Like many people out there I found the "Great Outdoors" to be a little intimidating at first glance. However that didn't stop me jumping in with both feet and getting out there to explore. Whether you're a beginner or more experienced, please join me in my journey into the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, reviewing gear and offering tips and tricks I've picked up along the way. I hope that you'll find something useful along the way!
Aeetos Outdoors was born in a crisis when I found myself laid off from work due to COVID-19 and needed something to do to keep me sane. I'm learning with every new video released and I'm really enjoying the journey of discovery, both indoor and out!
I hope you will join me for the ride!

Thanks for the good review. I just got one of these because I already have a Marmot EOS 1 tent that I've had for many years. I have been really impressed with the quality and its ability to handle heavy rain.. However, it is a bit small and can get claustrophobic so I got the Tungsten 1 UL which is a decent size. I haven't used it yet but after setting it up and inspecting it, the quality seems just as good as the EOS.
Many people complain about the UL version of this tent over the years and that it breaks down quickly. But this version is solid and I have used my tent many times over several years
still waiting for a new vid mate
Good information
Thinking of buying one of these. Thanks for the video mate
You are soo out of shape to be a outdoors person.just tell the truth
Just got a 17 foot for 50 nothing wrong with it to so happy
30 year RamX 15 owner here. Your canoe seems to be in good shape - the redder they are, the less time they’ve been left out in the sun. Simple mods: you can attach a small trolling motor by making or buying a side motor mount - with lithium ion batteries you can motor about for hours with a 25 lb. Battery. You can also put a low beach chair ahead of the middle thwart - just put it on a rubber pad so it doesn’t move. Enjoy!
I and my hiking buddies have had more than a dozen encounters with mountain lions and grizzlies. You need eyes on the back of your hats and facemasks that redirect lions, they can be detoured from the standard back attack and are triggered to attack if you run. You need bear spray and sizable full tang knives. Water treatment is necessary, at least a prefilter, a saturated iodine solution, a shinny metal canteen and a 365nm UV sterilizing light. In the event of a nuclear conflict the iodine detours the dangerous untake of radioactive Iodine 131. You may hide from radioactive fallout under bridges and large structures. Recharge is best if you have USB charging solar panels.
What attachment do you have on the lens?
Non of these cons are cons
Just got a 20 year old Coleman Ram-X 15 recently. Glad to see Coleman made great boats!
Great video. Too many people focus on bug out bags to race into the wilderness. I have a grab bag which includes all the gear you have listed as well as a little more. When an a payment in our building was on fire I grabbed mine and ran out. First family out of the block. Some choice to stay in as they couldn’t see the danger. So include common sense to.
2:16 the bird is a dark eyed junco (Oregon subspecies) And I have the fz300 it’s great!
DWR is solely for stopping the outer fabric from soaking. If it's gore-tex or another membrane it will always be waterproof. DWR is needed so the gore-tex can breath and allow your body vapour to pass through the gore-tex membrane and the outer fabric. So back to your video , you mentioned there are parts that are soaking. Soaking isn't good especially with that small amount of water. It means the DWR hasn't mixed well in the washing or maybe enough wasn't used, who knows.
Why not nikwax wash in tech wash/tx direct not good?
How can manual be a con? You can still use iA mode...
All in with the salt… lol! Thx for the review.
No, no NO! NEVER wash your waterproof garments in anything but a detergent specifically made for waterproof garments, like Granger or NikWax. Will it be as clean as Tide or the like, NO! But it will ensure your waterproofing did not get washed off either.
this. especially a POD.
You can shoot in total automatic mode. What's wrong with you?
It's all common sense
Question from a noob: I have a reflective emergency blanket and was thinking that might provide some lightweight warmth next time. Would it be more effective over me/the sleeping bag when I am lying down, or under me/the sleeping mat?
Put it under the sleeping mat bro , you need to protect yourself from the lower ground's temperature
ZEEEEEEEE!!!
The first mushroom was NOT chanterelles . It’s a false chanterelle mushroom. Those gills are true gills
I have the exact same problem. I'm getting the Panasonic to use as my main camera, and I'm keeping the iPhone 11 pro for a second angle. In your video I could see the color grading between the two cameras will need to be fixed. Will see (fingers crossed)
Top camera buy
subed your channel and was like # 106
This is my 3rd Lumix FZ300, gave 2 of them to friends after using them a lot. As a professional photographer for 45 years, I took this camera on trips as it weight only 450grammes, and is compact enough, even did professional jobs twice with it. The lens is good even at 600 m/m focal, I made portraits of people hiding being pillards "using the orientable viewer which moves in every direction" in markets in Asia and many other places and you can see the pores of the skin of the faces. When you know about manual photography it is easy to use and do what ever you want. Great camera for action shot, pan and tricks, on fully automatic modes, intelligent auto and program mode. Batteries; I have 2 batteries and charge them "with the regular charger which comes with the camera" on usb outlets "getting commun everywhere" or 120/220 volts outlets. I also charge them with and external portable charger which I also use for my phone. Splash and dust fantastic as you do not have to change lenses which always bring dust on the sensor, this is a Big PLUS. Stabilisation is also very good. I won't talk about video as I like still photography. I never used the little flash incorporated in the top of the view finder. After heavy usage not one of the 3 camera I did own let me down after many years of intense shooting. More Pro than con for sure. I am thinking about buying an other one before they won't be available and for a very decent price.
