Im really enjoying the show. Im definetely not catching a Goosebumps tone with this, but I'm reaalllllyyyy enjoying this darker, more adult take on it. I just wish we got more Goosebumps than teen drama.

@@fortnitedan3615It reminds me of that and the Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark movie which I also loved. I’m glad it’s not like the movie and they tried to be scary, and surprisingly a bit more graphic. While I don’t think it tops The Haunting Hour: The Series (I’m still in the middle of the third episode), it’s still a close second.

The other thing good about anthology series is it gives more people a chance to act and perform. Get themselves out there to land better opportunities. This eliminates that completely, and I think there are way too many people wanting to get into the business for a company like Disney to deny them. Ryan Gosling had a good start in Are You Afraid of the Dark, and a few other notable actors/resses. You also manage to keep the budget more of a set base over having to inflate for specific people over time to compensate for their worth, and that can wreak havoc on a budget that's feeding into other parts such as filming, graphics, props, etc.

I've read all the books and seen all the original episodes from the original series. This series is stupid as it disrespects the writer of the books and original tv series. Honestly I think this new series was made simply to help some young actors get a foot hold in the industry rather than to try to make a genuine effort to do a respectful reboot of the original series.

Just finished watching the first 5 episodes released and it wasn’t bad honestly. I never seen the trailer and I’m glad cus this trailer spoiled the plot and there would have been surprises I would have saw coming. I’m eager to see more episodes. I’ll say that this is different from the original where that was more for kids and told solo stories and this is one story tied with multiple Goosebump stories. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad idea but it’s different and definitely for teens and older. Although this can be a hit or a miss depending who u are and what u expected out of this. I been a fan of Goosebumps as I grew up with it back in 90s and early 00s. Watching this was for sure something I didn’t expect, but I did accept what they were doing with it and it’s decent.

I just don’t understand why they have to make everything so mature and edgy. The fun thing about the goosebumps books were that they were about little kids dealing with wacky to very scary things. If they had made the show about a group of very young kids the stakes would’ve been so much higher. I could give less of a crap about a group of very old highschool students because there’s no real threat to them that’s as bad as the stuff that they have to prepare for in real life. Whoever came up with this idea and whoever wrote the series needs to get left out of the WGA strike deal

  • @drudle

The fun thing FOR YOU was the whacky and silliness. But this show is legit made for tweens. You know, the same kids who have been playing mature horror games for years, watching LPs on KZread, and don't want to be embarrassed for watching a baby show for babies. You aren't their demographic; middle schoolers are. And lemme tell you, if there's nothing middle schoolers love more it's pretending that they're so adult by watching supposed edgy and mature things. And this absolutely satisfies their craving. Giving kids a tween version of American Horror Story grittiness is a total win for whoever is writing this.

Just like with the Jack Black movies, I'm actually glad Goosebumps went this direction. The original television series was as perfect of adaptations as you could get. Almost line-for-line recreations of the stories in the books with the cheesy campiness that matched the covers while still having a freakiness to them that could legitimately scare. The movies and this series pays great tribute to the books and brings the creatures/stories in them to life without rehashing what we already got. And while I agree that they miss the mark on the "goosebumps" aspect a little (the reboot misses it a lot when it focuses on the teen drama bs), they are still enjoyable as new adaptations of the original material.

I'm loving the show so far. It's got real Horrorland vibes - anthology lead in to the connected story, all culminating with characters meeting up to confrontation with a collection of enemies? Hell yes. Give me all of it. The tone and set up is definitely vibing with more of a "kid's American Horror Story" or something similar. They're really trying to push it as less "10 year old saying dorkwad" and more "sinister town with pseudo-murderous parents" etc etc. To be honest, I think they're trying to align it with the feel of the Fear Street Netflix show, just for tweens. It'd make sense for both to be similar in narrative styles and I'm here for it. I don't need a zany ending of alien snot and the kid looking up into the camera going, "AHHHHH".

I mean some jokes the animated movies in PG musicals have are very adored, but kids don’t typically get it in the adults do. I don’t know what the guys mad about because it literally tells you it’s TV-14 I think when it starts which usually means rated R for TV…

This is a show where my opinion keeps flip-flopping On one hand, the show when it remembers it's a horror series it does the horror really good, the scene what the football guy sees the camera in his locker, when the worm guy purposely breaks his hands and later when we see the worms crawling around under his skin, I thought those scenes were really great. On the other hand though, as someone who grew up reading the book religiously, I hate how little every item plays into the plot or has nothing to do with it's book counterpart. The biggest offender in that in my opinion was the Cuckoo Clock of Doom, I feel like that's what they should've used to learn the backstory of Biddle's murder. Instead they used it for a clone story which I feel like could've been better suited for something like Monster Blood Overall I don't hate it but I think it frustrates me enough to the point where I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone, I might recommend scenes on KZread, but never the full series itself

I wish they would give us more fear Street even if was anthology style. And fear Street is already more mature goosebumps. Goosebumps had scary concepts but rl stein wrote it for kids. Fear Street was supposed to be grown up goosebumps. My explanation for likeking stuff in own genre is this... Goosebumps while tamer is still horror.
