My Parang came in
Since my SOG is worn out, I decided to get another machete. I had seen the tang parang earlier last year and loved the shape and reviews, but thought that's a bit pricey. I wanted to get a different parang but they were sold out everywhere I looked. So, I ended up settling for this parang. It's a bit heavy compared to my SOG and the blade is thicker. I think the parang will serve me well.

Ahhahaha! Steve's WoodWorking & Homestead, that is TOO funny! Love the pun! 🍋
Nice video. I like the machete. Beautiful design with wooden handle.. 👍👍
Awesome, glad you like it. Perhaps you should try the 10 inch version, probably more suitable for your work. The one you have looks like the 12 inch heavy version , a bit heavy in my opinion . Have a great day!

You are right about it being a bit heavy! Thank you @NadirOutdoorDynamics for suggesting the 10 inch version!
Really nice video. It's so nice to see a lady enjoy My Parang machete. You got good taste and you definitely know a Quality Utilitarian Tool. Bidor Malaysian Parangs are built tough. It should last a lifetime.

You know me very well L P.! Well said! Glad you loved the video. I'm always glad when you come by my channel L P.!
Can't say I'm a fan of the handle design as I like a lanyard to be able to keep it tight in my grip at all times. I have Condor Village Parang and they use to offer them reasonably priced until people started buying them. Now they have more than doubled in price in the last two years.

Hello MrOldclunker! Thanks for coming by. The Condor village Parang has a very interesting handle. I'm used to the Machetes we had when my dad was stationed in Panama Canal Zone. Simple, ubiquitous and lightweight compared to the parang.
Sweet blade Linda, please be careful hacking stuff with it...that solo bonfire is sweet too.

louie V thank you for the admonition! Especially practice caution and safety when I'm processing fatwood! Gotta make sure my fingers and hands are out of the way! I love the solo! I decided to get the large and I certainly don't regret it. It was a bit pricy though.
No regrets....but i custom ground the blade to perform a broader variety of tasks. Throat needs sharpening to whittle or make fine kindling. Efficient comfortable secure grip. Easy on the wrist.....this is a viable go to for any B.O.B. It is in mine.

Oh wow! Thank you for that tip! Yeah, I have a machete from Panama Canal Zone and it's much easier on my wrist than the parang
Nice machetee.

im almost thinking if there is a way to attach a lanyard to that handle to put on your wrist to give you extra security when using that blade.🤔

Interesting thought SunsetBay Bonnie. It is a little heavy especially compared to my SOG.
Gorgeous machete 😊
2:42 Pronounce as "bee"-"door". Bidor is a small town in Malaysia. Now the town is well known for parang (pronounce as "par"-"rung") making. There are several varieties or styles of parang - Malaysian traditional machete. Yours is a "duku chandong" parang style. Hope you like your parang as much as I love my 10" version myparang. :)