WHAT ABOUT VIDEO QUALITY
These do come with a USB charger now. I had a Canon G10, but was never happy with it, so just got the uk 330 version and the reason for this was 3 fold. 1 f2.8 though the whole range 2 sensible 600mm lens, longer affects the camera usability 3 water and dust proof, VERY few have this and a must for travel. This is ideal for holidays as you everything in one package with the advantage of adding filters. For me the largest blow up so far is a 40cm2 which is ok with the small sensor. For the cost of the camera it is a very good general camera.
SD Card slot at the bottom is a deal breaker and just stupid design
Those cons where not very depressing. I only have experience of the Panasonic Lumix dmc fz72. But also a super zoom camera (60 x). I don't know if the FZ300 has the same issues but the biggest cons with the FZ72 is 1. The noisy image stabilazor when recording movies. I had to turn it off because it was so destructive. 2. Pressing the rear dial stopped working after a couple of years. A typical problem for some Lumix models. Not sure if that's the issue with the FZ 300. The button on the rear dial controls settings for all the M, A, S and P modes. So quite crucial. Even though this camera is quite old it's still around on the market. But it seems that the manufacturing of bridge cameras in general last couple of years have gone down. Many of the older super zooms are not available anymore. But the FZ300 still is. I have been looking at the Canon SX70 HS with it's 20 MP sensor, but after all the reviews on the FZ300 I am starting to lean towards getting one of these. Thanks a lot for the great review.
My buddy has one with the same pushed up seat issue. We had a huge snowfall one year, and it bent the bottom rail with it stored bottom up. It’s the canoe he stashes way out in the area we fish, so we don’t have to do the 6 hour portage every time. Pretty much indestructible, and not out a lot of coin if some a-hole steals it. Lol If they want to do the amount of work to get it out of there, then they deserve it.
Last two tips not mentioned, one, if you're lucky enough to camp at area where there is electrical outlet bring a long extension cord and a space heater, or better yet say the hell with it and buy a small camper. LOL . Just kidding. We must have a since of humor.
Boa tarde! adorei seu vídeo...eu estava a fim dessa câmera, mas acho que desisti!!! Obrigada!🇧🇷
The pros off the top of my mind are: F2.8 throughout the zoom range, focus stacking and pre-shutter release capture using 4k, ability to change focus point after capture, iZoom option to increase usable zoom range, the iAuto+ modes, the focus wheel to fine tune manual focus, focus peaking to have tack sharp focus, and auto focus with eye sensor
Could you do some reviews on Peak Refuel meals. I've heard very good things about those.
Para mi, mil veces mejor que un móvil, incluso para vídeos poner accesorios como lente anamórfico, incluso batería exterior para una semana, ráfagas, 4 k , micrófono inalámbricos, etc y su precio
Repeating and repeating and repeating manual camera, battery charging cgargeu=inbg etc etc etc, but no analysis on picture quality iPhone & FZ300 !!!???!!?? I gave ups
Start 2:23
As you indicate, the key is does someone want to step up to a more complex camera or are they really happy with their phone?
Thank you, out of all the vids for evacuations bags, yours is the most helpful! Everyone else is just advertising there expensive overpriced shit. Me and my husband had a fire scare at our apartments, everyone is okay. But we want to be prepared in case for the future
You’re welcome and I’m glad I could help. Often people will have the items they need already, they just need to put them together in one place.
I found that the Clothing Repel works way BETTER than the wash and repel
Is it the same brand? I’m going to have to re-treat mine soon and I’d be interested to know about other options!
Bought this camera secondhand. The on off toggle suffers from latency after flipping a few times. Is this normal?
Sit in it backwards if you're soloing it. I load up my 17ft and solo it exclusively. Sitting backwards in the front seat puts you more into the middle and is a lot more stable.
That’s what I’d do when soloing. Took a bit of getting used to as I didn’t have much experience!
What’s the point in washing them first with regular detergent? Thanks for the video
Mine had gotten pretty dirty over the years so I wanted to try washing it first. I think it also helps remove anything that may stop the repell adhering to the jacket.
I want to prepare for an earthquake and we will be away from home and away from help for 48-72 hours.Should me and my family prepare individual grab and go bags or prepare two bug out bags ? I am looking forward to hear your suggestions
Preparing one each is always a good idea in case you are separated. That being said you could always put a family bag in the car or have it as an additional bag in the house. It’s up to you really.
Chocolate or sweets for the kids as a moral booster and a confort teddy or toy and pencils and pad so kids have something to keep their mind off the disaster.
Great idea!
i have hard time going to sleep in thick/layers... thus i do not favor camping.. but now that i have 3 kids i have to learn to keep warm
Some of these tips should help I hope. Let me know how you get on!
I have a 60ltr osprey backpack with a day pack I'm trying to pack to the moon and back. How do I pack light? Any suggestions?
I found with a bigger bag it allows more room for optional extras! So either go through your current kit and really evaluate what you have and if you NEED it. You might have to be quite cutthroat to winnow down to just the essentials. But if you’re happy to carry extras, and are able to, then go for it!
