There is a minor issues with the video. Shoukaku's health changes in the comparison. It should be the lower one at 5954. The 6k one is Zuikaku's health. I missed that when premiere crashed...

the moment I laid eyes on Shoukaku, I knew I absolutely loved her... XD still waiting for the devs to give the Crane sisters some much deserving love... I mean just look at Shoukaku's lines... she deserves that much love imo

My first SR CV still using her, even though i have a lot more of them except for Kaga and Enterprise (but can get her any time i want with Training Exam), like Lexington (CA covering fire skill) and Shouhou for healing

Azur Lane is so historically accurate even the crane sisters are underappreciated here. Living under the shadows of their "seniors" despite more or less similar quality.

The Crane Sisters were the best aircraft carriers in anybody's navy for a while, until the US began bringing the Essex class into action in 1943.

The cranes accounted for half of the US fleet carriers lost in the war (Lexington at Coral Sea, Hornet at Santa Cruz) Also agree that the attention to historic detail is really impressive. The carrier division bonuses reflect how they historically operated with their fellow division carriers. Zuikaku's luck stat is much higher to reflect how she usually survived battle with no/little damage while Shoukaku kept getting wrecked.

Fox Twins is pretty much PvP oriented and often sucks in PvE especially in world 11 and beyond, while the crane sisters were pretty much designed in contast because of their stats and skills were pretty much fleet-wide synergy reliant... imo

well most carriers cant hang at 11 and beyond unless your stacking fat AA. You can still use twins to farm, 8-10, if you have a high damage vanguard or a high health one. I still think the crane sisters aren't as good. Paper wise, the crane sisters have higher potential with theory crafting comps. But the fox sisters still beat them in raw power/speed. Not have to build a comp around 2 ships in my opinion is better.

Got Yukikaze on literally my first build, but NOTHING ELSE AFTER THAT.

In Parkers "Azur Lane: A Journal" Zuikaku is regarded as one of the strongest ships in the fleet and had previously beat Akagi down (doesn't actualy state it's Zuikaku, but it's Zuikaku)

That's probably more to do with the historical context. The Shoukaku-class was a development of every carrier built by Japan until then and the Zuikaku was arguably the more succesful ship, compared to Shoukaku. The Taihou and Shinano that came after were in many ways inferior.

@@TheAnon03 The Shinano was never going to be optimal since she was a conversion. The Taihou was definitely rushed and also suffered from a very inexperienced crew. Those two factors caused her to be sunk by relatively minor damage.

The only true way to sortie ZuiZui is with Enterprise because they're OTP both IRL and in game.

Shoukaku was my first SR Carrier (Aside from Enterprise) because of me joining the Game pre Visitors Dyed in Red Event, and once the Event started and Commenced Spam Building, Huzza! First thing that came out was Shoukaku sadly I didn't get her Sister at the First Run of the Event, due to me being low level and unable to the grind ( I could still Recall that i was Level 25+ and the Levels need for the Event Grind were 30+) but finally got ZuiZui at the Re run of the Event. Currently Shoukaku is a Part of My Harem, will i work up the affinity with Zuikaku, and both are among the most Powerful SR Carriers I have at my disposal. On another Note... Another helpful Review Video from the one and only Hawk! Keep up the Good Work! Keep the Good Shit Rolling! And Rest Well Hawk, Get some well deserved R&R! Time to Get the Good Vibes rolling again! (sorry for the long post/comment)

I just realized something..... its, While* I work up... not, Will* I work up...

The Crane Sisters' Luck stats are pretty much related to their historical reference.. First is their namesake, Shoukaku means "Happy Crane" and Zuikaku means "Lucky/Auspicious Crane" Second, is they are the last Main Fleet Division ever made for IJN, after the downfall from the Midway. Third, they never been defeated if they are together during the war. When Shoukaku was sunk by the US submarine, Zuikaku followed her sister ship 2 days after during the Great Marianas Turkey Shootout

At the Coral Sea and the Solomons battle, Shoukaku was badly damaged while Zuikaku escaped with only a badly shot-up air wing. You see that in the stats where Shoukaku provides a buff to her younger sister. Shoukaku was lost in June 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, after having her air group provide sacrifices for the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot. Zuikaku followed her in October as part of Admiral Ozawa's sacrificial carrier force during the Leyte Gulf battles. In KanColle, Zuikaku gets triggered by turkeys for the same reason swordfish set off Bismarck.

I'm currently using them both as I am doing Zuikaku's secretary quest. I find them quite dependable. Thanks for the video!

