I want to know how many HOURS AND HOURS of individual and group practice this took before they recorded this. This is such a technically difficult timing song it's crazy that they were able to record it.

Don't try to compare the 2 bass singers. It is not fair or reasonable. PTX lost their basso profundo and, as Ben Bram their arranger explained, adjusted their music to compensate. Avi always was a singer-songwriter now he just gets to do it full time. He's much happier and we have this much new music to explore! as Avirel and the Sequoias Fields and Pier Quarter Past Four Sage and Stone Song for the Seeker Sweet Adeline cover - Hey Ya! as Avi Kaplan Change On the Rise Otherside The Summit Aberdeen I'll Get By It Knows Me Sweet Adeline part 2 Chains Born in California Full Moon Get Down Song for the Thankful First Place I Go cover - Lean On Me encore cover used House of the Rising Sun not released but performed When I Die Golden Hills and probably a couple more I forgot 🙂

Absolutely one of the TIGHTEST PERFORMANCES THEY'VE EVER DONE!🙂

Glad to see you back on Pentatonix again. I don't know if you're planning on checking out the original version of this or not, but I can tell you with ALL certainty that this version is about 10,000% better. Kiiara can't even sing her own song without special computer effects and edits. They've put out a LOT of great stuff the last few months, you've got some catching up to do!

Absolutely true! For me, practically EVERY PTX song is an original, because I’m unlikely to have heard it before, but SO MANY People had said that between them, they to Kiiarra’s song and TOTALLY upgraded it, without even trying! And you can See that Mitch truly isn’t trying! LOL. He’s singing as if, once this is done, he’s off to get a coffee! So laid back and relaxed. Like it’s rehearsal time, so he’s not going to expend the energy for a full out performance until later! So, because of these comments, I took a look at the original music video. Barry, I recommend that you do the same. Truly, without trying, Pentatonix wipe the floor with the original and throw it away! Mitch single handedly takes on all of the sound effects that she’s thrown at her song, in his “I’m not really trying” stride… Btw: I LOVE what you said about Avi/Matt! They are both beautiful souls and voices! 🤗

@@caroleceres I had listened to the original by Kiiara, and I hated it so much I couldn't finish listening to the end. In fact I almost did listen to the Pentatonix version because the original was so awful. The thought of trying to sit through that again was unthinkable, but I told myself this is Pentatonix, so if anyone can fix that mess it's them. I'm so glad I followed my "Pentaholic" instincts. I really liked this, and the more I hear it, the more I'm loving it.

Before I watched PTX's version of this song, I watched the original, because it's sooooo different, and so reliant on auto-tuney sort of stuff. The original is a fun song, but I could NOT figure out how they were going to do it without instruments--but alas! They KICKED ASS! WOO! I wondered if they did this partly to challenge themselves. The original artist cut in her own voice for the 3 parts "roof is" "falling" "let me love me" and "without ever letting me know." Mitch, for most of the song, chops up his voice to make it sound like it is cut in. At the end, they split it 3 way, Mitch, Kirsty and Scott do the same thing. So good, you have to watch the mouths to know!!!

I watched Change Is On The Rise for the first time a couple of months ago and went around singing it for days. SOOO good!

😜😂 hah. This in my recommendations, clicked it... OMG, don't remember the fly flying around and landing on your nose. (I would remember such a thing. Right? Right!) THEN... Good to have you back. I've missed you. I hope and pray all is well with you. I don't know if you've ever heard the original by Kiiara, but she sings with electronic help, especially the fast low to high notes. It's cool that Mitch does this all organically. I'm so glad you noticed Kevin and Avi. They were amazing. Most people who react to "Gold" (believe it or not) don't mention Avi. Drives me nuts! His bass is perfectly placed.

This is one of those songs where you really need to see the original to realize how amazing the cover is. Kiara used sampling and studio effects to sing her main track but Mitch just belted it out without even hardly trying.

Unbelievably good sound mixing in this video. You REALLY should watch the original version by Kiiara just to appreciate what Mitch is doing with the "vocal chop". Kiiara was using digital sampling...Mitch does it LIVE...with his VOICE. You're looking great by the way, Barry :)

Great reaction. I am so glad this reaction was not blocked.

It's easy to get lost picking out one voice then another, then another, you miss someof the most subtle but incredible things. Like Scott not missing a single breath or beat, just that flawless "oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh" in the background holding the tempo so perfectly and so completely nonchalantly. It's like he doesn't even need to try he's just so GOOD!!

I actually recommend you listen to original... to really... /know/ how much of Mitch Slap this upgrade is!

Even tho I love PTX, at first listen this wasn't one of my favorites. Now - definitely a favorite as I listened to the skill from each one of them to make this cool version. A bit repetitive in lyric and melody for me to LOVE the song, but I LOVE the way they sing it. Keep smiling Barry.

Yes, what's taking you so long to get to Avi's original solo work, Barry? You don't know what you're missing! It's hard to know which of his many songs to recommend you start with. Most reactors start with "Change on the Rise", but a couple of other suggestions - personal favorites among so many - are "Chains" studio version (audio only, very dramatic), "Get Down" studio version (audio only, a layered masterpiece), and "Full Moon" the live KZread Space concert version (a good one if you want to hear something calm and haunting). All of these are his originals, with him doing all vocals and much of the instrumentation (he doesn't do a cappella per se in his solo work). A whole new rabbit hole for you to venture down.

@@chrissynovful It was very hard to choose just a couple of his songs. He's written and performed nothing yet that isn't excellent. I'm hoping someone video's the performance he's doing right now (8:30pm on Friday night) in Nashville at a music festival, his first performance in a year and a alf in front of a live audience. He spoke in posts about how excited he is to be doing it again. Having been to 3 of his shows in 2019, I can tell you that he is awesome live.

I definitely heard the original second, and I can say I don't think it's a shame I didn't heard it first. I wouldn't have listened to it the whole way through if I wasn't watching it because I wanted to see the whole thing to compare to pentatonix. It's really not my taste in music. I love this version so much though it's amazing.

Listen to the way Kevin and Avi work together to create the low end. They way they hit off of one another in order to create the beat, and hold the vibe right where they want it. THIS is the example of the two of them doing that I point everyone to when I talk about it, this is what I show them to showcase what the Kevin and Avi did so well. 6:46- 6:56 It's also what I point to when I tell people that, while someone could be a world-class bass or a world champion beat-boxer, and STILL not want to be a part of this group. The effort, the talent, required to do what Pentatonix needs you to do, what they've built their group around, would be waaaaaay too much for a lot of people to handle. It's been said that Matt had some big shoes to fill when he came to Pentationx after Avi left. I think those shoes were so much bigger than a lot of people realize. And, he has done a wonderful job of fulfilling his part, his way. Do I miss Avi? Sure, sometimes. Do I love Matt? Absolutely. This was fun, Barry. Thank you.
