@@LarryLawtonJewelThief In my wilder days I've been in a few jails. Never prison. And you'd be surprised to know how the cops treated me when I was being a real asshole. The first thing I thought when I saw this lineup in this video is if you've ever met Danny Trejo. His story sounds about the same as yours. Saw your video comparison with jewel thieves. Nice. I sometimes joke about having hitchhiked cross country when I was a long-haired hippie, got saved in Nashville and moved on up to a Christian farm in Mansfield Ohio (not the prison) heh-heh.

@@LarryLawtonJewelThief Wow. I grew up in an attic too. In a one horse town of Devore my dad working for General Telephone as a cable splicer and bought this big old house. As the oldest I got my own room on the third level which was the attic. Same thing; Part of it you couldn't stand upright. It stretched the whole length of the house. About ten feet wide and thirty or so feet long. The living part was about 12 feet long. Wow again; My dad was vice president of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) of General Telephone during the strikes here in "Berdoo" in 1967. Vaguely remember carrying a picket sign. Or maybe that's what my mom told me years ago. Unions today SUCK.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, Larry. But you're incredibly brave for sharing your trauma and I like to think that by you sharing your experience, other victims of abuse will have the courage to come forward.

It takes a strong person to survive the life you led, and a stronger person still to be able to talk about what happened to you as a kid. Hats off you you, sir.

I love it when a person reflects on their mistakes, then use their experiences to lead others down the right path. You've done a really good job, Larry! You should be very proud! I know I am proud of you!

You should be proud of yourself for having the courage to talk about what happened to you as a kid, Larry. It takes a lot of courage to open up like that and it shows how good of a man you are. Much respect.

I have been abused by my sister's friend when I was just eight years old, this and many other things in my upbringing left their mark and made me make some mistakes, your story is actually inspiring and I thank you for making the last part authentic. You give your 11 year old self a voice now and giving hope to others who've been through similar shit, much love❤

I have an "ex-prisoner" friend here in finland and he has one same feature with you: He does not give a f**k about other people's opinions and he has always told me that "There are only choices, not destiny. And if you do a bad choice, choose again. It's never too late to choose again". So much love and respect from finland! Keep these up, i WILL watch and listen these. Best documentary/biography/"True stories" in years..... ....if even ever.

You are a survivor of the Catholic Church.... and the prison systems. Nothing can keep this man down!!

The childhood story makes me think back to my upbringing on Long Island when I was almost kidnapped. Grew up catholic and you said people used to come into the neighborhood. I lived in Brentwood. I was playing in the driveway and I almost got kidnapped by these two guys in a convertible who knew my name somehow, and they tried convincing me that my parents asked them to pick me up. Thankfully my mother opened the front door right then and yelled at me to come into the house and they drove off. Thinking back on it gives me chills. What if they kidnapped me I could have been murdered or assaulted. They also must have gotten my name by stalking the neighbourhood previously waiting for my parents to call my name to gain trust. Makes me think how many kids fell for that....

I never considered doing crime but watching your videos have made me think, damn, I still am never doing crime. You’re an amazing story teller and I really appreciate you sharing your experiences. Thank you for being so honest with your audience. The fact that you can go through everything you have been through and come out the other side doing good is amazing and really lends credence to the idea that people can change for the better despite what they’ve done and been through in their past.

I’ve watched this whole series several times and every time I hear Larry talk about his experiences as a young boy it gets sadder and sadder. Larry you are so resilient and honest. I live right down the street from him and personally know people that have turned their life around because of his program. He served his time, was and is are very 2 different words. I started watching your videos around a few days ago, and I am absolutely loving your videos you changed form a jewel robber to a person trying to change the prison system. I really respect that, you are a wonderful human being,keep up the great work!

I think its really great you talking to people about this kind of stuff because it shows people that you can bounce back from mistakes that you make in the past and can mold you into a better person. I 100% agree with what it says on your shirt "dont believe in bad people, believe in bad choices" because at the end of the day "excluding literal psychopaths" you choose what you do but deep down we all have a good heart. Just depends on whether we want to use it or not. Either way, I think you're a really great dude who has been humbled and is making a great name for himself by doing this. Stay awesome Larry!

WTG Mr. Lawton! Brings back memories: penny candies, going to Schugle's Drug store on the corner, orange pushups, playing football & baseball in the street, yelling out "CAR". Having to be home when the street lights come on.

The stigma gets removed. I mean if you can let something like that off of your chest to thousands of others, what hold does it have on you anymore? The answer is: NONE. Keep up the good work man.

We've all been there to some degree and it's good to hear you talk about even the most difficult of subjects. We need more individuals like yourself to talk and be open about their experiences with being abused. Your example will undoubtedly impact more people than could be quantified. The paradox of it all is that true strength is gained through vulnerability. Thank you for this video.

I know you have been fighting the American prison system. Could you consider do a video comparing another countrys prison system to the american one. Ex Norway where they focus in rehabilitating and making the inmates ready for the society, and also have relatively mild sentences. Would be great to see your points on that

I know that these types of abuses perpetrated on children happened in other denominations, but there's got to be a special place in hell for those gd catholic priests who did these things. And the way the catholic church swept it under the rug for so many decades.

I like this version better. It has more feeling.

Larry, ever think about doing film reviews and stuff like that? There's this film called The Score with Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro and Edward Norton. One of my favorite crime/heist films as it seems really authentic. Would love to know your thoughts on it sometime.

Your story about when you were young, i relate heavly too, i lived in a molding, falling apart trailer. I still remember all the crazy stuff we used to do, we took my dads old trash pipes and stuff, and made a running water system all throughout our woods by using the stream water,(we had a fresh spring always coming out of this hole), we built forts out of fallen over trees, sticks, it was the time of my life, besides the constant abuse ;/
