Thanks for the video. This model is identical to Metabo BA318. I bought one and found it has a lot of design and manufacturing issues. Although the local dealer was very supportive and I was able to resolve some problems some remain difficult. I think the two major issues. 1st is the band saw tensioning spring is poorly made so it won't last and it has insufficient strength to tension bi-metal blades. The solution is to replace the spring with a similar spec US made spring, I could find two suppliers. 2nd is the top band saw guide track, it's unstable and inaccurate due to design flaw, tracks wearing out very quickly. I couldn't fix it so i sold the saw. Hope the info would help owners and potential buyers.

Lots of great used OldArn saws available for a decent price if you have the patience to wait for a deal and the elbow grease to bring back to life. Cast iron table on my Delta/Rockwell 20" is probably as heavy as your entire saw. Want to get rid of vibrations, get a heavier saw period. That being said, if this does the job for you, is affordable and gets you off of the couch and into making stuff for your self, then that's all that really matters. Thanks for sharing your experience.

The answer is you can't. Mine went back to Makita twice and they had no idea. A lot of these saws have inheritantly unbalanced wheels that need replacement or remachining. I rejected it for a refund. Makita need to concentrate on their own Japanese engineered stuff rather than these Chinese made machines that are clones offered to several manufacturers...

The guide for miter and crappy cut. The throat is 14,01 mm and the guide makes it 12,02 mm which is almost 2 mm so the 45 ° can actually be at 43 ° or 47 ° which is annoying. I wrote to Makita France and of course never answered.

Appreciate you showing the (un)packing and mounting; most complaints have been about poor instructions. So at that point I'm moving in the direction of buying. Then...what's this?? An 18" piece of 6x1" your cutting at 0 mph!! Really?? That's all it can cut? And at slooooow speed. Good job you wrote 'Normal speed' because I thought you'd sloooowed it down for some reason. Yikes. Not impressed with the capacity of the machine one bit. So thank you.

Another tool for you arsenal or creativity, hope it serves you well. If I could ask you a favor. Do a video about making pins, if possible some of the graphic pins I've been seeing lately with animal pictures etc. on them. If you need any advice or questions there's a good guy I met on Facebook knife forums who makes some awesome ones, name is Robert Tucholski, from Poland. You can find him on Facebook and he's an up-and-comer like you. Anyway, thanks for the video, hope to see lots more.

The fence is very flimsy. It tends to deviate at the long end after a few days and then it never is accurate. That is the kind of fence they give on their 10-inch table saw which makes an otherwise good saw an absolute inaccurate cutting machine leading to excessive use of jointer and what not. Makita makes great motors but beats me why they make such bad fences.

Sold mine fora little less then half the price i paid for it a good year before. Was glad to be rid of it, useless machine really! To much vibration, not enough tensioning (i could see the tensioning construction flex inside), very bad blades suplied, a bit better with good blades, max 1/2”, dust extraction doesn’t do anything. Spoke to a makita-seller which reluctantly admitted the problems, and the fact that they had no sollution for it

Oli i bought the Hammer n3800 from felder after long deliberation. The difference is enormous i must say, but the pricetag also i’m afraid. Still have a few isues with the saw, but very small really, nothing compared with the makita which i hated. Depends on where you live also the hammer is from austria, they only make them on demand. Also they have a smaller model since januari. Record power sabre models have a good reputation also (except for the provided blades perhaps, get decent ones) , the other brand i considered was laguna with their 14/12, the price is somewhere between the hammer and record power, but laguna is still new here in belgium, was affraid of issues with maintenance: the closest store is in holland. Hope this helps you.

makita makes quality handheld tools however I have never been impressed with there table saws with exception to the flip saw which is pretty good! there stand alone table saws are terrible with huge fence issues it's almost impossible to lock there fence guides square and keep them locked in place without using a clamp or making your own fence system. I feel there bandsaw will be absolute garbage too just like the dewalts version absolutely terrible! if you want a bandsaw and not pay stupid money buy an old startrite or wadkin you can get them for as little as £500 and are rock solid. I am afraid I would not purchase a makita bandsaw as I can only imagine the issues this thing would have! thanks for the video but this tool not for me :)

you're right. for a carpenter, a saw is not a good turn. but for me it’s all right. I cut sheets of kydeks, mikarta and carbon fiber. accuracy is not needed there. on this I have no complaints to her.
