Born and raised in Nevada, and this is a perfect explanation of gambling. Oh this and remember that casinos are able to offer room rates and other benefits that are cheap when compared to similar offerings from non-casino resorts, but are just their way to get you into their resort

As somebody who noticed right away at 18 that I was prone to gambling addiction when I started having unhealthy thoughts at the scratchoff machine, you did a really good job portraying it. All the excuses and convincing yourself, it can become a really vicious cycle, especially when you use your debt as your new excuse for gambling cuz you gotta get outta debt somehow right? Luckily I had the self awareness and stepped back from it at 18 when I realized how much those scratch offs sink their hooks into me. I'm my mid 20s, and I've still never stepped foot inside a casino

I only actually gambled for like 6 months, and it was never bad, but the amount I'd spend slowly increased month after month. Then the irrational "cmon I'm so close to a big hit, I can't stop now or somebody else is gunna get my jackpot" thoughts started getting stronger and more compelling, which made me realize that I'm just not the kind of person who can enjoy gambling casually. My best advice is to just know yourself as well as you possibly can, and don't lie to yourself. Then you can spot issues before they become serious

Finland is one of the only countries where gambling is OK in public places such as supermarkets or gas stations. There are state-operated gambling machines in many public areas. The cool thing about this is that the money actually supports many significant initiatives such as science, arts and culture, sports, war veterans, and youth.

I love how accurate the vegas airports are, ive been there once and only for a drive through las vegas and going through the airport and they shove those gambling machines in your poor naked eyes
"Opening up a booster pack and not getting any expensive cards....is like loosing your entire life savings" This quote embodies TCGs so well. And totally gives me Celebrations PTSD.
My uncle works security as a bouncer at a casino and he sees the SAME people every day. Not the employees, but the customers. He's seen people win HUGE jackpots, only to gamble it all away in the same day or the same week. Sure there are people he sees once and never sees again like tourists, but since he lives in a small town and it's an Indian Casino, the regulars really stand out as people with gambling addictions.

Quick tip for blackjack do not settle your number is over 16. You can calculate what the maximum is by looking at what cards they have safe for example they have a showing. The maximum they have is 13, so if you are over 16 in card numbers there you go James

I quite literally spit when i heard the first line of the video. Its just "i bet this'll be a nice thing to listen to while i get some stuff done" and out of nowhere; YOU SHOULD GAMBLE
This video is so great because your experience is identical to most addicts that get hooked. I worked in a casino bar for five years, and every single one of them had DOZENS of stories just like the anecdotes in the video. They take it further though. These stories will create superstitions that completely defy rational thought as well. Had these regulars we called "the screen lickers" because one time the husband's finger was wet from the condensation of his beer bottle, and he rolled a jackpot. So then he started getting cups of water and dipping his finger in to wet the screen. And then he got too lazy for that and started licking his finger instead. And then his wife started to do the same thing. It's wild. I once tried to explain the scam of jackpots to a regular out of curiosity to see if she would understand. In my state, jackpot winners of over $1200 owe 30% of the winnings back to the state for taxes. Since regulars/addicts are statistically the most likely jackpot winners and will just put all the money back...jackpots are literally a tax on being addicted. And they just don't get it. They whooped and hollered regardless and tipped me, the bartender, hundreds of dollars for their win...on a slot machine. Because it's supposedly good luck. Gambling addicts aren't just people who don't understand the stacked math of gambling, they're actually so superstitious that logic loses meaning to them entirely.

@Mr.Burger It doesn't matter if you're a bot or advertising for your videos or both, it's equally annoying and spammy either way.
As someone who’s planning a birthday in Las Vegas, the rush is truly something else. Casinos are definitely built to make you feel like you have a chance rather than having you deal with the reality your more likely to lose more rather than win (hence, the budget). Still mad fun!