Kinda relate. I married Shoukaku in KC first. then in Azur Lane, she's kind of different so...... i kind of pass..... well that's shows on my profile name

I am still waiting for that survival mode, where you need to last as long as possible without a time limit and infinite rewards for every wave boss cleared.

The crane sisters are my main fleet for handling the various stages and special events. Together with Nagato as flagship, they are almost untouchable. Plus, I had both sisters as my wives cause I can't give up either one of them since both are lovely in their own way. KC version are also lovely too!

Nagato, Shoukaku, Zuikaku, Mogami, Kawakaze, Takao. Full animu fleet xD

Cranes are for late worlds and long battles, combined with Yukikaze you get great dmg reduction for backline too.

Nice one, the Crane sisters are a really good combo to the INJ entire fleet, maybe is because i use 4 buffers together, Crane+Nagato+Yukikaze but i never get a time where the Backline get highly damage (actually just the vanguard get killed), even for pvp, the 2 should be better that Fox Sister's, but take into acount the rng and the 3rd member in the enemy backline

So in light of more recent changes and ship releases, Shoukaku has been catapulted to tier 0 as she is now a excellent carrier buffer, and when paired with Shinano and Ark Royal/Nagato means really good carrier strike power. I really like that Shoukaku is now in the spotlight, really shows that the meta can change and lower tier ships aren’t necessarily bad, it could be that no one has discovered how to use them.

I remember seeing that list of the ships you'll be talking about soon, and boy were the Kizunas and Bismarck not gonna come out for quite some time, i can wait. And now i have enterprise, i can lay waste to my enemies, hehehe

I JUST WISH I HAD BOTH OF THEM BECAUSE THEIR SKILLS HELPS A LOT

They're in the Special Heavy buildpool (far right choice). I had Shoukaku since the event, and yesterday pulled Zuikaku from that pool.

Both Cranes are great. I love them. Shoukaku is the first shipgirl I bought a L2D skin for (2nd girl overall that I bought a skin for). I love what a troll she is against first carrier division and she is also really pretty. Zuikaku is precious. I love her shounen protagonist vibe. I actually like most of Zui's lines more even thought I like Shoukaku more overall.

Shoukaku to me is best using alone cause her buff is something i prefer to have in most of my fleet build. Also the foxes shot first. And i call Shou (Hino Eiji) and Zui (Ankh)

Shokaku was my first sr carrier. She and lexington were my first main carriers. My zui never went to sea tho

What's dangerous from the fox twins is their skills for short fight and for the crane sisters, their skills is useful on longer fight

12/22/20 patch update: Shoukaku had a bug/quirk fixed where her airstrike that procs Crane's protection wasn't buffed by it. Zuikaku had her stacking buff skill buffed in that in a fleet with 3+ IJN ships, she gets 20% in addition to the original stacking. I think stacking quicker would have been better. The Shoukakus do not have the same personality. Sure AL Shou is nice to you and her sister, but the other japanese ships and US ones are often targets of passive aggressiveness. While suited for longer fights, the cranes are on the back foot now that the dragon refits have hit EN and JP; better raw aviation/etc, suited for long fights but not at much expense of normal ones, etc. They do have the cranes beat in nearly every way. That being said if you luck out and get both early on, they'd be of some nice use until you can go about refitting the dragons. (Only reason the foxes don't lose out is preemptive strike is quite something even for utility uses) Zui's stacking damage is such that if you're well leveled/equip/etc you won't really need it for the most part. Some may use Shoukaku for her support.

I only got Shokaku, and I never used her since I don’t have Zuikaku. But maybe I’ll give a try

@Austin Cause of her first skill really she's pretty mediocre overall and their's a tons of ships to counter her easily but in the current vers. of EN only barrage BB's can counter her so ships like Amagi and deals tons of damage can easily kill her and with how low her HP poll is its not that hard though it will depends on RNG as always.

For some reason I got the idea of imagine Iris Heart from the Neptunia series as ship, she could fit nice on the Iron Blood.

Zuikaku got a huge buff, when there are 3 or more Sakura ships deployed she gains another 20% airstrike dmg up to 80%.

Well, I got these two months before the foxes decided to come home, so they earned the position of being my main IJN carrier team, in addition to having a bias for bird girls over fox girls. Though in practice I usually use the Fusou and Yamashiro BBVs over the CVs, because of another bias I got from another game.

"This was the plan worthy of... DA CRANEZ!" - Zuikaku, along Shoukaku, makes her both references of AoStH in The Robotnik Express and Mad Mike, Da Bear Warrior.

