Hello Kaye. Been watching your new home adventures. Love the property. Good luck with the new garden. What great and exciting garden videos I'm looking forward to. I was very sick since last August. So the best cure for me was getting back to gardening. Been slow in moving to get my strength back but getting there. My garden is doing great. I'm saying to myself that "I can't let Kaye get ahead of me ".continue to make great garden videos. Retired UPS Teamster local 63 Cal.

Everything looks beautiful Kaye, and yes heat exhaustion is real and you need to be careful! I hope the deer don't find their way into the blueberry hut or to the peach tree. We have deer and Elk and their necks are longer than we think . LOL Dad built a TP basically of bamboo poles/pine poles and laced it around with bird cloth. He did finally get it to where the tall creatures wouldn't approach the fruit trees. Hopefully you don't have that. You and Justin are quite the working team and you have made miracles around your homestead and in less than a year. You are amazing!!! Blessings to all you do and do take care of yourself. :-)

Blessings from Morrow just outside of Lebanon, Ohio. Thank you for sharing your homestead with us! I just had a thought about the entrance to your blueberry enclosure, how about using magnetic mesh screens they sell just about everywhere at this time of year. I think some are made with weights at the bottom to keep from blowing. I was just thinking of purchasing some for some of our projects here on our new farm. I am trying to learn new skills in between along with starting a wedding venue that we decided to start. A local co-op was here prior to our purchase and do an amazing job with the front 10 or so acres of organic crops. Growing up we always went to U-Pick farms so I never realized the amount of knowledge and work that goes into farming. We hope to eventually nurture and encourage the next generation of farmers as we continue our journey. What a blessing you have found a young man to help on your lovely homestead! Again, Thank you for sharing! 🧡 Teresa

I read recently that certain blueberries due better in the north than in the south. I am waiting for my blueberries to turn from green to blue. Last year they never turned blue and just fell off green. I have added organic coffee grounds and some blueberry organic fertilizer. Put some nice mulch around them. Also got a third blueberry that is a different type, as from what I also read is you need 2 different kinds to get them to produce. We shall see if I get ripe blueberries soon. They are bigger green berries than last year. The plants are 5 to 6 ft except for the new different variety. It may be that the variety is not good for my area. Time to observe and see what happens. Gardening is such a learning adventure!!! 💖 I live in Southwest Missouri.

I just bought deer netting at TSC for the blueberry enclosure, but after two seasons, I took it down. The overall structure was too weak and the netting was ripped. This year, I will drape voile (also called tulle or nylon netting at Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's or order online), over the individual plants or rows. After all, the only time they need protecting is about two months, so why look at an unattractive structure for a whole year? Now, if it was a solidly built enclosure, I would have kept it. Good luck!

@@Latebloomershow I have tried all manner of things to fight against these squirrels. I tried starving them out in hopes they would go elsewhere to find food, but they would take to destroying my flowers and digging in my pots and turning them over. They clipped off every single Rhododendron bloom I had on three of my bushes this year. Just cut them off and left them on the ground. So, I tried feeding them well as to keep their bellies full but they would still dig up and snip off and tear up things just for the fun of it. I have even set live traps to catch and release to no avail. There are too many, I have too many trees. I have not tried doing what my grandparents would have done which is to kill them and put them into the fry pan.
