“My Symptoms Were BRUSHED OFF!” Shannon’s Colon Cancer Story | The Patient Story

In this cancer vlog, Shannon shares how her first colon cancer symptoms included severe abdominal pain after eating. Initial tests found an inflamed gallbladder, which was removed, but the pain persisted. Further testing then showed a mass in her colon and she was diagnosed with stage 2A colon cancer at 29.
Shannon underwent a colon resection to remove the tumor. Genetic testing confirmed she had Lynch syndrome, putting her at high risk for other cancers. She now follows an intensive screening protocol to monitor for cancer recurrence and new tumors.
She shares how she found support, encourages other patients to learn as much as possible and take it moment by moment, knowing you are not alone.

It would be interesting for folks to share what their diets are, with all the early onset colon cancer.

My friend’s 39 year old daughter went through this. You’re too young that why we didn’t test for cancer. Had a large malignant mass removed, all alone during COVID. Doing well now.

I've lost all trust in the medical doctors. They don't listen to their patients which can delay in solving life threatening problems. We have advocate for our own health.

Thank you for being so brave and sharing your story ❤ I got diagnosed 7 weeks ago I’m 45 years with 3 kids 5, 9, 17 my mum had colon and rectal cancer and now urinary tract cancer she is 77 years she isn’t treating this last cancer she wants to just live her life out she has suffered enough. I inherited the genetic gene from mum I had been getting colonoscopies every 2 years although my last one was 4 years ago they found a tumour I was told few weeks back it hadn’t spread my surgery is next Monday they are removing the whole colon and doing a resection with my iliem and rectum they also want to do a full hysterectomy because of the lynch I have 2 sisters with the gene also they both have had womb cancer I think this is why. I feel very undecided full hysterectomy when nothing is there although I know I’m at higher risk I know they say the decision will be mine. I live in Northern Ireland they seem to do things differently here just take everything away! I’ve been ok with my diagnosis I’m still exercising and eating healthy although the full hysterectomy bothers me it will be major surgery both being done together I’m worried about my quality of life afterwards going straight into full blown menopause I know it’s the safer option to keep me on this earth a bit longer but the life I have now is going to change I feel I will never be the same. I didn’t realise it at the time my fatigue, stomach pains, bloating you just never know I did get bloods done in November last year my iron thyroid etc extremely low and no dr called me!! Today I feel very lucky and grateful to be given another chance. I wish you well in your future again thank you for your story it helps hearing we are not alone ❤

I got a feeling my gf has cancer. She has anal bleeding, sick all the time, her stomach hurts all the time. She is even told me she is scared she is going to die. I've been telling her to go see a good doctor. But she takes medicine and moves on. I've told her for years to stop eating fast food l the time. Her family has issues with their health but she refuses to change. Now I believe she has cancer but nothing I can do.

Or she would have IBD … inflammatory bowl disease. She should check it because untreated disease will only bring havoc on her body and make it worse! Anal bleeding is often IBD or cancer

I was told and read that if you have a parent or sibling with colon cancer you should begin having a screening colonoscopy 10 years pripr to their onset. So in your case at age 35 since your sister was 45 when she had colin cancer.

Fiber is important if you want to reduce your chance of getting colon cancer. Eat fruits like apples and kiwis and drink a Apple Cider Vinager and real tea reguarly. Your body needs fiber to help remove deposits in your intestines and reduce inflammation.
