My thoughts on the Lumix FZ300 and whether I should buy one!

In this video I confuse myself trying to decide if I should buy a Lumix ZF300 or if I should stick with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Video from both is included so you can compare side by side. I would love some input from the community so please let me know your opinions down below!
Also shout out to Isaac Shaw Photography - isaacshawphoto... who is trying to sell me this camera!

I have the exact same problem. I'm getting the Panasonic to use as my main camera, and I'm keeping the iPhone 11 pro for a second angle. In your video I could see the color grading between the two cameras will need to be fixed. Will see (fingers crossed)

I was having the same problem until now (thanks to this video). I am definitely going to buy the lumix fz300, the quality is great and extra great for the price. The problem with iphone is the storage (cant shoot on 4k cuz it takes all the space in less than 5 min) I have the 11pro max and it is a pain to record with it.

I’ve really enjoyed shooting on the iPhone with filmic pro, and I got the 256gb one so I have more room for raw footage.

I use a iPhone 7 and have for years. I’m trying to find ways around my limitations however I just can’t fix outdoor lighting with the iPhone. I also have lav mics and shotgun mics. I’ve got a smartphone rig with cold shoes to hold everything. I edit with iMovie, however at the end of the day it never seems good enough. This is why I would go for the FZ300. I’ll admit the FZ300 isn’t my 1st choice but I can’t afford a GX7 mark iii or the Sony zv-1.

What part of the lighting do you struggle with? I’ve generally found iPhones to be pretty good outside in the bright light but not in the dim so much.

@@AeetosOutdoors maybe it’s just the 7 then. But if I get direct sunlight from turning or moving the camera has this very piercing flash. If I stay in the sunlight with a shadow close by or half in the shadow my face seems to disappear into the light. Low light is very grainy as well. If you set the light on the iPhone itself then the lighting around you changes the iPhone seems to either make everything really dark or really lit. Maybe it’s just me but I cannot find a happy light for the 7.

Are you just using the stock camera? I have been using Filmic Pro as my video recording software and it lets you customise every aspect of the shot before shooting. It may be worth tweaking your exposure on the shot and then locking it with a long finger press, that will stop it changing when the light changes. That being said if you’re in shadow and move to sunshine it will be way to bright and vice versa.

Is f/2.8 works in videoing? Any limitation zoom range? Or limited in certain mode only?

So far I have found you can use the zoom when filming and taking video and I haven’t come across any limitations. It’s a great piece of kit!
