And it's one of the first things I have to take issue with. Uncle Larry has obviously never had "f*** you money". At some point, you can have so much money that it ceases to have value. It's like water, or carpet... it's just one more thing you have, use, and never think about. Crown was robbing the place because he wanted a challenge. (watch the whole movie. there's a lot going on.)

@@jfbeam Nah, I understand Larry's reason. For him, as someone who so poor he had to rob. He would never understand a rich man doing it for fun only. As he said, doing crime is dangerous, most of the time you end up in jail, so he never comprehend why people risk their lives for fun. Which is totally reasonable.

Yeah real fun until his world crashes in on you and either someone he robbed or owes money to comes to your family with a vengeance. Or the feds catch on and suck you into it, staking out your place, interrogating you and making you feel like you’re guilty of something just because your family member is who they are, then they try to use you against them and that’s a whole other kind of guilt. Not to mention the embarrassment when it goes around town your family has a criminal in it. Everyone starts looking at you differently. Friends, gf, neighbors, people you see on a daily basis. Had an uncle like that. He was really cool and trust me was the favorite uncle, until he wasn’t. Then it was just a nightmare for us, even long after he went to jail.

The thing about robberies too, is that you don't wanna get involved with anyone who's the "loose cannon" type. Yes, you need fear and intimidation which normally keeps people in line, but in a lot of robberies when they walk in and start throwing people around, you can almost bet they'd be willing to screw over their whole crew or resort to violence regardless of the outcome. There's been a lot of cases where bank robbers have harmed people even after they got what they came for. At that point, you have more charges and it's honestly a liability. Most successful unsolved robberies were ones where not a single shot was fired or a single person harmed.

Lets gang up... South bridge, 11:45 when sun is shining at an 40 degree angle and reflects on passing by people, safe is opening at 11:50 and closes after 15 minutes. Cops will be here in 10, at least 1 patrol car will be first, so we got 5 minutes to get in and out. Take the hard stuff, no paper, nothing personalized so nothing can be traced. I'll get the Baby Yoda mask to look cute, you get teddy bear or something...or just mom's pantyhose and sunglasses. The moment you get in, color down the height markings with large line up and down. We split it at our meeting point and get lost our own ways, never to be seen again. I have no relatives, no gf, I am forever alone, so don't bother blackmailing me.

I think that in "Heat" you CAN see how heavy those bags are and that the robbers are actually struggling. Maybe the actors don't have to carry 70 pounds but not 10 either. I'd be surprised to find that Michael Mann hadn't thought of that aspect, that's a director who makes you repeat a scene if the sound of the clothes hangers is not to his liking.

If you paid attention, most of the 11 came across as arrogant asshats who, if they didn't blab before the heist would afterwards eventually brag to everyone they knew about how cool it was and how cool they were. Additionally, there was a hundred things that could have gone wrong, any one of which would have blown up the whole thing.

In the movie “Snatch” the reason that one guy had all the guns is so that ALL of them didn’t get beeped on the metal detector. If you watch the beginning, the security guard is scanning them all, and the last guy (with the guns) is scanned, he just looks at the security guard and is like “what do you want me to do, drop my pants?” He just let’s him through.

What he just said- about taking the apple watches over the fine art- makes absolute perfect sense. It's something they teach you in economics- the teacher will often ask what something is worth, the students usually look at the intrinsic value of the thing in question- the labor involved in making it, etc.- but then the teacher reminds them that if they don't have a market for it, it's worth nothing. It's just an exercise to stress the importance of markets to students but- lines up perfectly with the thieves' mentality as well. What's it worth? Whatever the market will bear- and not one penny more.
