My Reaction to Toby Keith’s Don’t Let the Old Man In!

In this video, I give my reaction to "Don't Let the Old Man In," a phrase coined by Clint Eastwood and popularized by Toby Keith in his song of the same name. I talk about how we can all live full and energetic lives at any age by ignoring the negative voices that tell us we're too old to do certain things. I also share my own personal experiences with aging and how I stay active and healthy.

This song is the perfect tribute for Toby sadly after his passing. I have been a huge fan of his ever since I was 10 in 1993. It's heartbreaking seeing this one of his final live performances and realizing he was telling everyone goodbye. RIP Big Dog.

It hits differently to the older of us, if you know what I mean. I watched a teenager do a cover of it and couldn't watch it all the way through. He could play the notes but he just couldn't present the lyrics in a believable fashion for me.

Toby, I cried the first time I heard this, and now that you're gone, I am crying more profoundly. I am in my 70s, and I am trying to keep the old man outside, but I also have an affliction that will let him in faster than I want him to come in. The essence of spirit and the life in me is fighting to keep him out, but eventually, time will have its way with all of us. Old man time is unrelenting.

Yes Stomach CA. I remember when Toby told everyone about this story n I have listened to this song over 100 times since God took him home. The night before this he had a party at home n decided to enjoy 3 glasses of wine n all thru night he was very sick ( I'm an RN n you should not drink alcohol having Stomach CA but I understand why he wanted to do that) Back stage before going on he said he was very weak ( he was moving slowly but he wanted to perform for everyone. I haven't listened to the end of your video as I'm at work but wanted to tell some more about that night. At rehearsal ( which he almost missed as he was sick) when the producer came up to Toby n handed him the song he wanted him to sing( of course it was this song)Toby said " this will be a bummer" he was planning to sing one of his upbeat songs as the one guy was singing his song "Who's Your Daddy" but he sang this as the producer said it felt right. Toby wrote this for everyone to live by. Of course the audience saw this as a farewell song from him. He said women n Men had tears in their eyes. The song exploded n went to number 1 the next day. Toby, we will not forget you n keep singing n writing songs for God n all the Angels heart ♥ ❤

I spent 8 days in the hospital with two days the surgeon not knowing if I was going to make it or not. My surgeon sat at my bedside, not a nurse. I have never known such kindness and concern. I understand Toby's lyrics but in a song the lyrics have many meanings very individual to the listener.

Wow, Sir, the person either was directed to your account via recommendation or by strange algorithm it looked interesting to Wilma ober Frank who gave you an honest review of Mr. Keith. This person cared enough to listen to you thinking you would have something interesting to say. You didn’t. Not even a little. I’m very sorry your heart has hardened so. Mr. Keith is an icon to many of us. His songs seeded to our culture. We grieve for Mr. Keith and his family. I spent the last six months with my best friend who passed of liver cancer, only to be diagnosed three months later with non Hodgkin lymphoma. After going through surgery and radiation, I worked myself back to normal duty. Less than a year later my cancer spread throughout. I went through additional surgeries, chemotherapy and such, I was so thankful for my colleagues and friends. But it was Mrs. Parks, Michael Parks, siblings and church prayed for me. Like Toby credited God for bringing him through to now where he is with stomach cancer I thank God for saving me. God hears our prayers. I’m living proof. Praying for Mr. Keith and his family. We love you for all you have given to us. God bless. And I am going to pray that God softens your heart. You can unleash your wrath if you so desire but these folks didn’t deserve your wrath. We all feel pain in our lives but we do not deserve to be piled upon. May we all learn from this and be better people. May God bless each of you and give Mr. Keith comfort, peace and be engulfed by love.
