She should’ve shown her face at the first meeting - it’s for marriage and revealing your face is definitely a must ! Both parties are entitled to marry someone they’re attracted to.

We definitely need an update!!. I think the guy should have pushed back his nikah, tried to spend time with the girl and see if he can get over his feelings. I do feel for him because as much as we don't want to admit it, attraction does play a big role in relationships but sometimes the attraction can develop by spending time. So you never know

Just a little correction, the niqab is not necessarily something that is explicitly fardh or sunnah, there is ikhtilaf (differences of opinion) and everyone is free to follow the opinion of 1) fardh or 2) sunnah without the other view being negated - I wear the niqab myself and follow the view that it is fardh but I would absolutely allow a potential spouse to see my face during the first meeting. I certainly agree with you, she should have shown her face to the brother earlier on ...I'm thinking perhaps she kept it on that long due to anxiety or something?

I genuinely think the brother should be honest and say that he doesn't feel that there is attraction, the only reason I say that is because she chose to delay revealing her face for too long, had she not (and she defo knew what she was doing), they could have saved so much time and disappointment - btw the brother needs to take some responsibility as he could of asked to see her face much earlier on. That is even his right!

I was 26 when I got married and even I had second thought about some things. But I was highly attracted to my husband because of his appearance. I dont believe I would have married him if I didn't find him attractive and good looking.

I really feel for him. Physical attraction is very very important in relationships. I feel they did him dirty by waiting that long for him to see his face. It’s almost as like they knew. I wish my brother the best and the sister as well. They both deserve to be happy.

He is COMPLETELY entitled to be attracted to his wife. Infact Not being attracted to his wife at all may lead to serious problems .

subhan'allah there's a conflict of interest here. men usually can not comprise if there not attracted to the woman. Woman can compromise because of other things but men will marry someone who there attracted to on top of your other qualities. honestly, they did wait too long in the process for a face reveal. some guys are on the deen to the point that this wouldn't have bothered them at all because her deen would have made her more beautiful in his eyes. being disappointed by someone’s face has apparently happened a lot with covid and masks. I read that our brains kind of fill what we can’t see and it tends to be what we find attractive. I think here it was even worse bc he also really liked her or at least the idea of her.

In Islam you aren’t allowed to have sexual relationships outside your marriage….therefore both husband and wife absolutely have a 100 percent right to NOT marry someone who they aren’t attracted too…the reason why we stay virgin, dress and behave modest is because we know within marriage we will be able to fulfill our natural desires…..I know SOOOO many guys who ended up cheating on their muslim wives because they either didn’t get a chance to see their face/figure before marriage or were meeting the girl when she was wearing heavy makeup/hijab on just 1-2 occasions..after the Nikkah they learned the woman was unattactive or did not have the body he desired..women have more opportunity to see a man for how he actually looks in person but women will wear insane makeup, lashes,contacts, and ofcourse hijab and will cover their figure in loose dresses….so many times he will only see her natural after the wedding….

I think he prettified her because he liked her personality and then imagined her in such a pretty way since he's young and all, but then he got really disapointed. I don't know what the right thing to do is. The biggest error is to hide her face all along, she souldn't have let him imagine and fall in love, it almost feels like she did that on purpose to leave him with no choice but to marry her. Still it oculd be that she didn't realize, it also depends on how old she is, ahh this is too perplexe

It's up to the women if she wants to wear the make-up or not but preferably it's best to go all natural so that you don't get into this situation .... For example if a women comes all dolled up to a meeting looking like a model then if the wedding takes place and she takes the makeup off then the guy could be disappointed.

His heart sank out of disappointment I think. But again, how bad could she look. I am pretty sure she can't be that bad just that maybe he was expecting more or not attracted yet. I would advise they don't rush into the marriage. He should try to see if he could look past her physical appearance and if he can then they can go on with the marriage. In my opinion tho. As a human you will need to have some type of attraction to ur significant other. For men looks matter for them more then women. For example that is why many men marry younger girls because they will look more attractive bit longer then an older woman(not saying older women r unattractive 😃)

This is really sad💔but he needs to tell her the truth and I think he won’t pass the way she looks cause he is still very young, maybe if he was really matured he might just pass that.

