Lisa was still in school and working two shifts to make ends meet! How was she going to be able to take care of a child? She did the right thing for both parties!

Seriously these parents are so stupid and messed up! Honestly how is OP going to raise a child that the parents wanted to dump on their forgotten daughter while dealing with college full time and working a double shift at the college library?! That is so messed up.

@diamondminer9515 EASY, THOSE FORMER PARENTS WILL TRY TO FIND ANY WAY TO USE THEIR FORGOTTEN DAUGHTER AS A SCAPEGOAT WHILE MICHAEL IS THE IRON PYRITE CHILD(TRANSLATION: FOOL'S GOLD). THE REAL GOLD IS LISA WHO'S DOING THE RIGHT THING AND MAKING THE REAL GOLD AND HAS THE GOLDEN HEART. LIKE I SAID THEY ARE DEFINITELY MARIA MEAN-ASS AND JUAN JACKASS MONTEZ ON STARGIRL DC TV SERIES. WATCH SEASON 3 EPISODE 7.

Sometimes you have to forget the "family" aspect of life and be somewhat selfish and do what is right for you. Decide on your own path in life and do not let others guilt you into making poor decisions. We must learn from our past experiences and forge ahead and be the best person we can be.

If Lisa had the means and wanted to take care of her niece, that would have been fine. After how she had been dumped by her parents, she actually handled telling them, 'no,' in graceful manner. They reaped what they sowed.

This isn't a family this is a toxic group of people. A true family doesn't pick and choose when you are useful too them and when to ignore you.

Something I MUST say,`cause why did`nt she just say..."I WAS my Mom and Dad`s Daughter, yet at 12,THEY booted ME OUT..Where were they, when I WAS IN TROUBLE?" When the relations was getting on her case, why did`nt she just...Say that,to them? I`m confused!

LISA WAS SURELY JUSTIFIED IN NOT TAKING EMMA IN. HER FORMER PARENTS IGNORED HER FOR YEARS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THEY NEEDED A SCAPEGOAT TO USE ON LISA. THOSE FORMER PARENTS ARE DEFINITELY MARIA MEAN-ASS AND JUAN JACKASS MONTEZ ON STARGIRL DC TV SERIES. HOW DARE THEY TRY TO MAKE LISA LOOK LIKE THE BAD PERSON. MY HEART DOES GO OUT TO MIKE FOR FOR LOSING HIS WIFE IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. THERE'S NO EXCUSE WHATSOEVER TO TRY TO USE LISA THAT WAY. SHAME ON THE FORMER PARENTS AND RELATIVES.

Situation wise it was probably for the best that Lisa said no to taking care of Emma. At the time Lisa was still in college and had to work double shifts to make ends meet. She wouldn't have been able to care for Emma. Even if she could take care of Emma she'd be away at classes or working most of the time. That would most likely lead to Emma feeling unloved or like she was always the second choice just like Lisa felt. I'm sure Lisa would have felt horrible if she put another child through that.

Wait a minute! The story made it sound like the brother was constantly at death's door; pretty much bedridden. How in the world was he able to find a girlfriend, marry her and have a child? Something is DEFINITELY wrong with this picture. EDIT: And another thing: If OP's extended family (who were constantly berating her) were so concerned about Emma then THEY should have stepped up to the plate.

  • @rebekah.2187

Someone edited this story oddly. They made it sound like she was still in college when her parents asked her to take care of Emma, and then suddenly she had a job. Either way, it doesn't matter. I find it very difficult to believe that one parent couldn't have spent time and paid attention to Lisa while the other parent cared for her brother. He was Lisa's brother right? I'm trying to figure out how he married and had a kid when he was so sick all the time. Like I said, it was poorly edited.

Lisa was right, not taking in her niece. That was not something she needed to do especially when they were all the relatives in the family. But I do have a question the way the parents often spoke about the brother and why they sent Lisa away it seemed like he was always in the hospital always needed help, so how did the wind up getting married and having a child?

What is wrong with the family? OP was abandoned by her own family now they want her to be free babysitting. If the baby is so important how about they take care of her instead of relying on OP. How pathetic and toxic does someone have to be to expect free child care from someone they neglected

Sounds like bull crap to me. Op parents cant be arsed to watch her. Were being selfish!. Not even parents or grandparents. Emma will find out one day that they tried to hand her over. She'll be pissed.
