    Maybe you should try Japanese sunscreen? Their sensitive sunscreens are quite gentle. Because when you mix anything with sunscreen, you compromise the film forming abilities and you don’t get the stated SPF. Also, you need a ton of foundation to get the stated SPF value. And there are some ingredients that can mess with sunscreen filters to make them less effective.

    Alot of Japanese sunscreens are full of alcohol😭😭I don’t even have sensitive skin but it stung my eye 😭😭 the smell is also so so strong 😭😭 if they removed the alcohol or decrease the percentage it would be so good cuz I love the formulation over all and the dewyness it leaves 😩🫶🏼

    i'd say japanese sunscreens tend to have a nice texture but oftentimes contain alcohol, in my experience korean sunscreens are more dewy and easier to find sensitive skin friendly picks

    @@joy7367 Agreed! As someone with veryyyyy sensitive skin that is also acne-prone, my two favorites are the cult-favorites: Beauty of Joseon Sun Relief and the Isntree Watery Sun Gel. Both have amazing sun protection, very light and smooth texture, no fragrance, and just an overall pleasure to use. Would highly, highly recommend for those with sensitive skin

    ☀️ a sunscreen factoid sorry : I understand sensitivity is a huge issue for some so please do what you want and what keeps your skin happy , however … for those truly seeking adequate uvb/uva protection , this method will not protect you . The protection factor (spf) on foundations is hard to achieve on your skin because you would have to apply a shit ton of that foundation , and reapply every 2 hours if outdoors .. I get no one is doing that , but mixing sunscreen into another lotion is also a really easy way to not get any sun protection at all .

    I can think of nothing worse than putting 6 layers of sunscreen on in a day especially when you wear makeup. That would ruin it. 🤮 I rather wear a hat and a mask in strong sun.

  • @Julia36D

    @Julia36D

    You don’t need to wear sunscreen on your face every single day. It’s good to get some daylight on your skin and sunscreen blocks d3 which is essential for us. If you’re not spending time in the sun, foundation blocks enough uv out for just running around. You say you understand sensitivity, then add a “but”, meaning you have no idea how toxic sun creams are to many people who break out, get rashes, eczema and even weird burn like marks. Far more damaging to the dermis than a bit of daylight.

    @@Jessinkorea if you’re staying mostly indoors, you only need 1 layer. And I know it’s frustrating when sunscreen doesn’t work with makeup, but a lot of new Japanese and Korean sunscreen actually makes makeup look better.

  • @Julia36D

    No, you don’t. I don’t know who came up with this idea that you must slather on sunblock every day even though it’s winter and you’re indoors. We actually need vitamin d to penetrate the skin which it can’t do if you’re covered in sun cream. Separately, that stuff has a lot of chemicals in it and your skin absorbs all this into the blood stream.

    @@Julia36D I don't know where you got your information from, but studies have shown that regular use of an SPF 15 or higher sunscreen reduces your chances of developing squamous cell carcinoma by about 40%, melanoma by 50% and premature skin aging by 24%. Clinical studies have never found that everyday sunscreen use leads to vitamin D insufficiency. They have shown that people who use sunscreen daily can maintain their vitamin D levels as most apply far less than the recommended amount. The benefits, as mentioned above, outweigh the negatives, but if vitamin D is a significant concern, a doctor can recommend taking a vitamin D supplement. On top of that, studies that have found any absorption when sunscreen is used at its recommended amount have indicated that absorption does not equal risk, and continued use is recommended. So yes, if you are indoors all day, you probably don't need to worry about sunscreen, but even on cloudy days where up to 80% of the UVL rays penetrate through the clouds, you definitely should. Do what you wanna do with your body and health, but don't dish out misinformation that can be harmful. I stress this as someone born and raised in Australia, where sun protection is critical and taught from a young age; I have had many older family members cut up and scarred due to skin cancer from sun exposure without adequate protection. Here are my references for further information: (1) Skin Cancer Foundation. Sun Protection and Vitamin D. (2) U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Shedding More Light on Sunscreen Absorption. (3) FDA Voices. American Medical Association. (4) What doctors wish patients knew about wearing sunscreen and The science of sunscreen. Harvard Health Publishing.

I think most of the stuff pushed these days is a money grab unless you are using a product to treat acne. If all these products did what they claim - all these celebs using the most expensive serums and creams who also get regular facials, peels, etc wouldnt need to keep getting brow and face lifts.

    Omg finally I met someone who is struggling with similar skin issues. My skin reacts to everything: retinoids, AHA, BHA, HA, azaleic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C and sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens are the worst for me (tried multiple: Korean and Japanese - nothing works). Mineral sunscreens are better but I still feel itchy. However I have to battle it through cause while using actives I take sun protection seriously. Yes, I do use actives just slather myself in skin soothing serums and moisturizers to prevent severe irritation. I also believe everyone has a right to decide for themselves how much sunscreen they need or want. It is important to educate ourselves and others about the importance and amounts recommended to be used daily. But I’m against bullying people into using sunscreen. I see a lot of it on social media unfortunately.

    My skin is extremely reactive also, and has actually gotten worse the older I've gotten. I finally got skin patch testing done to ID, my biggest triggers, and I feel with all the things u react to, you may have some of the same that I do. There is ofcourse a difference between, a sensitising agent, an irritant and an allergy. Problem is if you have multiple things, and those things tend to be in most products, it becomes very easy to go from something that irritates and progresses to a full blown allergy over time. My main things were Collophony - had no idea what it was but is actually in everything Fragrance - Balsam of Peru - Nickel Talc 1,2 3 are in Sssooooo many things you would use for your, skin, hair, body and makeup, and there are a long list of derivatives that are made from them. If you google patch testing results or dermatological sensitivity agents, you can find a comprehensive list of the obvious to not so obvious ingredients to look out for. Also helps for cross referencing what you know you can't use, and seeing the things that show up in all those products.

However, my ex, also encouraged corrupt thinking because he was abused in the wrestling community of Canada. There's lots of trauma here within indigenous communities. Sometimes hope for some is a far off reach. I didn't really grow that way, being the only child between my parents and far range from my age to their other children, but clearly it still effects me. While I'm also raising my children within these effects. Life changed with my parents when I came along. And my siblings resent this. My father sobered up and turned hus entire life around. What he blocked out came back at him in his passing. My mom only had two separate child rearing were 13 yrs apart. Just giving you the facts. The Cetaphil wash cleared up my acne when nothing else would, the hydrogel cream is godsend for my skin best moisturizer I've ever tried, and the vanicream doesn't break me out like other sunscreens. Actually all three of those products are verified not to have any acne causing ingredients either and all quite cost effective compared to other products. Sorry for the long reply but thought I'd share what worked for me considering it took years of washing my face with only water before I discovered something that didn't cause my face to start a war with itself.

    tip: do NOT rub your hands together when doing skincare unless its a cleaner and whatever, because a whole lot of it will stay on your hands (serums, sunscreen, etc) this is no hate i just hope it helps anyone