That is one insane subhan Allah. I usually show my face at the second meetings with my wali present. Yes, I agree that love follows after marriage, but that has nothing to do with our attraction to each other. I never understand people who say they love him before they marry, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, I have to be attracted to him just as much as he has to be attracted to me because many people marry for various reasons, but one thing for many of us is to be able to lower our gaze and be intimate with our spouses, which would be difficult if there is no attraction at all. May Allah make it easy for them both. Ameen Yes, there are situations in which a woman wearing a niqab would reveal her face. 1. Proposal of marriage 2. Business dealings 3. Medical treatment In a few other cases, many hadiths state that it is permissible for a man to see the woman's face while the wali is present. With one Hadith, for example, the prophet saw has encouraged the companions to go look at the women they want to marry. Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “I was with the Prophet , and a man came to him and told him that he had married a woman of the Ansaar. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Have you looked at her?’ He said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘Go and look at her, for there is something in the eyes of the Ansaar.’” (Reported by Ahmad, 2/286, 299; Muslim, 4/142; al-Nisaa’i, 2/73). *there’s many other Hadith as well. I hope that cleared up some confusion for anyone!

Why is this so funny to me

The truth is most brothers want a hot sister, who is religious and obedient. She's s*xually appealing, like she wears revealing clothes while cooking. She's available 24/7 and doesn't go anywhere, but at the same time she's not around him either. Everyday he comes home to a table full of hot meals. She's cool with polygamy and would make a good mother, among many other things. I can keep the list going, but they just don't say these delusions out loud even though this is what they're thinking. But in the end he'll tell you he want a woman of deen 😂😂😂😂 Sisters need to know what they want so they don't get humiliated by a man that doesn't know what he wants.

Whether you follow the school of thought that says niqab is wajib or sunnah, it is allowed to show the face before the nikah because the Prophet salalahu aleyhi wasalm said so. From al-Mugheerah ibn Shu’bah: “I proposed marriage to a woman, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Have you seen her?’ I said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘Look at her, because it is more fitting that love and compatibility be established between you.’” According to another report: “So he did that, and he married her and mentioned that they got along.” (Reported by al-Daaraqutni, 3/252 (31, 32); Ibn Maajah, 1/574) As for make up, scholars say it is not halal to put on make up in front of non mahrams. It doesn't mean like for example if u have extreme acne u can cover it up with some foundation or something ( if u do, don't withheld the information from ur potential spouse) and stuff of that sort. But generally make up that beautifies u a lot more and changes ur appearance is not allowed in front of non mahrams as make up is an adornment and we can refer to the aya in surah nur surah nur aya 34 And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity, and not to reveal their adornments1 except what normally appears.2 Let them draw their veils over their chests, and not reveal their ˹hidden˺ adornments3 except to their husbands, their fathers, their fathers-in-law, their sons, their stepsons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons or sisters’ sons, their fellow women, those ˹bondwomen˺ in their possession, male attendants with no desire, or children who are still unaware of women’s nakedness. Let them not stomp their feet, drawing attention to their hidden adornments. Turn to Allah in repentance all together, O believers, so that you may be successful.

Face should be shown. Bare face is preferred. Minimal makeup (if any) is acceptable. Imagine someone marrying you and then posting on Reddit - 'My wife duped me with makeup and now I want to divorce.' 🤡

If he's not attracted he should not marry her. Maybe she looks different with her hair out? Let her go so she can find the right man

Makeup in front of non mahram is haram. Your future husband is not your mahram , he only becomes it when you have the nikkah x

I don't understand how come he never saw her face from the very first time ??!! That is just not okay and not islamically correct. It's allowed and even a must for the woman to remove her niqab in front of the suitor . I thought he meant he needs to see her again!! There is something seriously wrong with the culture of these people. They confuse culture for religion. Ofcourse he should leave or else he will be committing injustice with her and with himself too.
