    Bullies, bystanders and the people who leave. You trade your sole. I'm traumatized by what I witnessed and haunted by regret shame I could have done more. Watching my friends and colleagues struggle with mental health and PTSD was sole destroying. The organisation is absolutely roten to the core. If you have a modicum of self respect and confidence, do not join the military. Otherwise commission only. In 6yrs time, I told you so.

    Great vid mate, great to see. I loved my time in the mob, great times, great mates. I first went to sea on DE's and Darings, and when they "ran out" went to Anzacs, which I see you with in the vid. I went to Anzacs' decomm recently, but as a civvy, as I "hung up the blue suit" in 2013. Thanks for putting it on You tube, and judging from all the positive comments below, there is a lot of interest in what we do (or did). Cheers mate.

    @Knight-Sgt. Reyes I’m hit with the same dilemma, I feel like the navy would be a bit more active because when you’re in the ship you’re doing your job but in the army I doubt I’d be in a war using the skills I’ve learnt. I’m applying to be an officer, any thoughts?

    Actually, if you want to do Uni and then take an officer's position you could go to the Australian Defence Force Academy where you undertake a uni course at ADFA and then you give back the course length +1 years in service. So if you take a 4-year course you'll have to do 5 years as an officer. If you want to go to RMC instead you could ask the ADF to sponsor your time at uni

    I have a couple of questions, both quite silly haha 1. What's the "Military Courtesy" like? Is it like in the movies, where you have to address all the officers and senior sailors as sir and what not, or is it more chill? 2. Do you have any experience with the logistics officers (supply officers), are they well respected as part of the team, and as OFFICERS? Sorry I know these sound stupid, but who better to ask than someone who was in the job.

  • @gedreeves9692

    @gedreeves9692

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yeah its pretty much that. You're calling everyone from senior sailor and above (officers) their rank. Not really chill in that respect haha. One of the best people I've ever served with was a MLO (maritime logistics officer), did a couple of middle east trips with her and she was one of the best officers, respected by everyone from captain down. All good not stupid at all. Hope this has helped.

    Serj Salencov hey mate, how far into it are you?? I’m a Principal Warare Officer (all shit jokes aside) which is what MWO’S turn into eventually. Ged’s had an awesome gulf trip or two (Toowoomba went to the gulf so many bloody times) but being a MWO is a great job, very rewarding and with the capabilities coming online in the next decade or two anything you can do in physics can only help. Your ability to lead a team and get the trust of the Captain is what’s important. You will eventually be the guy that launches and recovers those helicopters and boats, keeps the ship alongside so that fuel rig can re-fuel the ship. Big job, but if your keen and ready, go for it. And Ged, great video, thanks for putting it up

    Hey man, I'm enlisting in May as an ET and later down the track my dream is to be an aircrewman, is it possible to go from an ET to an aircrewman? And how hard is it to be in the boarding party as an ET?

  • @gedreeves9692

    @gedreeves9692

    Aaron Balmforth hey man, being an et is the perfect platform to become an aircrewman, I thought about it for a while too. you'd have no worries, just get your four years out of the way and go for it! Every boarding party has to have at least one ET, so you shouldn't have any issues. Just as soon as you finish category training and post to a base or ship let them know you're super keen for it!

    (As an Australian myself,) thank you for serving in the Australian Navy and protecting Australia. I was curious, what kind of personality and traits should a person have to serve in the Navy. Can a cowardly person serve the Navy well or a person who doesn't handle stress well? Or a person who can handle boredom well, doing stuff like looking at a radar screen for eight hours? To get to the point of the questions, who would be the ideal applicants for the Australian Navy and who would be the people who can only barely just get in (rather than fail)? Final questions (I promise) can a slightly unfit person be the Navy since there is little physical activity inside a submarine and do using or living in submarines ruin people's ears? Again, thank you for protecting Australia and should you want to give any interesting information, I'll be all ears....
