    Tucker, could you share what oil and mix ratio you use? I know its not an endorsement about what everyone should run but I'm curious. I'm running Motul 800 somewhere around 50:1 - 55:1

    Ahh! I keep going back and forth. Everyone around me is using the Nitro, but I really like everything about the Scout every time I make up my mind and think the Nitro would be better to maintain because of friends nearby you post something like this and bring be back to wanting a Scout. Oh well I still have plenty of time. Also you should review the OpenPPG sometime! Thanks for sharing!

    @ryan rose I have been running Motul 800 50:1. I think I might switch to 60:1 for my next batch. I ran 70:1 for the Icarus race with no issues.

    I, for one, don't care whether you're sponsored or not. What comes across is a real review of one who uses a piece of kit. I'm a tad heavier and older so weight of equipment is a big consideration for me. If my pennies do stretch to a scout then yes, I'll get one, first I'm in the market for good second hand kit and I've seen your vlogs on that too. So you're my number one, go to guy for the fun of flight, safe flight and kit reviews. Many thanks Tucker.

    I appreciate that you showed you'd actually had to do some carbon fiber repairs. A lot of people think carbon fiber has unobtanium in it. The fact is it's very similar to working with fiberglass which is equally easy to do repairs on. It's nice to hear that they will be offering an E-start option and even nicer that the pull start will be there as a backup.

    Nice review! I think beginners will have a more extensive list of pros and cons for the Scout. I have a list of things I'd change in a heartbeat....stronger frame, easier netting replacement, reinforced seat edges, quick release harness, extra spar w/ purchase, smarter safestart, marked gas tank (L/Gal), reinforced spars, etc. There's also stuff I'd never change --- Moster engine, torque compensation, harness comfort, under seat reserve, storage nooks, carbon parts, etc.

    Thank you Tucker for this. As someone looking to train as a paramotor in 2020 (and currently hovering under and around the 300lb mark....a big guy) I find your knowledge refreshing. Nothing beats training, I get that. But also nothing beats your favourite KZreadr giving out important personalised feedback. I do have one question I hope you can answer if you come across this message.....would you advise me to learn as a solo man on a Tandem wing with regards to my weight? (Just so I have a target of how much money to put aside for gear when I do decide to purchase after training). Great video as always and look forward to your future videos. From across the pond....peace out!

    You may have just sold me on the Scout with the harness being able to handle 15 G's though I'm nowhere near experienced enough to put that to the test as of yet definitely something to grow into also having the ability of having a paramoter with the dual start is something I could check off my list of wants and needs in a paramotor as having the electric start and pull start Together would be awesome!

I guess I'll be able to review it once i actually get it! ;o) Quick question though... What is the fuselage frame hanging there in your garage? I used to work at an airport where my boss had that and the wings hanging. Was going to build his mid-wing acro plane... sorry to say he died before he got to start it... Anyhow, awesome as always! I’d like your take on it if you have it’s a bit cheaper than a Parajet Maverick and Scout for sure but if there’s a huge difference in performance I’ll probably just go with a parajet maverick. I know this videos old so you may not see the comment but hoping you do, i looked for a video of you testing one but didn’t find one. Thanks man and great vids as always. Corey

    Double dippin' - 1) How much (approximately is the Safe Start?, and 2) Do you have any recommendations on 4-stroke engines? I really don't like oil/gas motors and 4-strokes are quieter, more fuel efficient, and pollute less. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of those points? I know there's the weight issue... but IF you had to fly a 4-stroke, which would you pick?

  • @TuckerGott

    @TuckerGott

    5 жыл бұрын

    The safe start comes standard on the Scout, not sure of its price alone. There isn't currently a 4 stroke I would consider practical. The power to weight ratio just isn't there.

  • @3dsman

    @3dsman

    5 жыл бұрын

    I just watched a video from Scout on their 4 stroke development from earlier this year. I see your point. They're quite a ways off from a production product. I wonder why they don't just work with Honda or Ryobi who both make awesome long-lasting 4-strokes. Oh well, in the meantime, I see your point... nothing usable exists today.

  • @shagmesilly78
    @shagmesilly784 жыл бұрын

    Question.... the torque compensation must be "balanced" at a certain speed, as the setup is a pusher prop, so the fins aren't influenced by any airflow from the prop. Do you notice any difference between when you fly low speed Vs high speed? I realise that that the overall speed of these things aren't massive, but I'm just curious!

  • @shagmesilly78

    @shagmesilly78

    4 жыл бұрын

    Forgot to ask.... Instead of making the fins counter the torque effect, why not just offset/angle the thrust line of motor like they do on single engine aircraft? The reason I ask this is, if you turn your engine off in cruise, don't you feel the opposite of what the fins are trying to offset when the power is on???? I think it's a bloody nice looking bit of kit though... I'd definitely look into this if I manage to convince the wife to let me fly paramotors :)

    There a number of criticisms around the web of maintenance issues associated with the motor. Probably the biggest issue is exhaust weld cracking on low hour engines. Has anyone produced an honest evaluation of these issues and assessed what is being done to correct them?

  • @TuckerGott

    @TuckerGott

    5 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately, I don't think there has been the best communication about these issues. It is my understanding that one of the versions of the exhaust had issues and they have since released a new version that shouldn't have issues. The version I have hasn't had any problems as far as I know.

    I'll be training on a Gravity, as soon as my training resumes; they're pretty damn sexy... strong as hell, and you can easily replace parts inexpensively if you have a mishap. Paired with an Atom80, it's about 52lbs dry. Considering the Atom80 is nearly twice as fuel efficient as a Moster185, I'm leaning towards probably getting that motor when I eventually buy something...

    Got my atom 80 at the weekend. Very impressive! Crazy power for its size and its unreal how quiet it is!

    I'm about 175-180lbs... Do you think the Atom80 will feel powerful enough for my size? I've only seen one started up once - and at full throttle it was very impressive how strong it seemed. Of course, I wasn't able to compare it to the moster at the time. I will be able to try both out while I'm training, but my instructor thinks I'll enjoy the Atom80 more... I guess it's a decision of power vs. efficiency.

    @10:31 4Reals!? THE Tucker Gott has butt landed! You really need to throw us a quick 'blooper' reel of your less than perfect moments. I get that you may not have a lot of material for it though.

    Pretty much all of my fails that were caught on camera have made it into videos already. The butt landings I referred to weren't caught on camera, unfortunately. 😕

    Tucker, when you were first training, did you have any butt landings, or other mishaps? It would be cool for you to do a video about your training experience. I know you've been interviewed by Eric and Travis for their videos, but I think you could put together something (even if it was mostly a monologue like this video) where you go over some of the details, i.e., what you struggled with, if anything, what equipment you trained on, etc. Since I began my training (and I've only had 2 days worth before my instructor became very ill - he's still in the hospital), kiting in reverse has definitely been a challenge for me, mostly due to lack of decent kiting weather. The winds are either too strong, or not strong enough. Keep up the great work, and thank you for all your time and energy that you put into this work!
