! ok so Tenney is awesome and so is Zee but if they bring them back i like the idea of the line being as big as the historicals and also being more diverse!

I do agree with most of these !! I do not like tenny but she is so much hate the hands bother me but I do think 24 is better. I do not like kit and I think that is pretty unpopular. Owning all the truly me dolls you would own so many dolls that look the same

I don’t think I have any unpopular opinions about AG dolls. For the world by us I really want the curly hair doll sorry I don’t know her name. Same about tenny I like her. I miss the inner star u era it was the best

unpopular opinion(?) i do not like the original molds that dolls like molly come with. especially with light skin (which is what ag does the most lol). i have 59 she was my first doll and will probably be my only doll with that mold. Josefina and Jess's mold are by far my favorite molds.

Unpopular opinion: I don't like side bangs.

I have a couple sjjsjsjs 1. #4 is so overrated. Like I get it the face mold is unique but you’re really about to spend $200+ on a used doll that looks beat up? 2. Agtube needs more videos for mature audiences. I get it it’s a kids toys but there’s Barbie mature video out there that are really popular and funny. As an adult collector, it gets a bit tiring seeing the speaky clean story line. I’ve only come across one agtuber that has a 13+ rating and I wish more can come in the future 3.AG needs to stop making all Latina dolls be exclusively Mexican Americans. I’m not hating on any Mexican americans but ag; did y’all not take a geography class? It sucks event your culture is never represented any any type of media and when they do it’s always Mexican, Puerto Rican, Argentine or Colombian. Cmon ag don’t forget the rest of Latin America 4. Agtuber meet ups are kinda useless(?) Please let me know how these work I’m very confused 5. I miss the old ag tube. I miss when you could just take a picture of the doll and have text across the screen with copyrighted music playing. I love when you could use your digital camera to make the simplest videos and have fun with it without using professional equipment. Now I feel like people judge you just because you have carpet flooring or use the the same location and change furniture around

I like to think of my videos as family friendly… I don’t swear as I know kids watch my videos even if they aren’t my target audience, but I try not to baby anything to attract an older audience. I’m all for adult humour and things like that in other genres. As for meetups, usually it’s more agig where you can meet your online friends, take photos etc.

In my opinion i think ag should not retire truly me dolls but retire Girl of the year dolls cause ag is not following tradition of retiring them :(

I don't agree with the first too, lol. I borrowed my sister's Courtney for a TGH episode and my friends (who don't have a clue about AG, btw) thought she was Maryellen only with curly hair. -_- And as for Marie, I'm very impartial since she was the first doll I got (as if that's not obvious with my pfp). XD But I do like Julie. I ended up choosing Maryellen as my second doll instead, but Julie will always be on my wishlist. :)

I don't know how popular or unpopular my opinions are. I do often pick favorite characters based on the stories more than the dolls or collection items, because the books are all I can afford. Occasionally, their appearance or name plays a part in my opinion, though. When I was little I really liked Kit because she looked like me at the time and I liked that her named sounded like "cat/kitty". Her books were pretty good too.

@@AllycatlovesAG I agree with the fact that the pincurls get in the way when styling dolls hair. I recently bought a second hand Elizabeth that I plan on rewigging (possibly as a boy) and didn't notice the curls because the hair had been combed so often. I only saw them, wavy, frizzy, shorter hair on the sides after I figured out which doll she was by checking AG Wikipedia. If I keep her wig they would be a problem. I have 3 Felicity dolls and one kept as Felicity, one pulled her wig, and the third (purchased when I got Elizabeth - 3 for $40 each so I couldn't not buy her) I actually cut the four short sections of hair that made the tendrils. She has really nice hair and I didn't want to be bothered to recurl the pincurls. They are hard to keep looking good. I wish they'd stop making the dolls with those. I do own a Tenney that I bought new and keep the side curl so I just don't style her hair in different ways.

I agree with most of these especially the part about Gwen. I always liked her the best out of the three. Unpopular opinion I don't care for the #4 mold.

Same! It isn’t a mold we see often so it’s always looked a bit off to me. Plus most 4’s are in bad condition which makes the mold look all scuffed up

Not-unpopular opinion: Sonali was easily the best in Chrissa's line and should have been the GoTY. Also, Kirsten is Scandinavian. She has more right to have blue eyes and blonde hair than anyone else in the history of the company!

Please explain, I am curious. Is it that they prioritize the dolls with white background? I think I did notice that. No one touches Kaya. Addy is acknowledged once in a while and so is Rebecca. Rebecca’s Jewish background is entirely overlooked.

Unpopular opinion #1: Samantha is overrated. Unpopular opinion #2: I don't care much for the Josefina mold! LOL, just my opinions!
