Absolutely fantastic video of an amazing director very well done and outside the box thinking. Love the content. Keep it up, brother. I work in Muncie, Indiana!!!

Nice idea for a video Brent. Here are my five: 5) Saving Private Ryan - the opening was unlike any war movie to that time. 4) Raiders of the Lost Ark 3) Lincoln - I love American visited and he brought Lincoln and the struggles of the times to life better than any other. Daniel Day Lewis was also perfect for that role. 2) Catch Me If You Can - a fun movie I can watch anytime it is on. It captures the period it represents well. and 1) Jaws - when that was on ABC’s Sunday Night movie it was a HUGE event. You described it well.

I've spent a lot of time studying watching and re-watching his films, and could go on for days about all of it, but I will spare you the pain! A film that often gets overlooked that I think is under-appreciated is Empire Of The Sun. It's not one of his more accessible pieces, perhaps a bit more moody and muddy, but it has a lot going for it especially considering it was made in the late 80s when he was in his prime, and shows him growing beyond his "Peter Pan era" of filmmaking. Great director, much to discuss!

I adore Empire of the Sun. Was just talking about this movie with my wife after I made this video and we decided we need to watch it again. Appreciate ya Alex...I was hoping you'd chime in with some thoughts. Would love to chat movies with you some day.

Great conversation. I think my top 5 would be 1. Saving Private Ryan 2. Jaws 3. Raiders of the Lost Ark 4. Schindler's List 5. Minority Report Growing up in the 80s, I didn't see Close Encounters... until I was well into adulthood, and it just didn't have the same impact on me after seeing so much media prior to seeing it. On a side note, a friend and I have been doing a 2 person film club and the first movie we watched was Westworld (1973) by Michael Crichton. One interesting point we discussed was the similarities of that film with Jurassic Park.

That's interesting, the similarities you mentioned between Westworld and JP. I'd be interested in hearing that..as well as discussing more about movies. I know you're a big cinema-file...would be fun. Appreciate ya!

Hey Brent hope you are well. Great video, are you aware (like the Star Wars cards) there are 1 * & 2 ** variations of the Close Encounters cards? Anyway, take care my friend.

Hey Kyle! Doing well. Hope you are as well. I definitely know about the "*" and the "**" variations, albeit I don't put a lot of stock into the difference. Maybe I should? How about you? I know you collect SW...do you look for the different variations? Appreciate ya!
