You need to hear his classic song called “Sailing”. So smooth. This is what’s called “Yacht Rock”, smooth jazzy lite rock from the 70s and early 80s. I do think that identifiable second vocal is Michael McDonald.

One thing that gets overlooked in this song is Christopher Cross absolutely shredding that guitar at the end of the song.
I'm 62 and I love your reactions to the 70's. We had the best growing up years, music and hot rod's! Life was simple back then. No seat belts, could party in parking lots etc.

when Chris was a teenager, Mega Rock band DEEP PURPLE came to San Antonio, Texas, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was extremely ill and couldnt play........they scrambled, and a local promoter said, "I know a local kid who can play every Deep Purple Song" 19 year old Christopher Cross sat in as the guitarist for Deep Purple on August 28, 1970 in San Antonio Texas.

YES!!!! Christopher Cross! Part of what makes this song so great is the fact that Michael McDonald (solo work and lead singer for the Doobie Brothers) is doing the background vocals--and that opens a whole new door. Mr. Video--you must know the songs "Minute By Minute" and/or "I Keep Forgetting"--those are must knows for any music connoisseur; Some of the best Blue-Eyed Soul ever.

My older brother was named after this artist
My favorite part is how invested you are in the songs at the start. You need to know what happened to them! LOL I feel so shallow just listening to the songs for years and years and never wondering why he needed to make it to the border of Mexico!
Oh the lazy days of Christopher Cross. His voice can take on a trip to an tropical island. This was part of the soft rock genre that I just recently found out was called yacht rock also 🤷. Sailing is my favorite go to when I'm stressed and need rewinding 🔥💗
Was at a charity event in LA, he was in the van with us going back to the hotel and sang Sailing to us because someone didn't know who he was!! Surreal moment, you should react to that one too!!
Christopher Cross owned Stevie Ray Vaughan's famous 1963 "Number One" Strat before Stevie bought it. As you can see in this video here Christopher still had a thing for sunburst strats. *_"Vaughan acquired this instrument in 1974 from Ray Hennig’s Heart of Texas Music. When Vaughan took possession of Number One, it was already well worn. What is not as well known is that its previous owner was was another celebrated Texas musician,Christopher Cross. Hennig tells quite a story. As I’ve heard the tale, Cross wanted something “beefier” and traded the Stratocaster for a Les Paul. Stevie had already had a loaner guitar from Hennig, who was pleased to trade it for Cross’ guitar since it was in much better condition."_*
Just got my internet back after getting hit by hurricane Sally! Great song!
This song would be on my premium road trip playlist...windows down and seat dancing happening!
Next would be CCross’ “SAILING” very calming gliding on the ocean!
His voice is so unique, relaxing & chilling. I really like this 💖

Check out Christopher Cross-"Sailing"...one of the nicest soothing mellow cool songs. You will love it. And, these songs are NOT called "Yacht Rock" as the "new" people just discovering these songs have named it. They`ve always been called soft rock, pop, or easy listening.

I love when younger generations listen to the music I grew up with in the 60's and 70's. You learn quickly that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The music from my generation is more relevant today than ever.
Love me some CC. This takes me back to being a kid and my mom listening to this. I was jamming this song way back in the day and still do. CC is a talented dude. The percussion is my fave in this song. Also one of my fave singers ever is on backup in this jam....Michael McDonald, who is still performing to this day. Saw him not long ago with Chaka Khan. If you haven't reacted to him you need to...he's amazing and has a next level voice. I wouldn't be surprised if you know some of his songs and just don't know it. Keep these hilarious reactions coming and keep having fun.

Michael McDonald, lead singer of the Doobie Brothers, sang the background vocals as well as played the precise background instrumentals of Christopher’s song “ Ride Like The Wind “. Back in the day I loved putting the top down on the old Ford Fair-lane 500 and cruising the beach while listening to Chris Cross. Ahh...the memories! Leo, we love ya man! We would have great buddies back in the day, if you had even born yet ! You were born too late or I was born too soon. ☺️👏👏👏🧡👏👏👏🥰

You KNOW the song is good when you can't stop dancing and singing well after the music has stopped. You're too cute, Mr. Video! Definitely a jam back in 1979 and still sounds great today. Christopher Cross is amazing on this track and love my man Michael MacDonald on the background vocals! As you young-uns say today, "This was FIRE!"
❤️❤️❤️ this song, and Michael McDonald (Doobie Bros) sings backing vocals - this is the best of "Yacht Rock"
I love you. I’m suffering from severe depression and you make me smile.
God I love this song. It gives me chills too. This one and "Don't Break My Stride" by Michael whatever his name was were songs my uncle used to play all the time when he was in trouble with the law, lol. A nugget about the time, one of Christopher Cross' big hits was "Think of Laura", which was about Laura from General Hospital; Luke and Laura on General Hospital were a massive hit, they made the cover of Time Magazine and pretty much every other magazine cover, so having him do a song about them was a big crossover hit for him. He did a lot of theme songs, and other people have mentioned "Sailing", which was another big hit of his. He was just smooth as hell.
Also, if you get a chance, listen to Sailing. It’s a song by him that reminds me so much of my Son, who was born & raised in Hawaii & still there. I love him!! Miss Him!! I’d love to see your reaction to the beautiful lyrics and video . Mad luv for you, Honey.