I use lower dmg/fast reload plane for shokaku. Play her like helena, which I hold other barrage till she finish reload. You can give give heavier plane on zuikaku, theres no holding shot with zuikaku. You need to fire when she done reload. They both can fire 3 shot against some boss, which is nice, but i prefer to use shokaku alone for now.

What are your thoughts on HMS Glorious? She appears to be great at buffing your vanguard at a glance. Might work well together with Illustrious?

Ah, my absolute favorite pair of AL!

I ship these two ships like I ship most pair ships! Seriously though... I I wish I started playing this game when it first came out. I probably would have them by now. My deepest regret. And Portland-chan is 16 in line if your going down the list...curses! I cant wait for my waifu to be reviewed by you! On a second note Long Island and Glowworm will at least be up sooner. Noice!

I use both of them in one of my two Sakura fleets. I enjoy using the crane sister's.

They are just event locked...when a specific event comes around...there are limited time build ships... That's how these two are.... I was told there's a rule the devs have where once a rerun hits...all characters in the event will soon be permanently available

Why not add in the Kongou sisters on to the list? You can even make it that all of them could be in 1 vid to make the list shorter.

Your getting something wrong about the fifth carrier division skill. Its damage reduction towards them (not more damage towards them) it says "IT" in the skill meaning both shoukaku and zuikaku get damage reduction.

Shoukaku takes more damage...Zuikaku takes less...this was confirmed. And Shoukaku's skills reduces damage of the entire fleet

Zuikaku high luck stats is based on the fact that she never suffered major damage until her sister was sunk, and she was the last out of the six carrier that attack Pearl Harbor to be sunk.

I just need zuikaku. They are great looking characters and I'm guessing a great duo.

I fucking LOVE shoukaku and. She was my first event ship in the first run of the said event. Still missing Zuikaku which is annoying cuz my phone died during the re run. Also missed out on Bismark FUUUUUUUUUUU

Akaga are for trashmob clearing, they are fast and somewhat balanced overall working as shock and awe tactic perfectly Zuishou are for boss clearing, they are pretty slow but damn you don't to be there when they throw their planes... These 7 torps planes at minimal +50% damage combined with their already high base AVI are hell to any boss and pretty much death sentence in one or two strikes... If Akaga are shock and awe, Zuishou are the nuclear warhead destroying everything on the map each 25s. Also and most importantly, their racing skins are just DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN especially Shoukaku

I have to say I am an ardent Fox user. But I have always wanted to use the Cranes, tbh a part of me likes their design more than the Fox's (don't tell Akagi I said that) even if I am a sucker for nine-tails. Something about them just seems more polished than the Fox's too me, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's newer(?) art, or something. But I've just invested way too much into the Fox's, and I've become too used to their rapid launch skill, which often times up so nicely with Nagato's Big Seven for bigus dickus damage. Also, Zui x Enty OTP.

AL started as a really low budget game, so old arts aren’t as good as the new one, even though the cranes aren’t that new. You can also realize that new ships and retrofits have more expression than the old ones.

Actually putting Amagi and Yukikaze in a same Fleet can literally neutralize Shoukaku’s increased received damage 😂

check out my Zui and Shou at rank 29, i never regret leveling them up

For me Fox sisters is for PvP because their high reload skill while Crane sisters is for PvE because Zui's skill can stack dmg 3 times.. But still i can't wait for Souryu and Hiryu retrofit XD Once more, we need Zuikaku skin that facing forward!!?!

I think they are a lot better than the fox sisters personally. The foxies' quick plane deploy is fun and all, but that's pretty much all they have. These two's buffing is quite a bit nicer IMO.

Tbh I just came here because of the new year gift choice. I'll just pick hood

their the discount version of the fox sisters. Graphs dont lie, fox sister combo out paces crane sisters. By a huge margin, well about 1.6 more. That 40% cut on first attack is really huge in damage efficiency, something most people over look since most guides go off HPS/DPS. Those are consistent factors but dont apply situational. Damage efficiency is doing as much damage as fast as you can during optimal moments. The key is to kill your enemy before they kill you. The foxes are the best at it, pvp and pve. If your doing mid to mid-high area, using fox sisters for farming is A OKAY, as long as you got a vanguard that melt tougher targets, then the fox sisters can clean up. The crane sisters will struggle unless you got max equips and a fleet combo that supports/benefits from them. foxes only just need high damage, or high hp. Easy to stack.
