Clueless on the incredible sound high end amps and speakers actually create! Those Bowers and Wilkins 801's are $50K each! Let me guess you spent $100 on speakers and they sound great too? LMFAO

I've to say you maybe are one of the very few who has made a statement that is so true, the system sounds good and is great if you like it and no two tastes are alike. I have purchased systems beginning in 1974 and I have to say what you've said is so true and if someone tries to tell you differently don't let them. Audio equipment should be what you like and nothing else no matter what anyone else says!

Wow, so impressive. When you get into something you don’t mess around, do you? This is very apparent with the detailing tools and products you use, to your garage setup, to your choice of car, and now your choice of stereo. Kudos to you. What you hear on your stereo is probably what one hears sitting in the recording studio with the band and musicians sorting across from them. Really cool! More power to you and wishing you continuing success so you could enjoy the best things money can buy. 👍

Congratulations on putting together this sublime audio system. You did a huge service mentioning that people should go with what sounds best to them. I was lucky enough to do A/B testing with power cables about a month after I'd lived with my system and the differences from the factory-supplied cable were jaw-dropping. Highly recommended upgrade.

Thanks for sharing Pan. I walked into an audio store with some high end equipment and got to listen to one of my favorite artist play a bass and I could hear finger slides on the strings that I never heard before. True audiophiles appreciate what you shared.

I agree. Some people think high quality audio gear is a waste of money. I think that is complete nonsense. Usually it's those who can't afford systems that say that, because if they actually are honest and get to listen to their favourite recordings on a proper system, it's impossible not to get moved by the music and hear things you wouldn't on a normal setup or your phone. I usually tell people to "be and let be". Be happy for others and if owning a system isn't for you, then that's ok too. :) I have been a music lover for decades, and getting to enjoy my favourite music on a quality setup is really soothing to me.

Wow. I have always dreamed of having McIntosh equipment. I used to work at an electronics store where i got my Rotel and Paradigm system. Nothing even close to that though. I bet your system sounds absolutely amazing in person. Amazing!

Honestly, just find a Funktion-One, Danley, or HSD sound system closest to you.. The experience will be far superior and you'll pay wayyyy less lol

You can get a decent sound on a cheaper setup. If you can afford this setup go for it. Otherwise there are really good stereoamps, cd players and speakers for less money that will give you a really good sound quality. My setup is as follows: ML classic ESL 9 electrostatic speakers, accuphase dp 450 cd player and BMC C1 integrated stereoamp

Your thought process of course is second to none, this system is insane and I hope you enjoy! Just from the demo at the end, I like this system a lot. Thanks!! And that sound clip was just a copyright free song (to make sure I don't get a copyright strike) so it's not even something well recorded or "audiophile grade" by any means. Putting a proper SACD or HiRes stream from a master audio file on there is simply audio bliss!

I listened to the demo on a very nice stereo and it didn't sound good. It totally loses it in the translation. But you have an ultimate dream set up that I would love to listen to and aspire to. I bet it sounds epic in the room. Well done!

WOW! I had a Linn Sondek, Nakamichi Dragon and Yamaha NS-1000's back in the day, all standing on Mana Acoustics supports. Isolation, clean power, and separation really brings out the music. Strictly vinyl pressings from Japan! But, this . .. this is AMAZING!!!

Thanks John! I appreciate the positive feedback. I agree with you 100%. In the HiFi world too often people try to convince others of things like “cables are snake oil” or “vinyl is the best, digital is crap” or “don’t get that brand it’s garbage” etc They should just let people pick what works for them and let them enjoy their music the way they want to, which should be the main focus here: enjoying our passion for music. You could have 100 people in the same room and not two people would have the same exact setup. People have different tastes and budgets. There is no “one system bests them all” type answer. Buy what makes you happy and what makes you tap your feet. :) What setup do you currently have?

That's so cool to be able to switch from tubes to solid state. I think I'd prefer the tubes to be a bit more highlighted like a regular tube amp. McIntosh is the top of the line. Can't go wrong there.

Hehe thanks! Yeah I have shared many of my passions on my channel in past videos through the seven years since I started on KZread. I have a passion for music, HiFi setups, movies, home theaters, computers, sneaker collections, luxury watch collections, and cars. All the guy "sicknesses" as I call them haha. This is probably my 7th or 8th HiFi setup at this point in my life. Every time I promise myself this is my "end game" setup, it never is. There's always something new, or when you save up more for your budget, you can access an entirely new bracket of components. I love listening to music, so having a high fidelity setup allowing me to indulge in that passion is so much fun. What HiFi setup do yo own?

@@PanTheOrganizer I used to own a pair of Devialet Phantom Reactor 900’s for my music, but then swapped them our for a pair of Gold Phantoms. You could argue that they don’t deliver the performance for price, and I myself would not consider them to be audiophile grade, but man I have never since heard such low end performance from such small cabinets. I then swapped them out for a pair of LS60 wireless floorstanding last year and have had these since. I usually stick to all in one active units as I don’t have the luxury to experiment with external amps or dacs, however I have many a headphones and use balanced Drop+Grace dac with balanced thx AAA 789 amp to power them. Music is certainly a passion and people become very confused as to how we can “waste” money on audio equipment. But you can’t put a price on passions, because it’s what we live for. Keep it up Pan. You inspire us all!

Yeah I know Devialet products quite well, I myself have a limited edition sage green version of the new Phantom II, and for its size (it's in my living room), people are always blown away by the power and sound quality that comes out of there, and super low distortion even at crazy loud volumes. It's a great party trick haha. I also had some LS50 wireless speakers (which I reviewed in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pZ6YspqRicyqg7w.html) and those two were great. UniQ technology baby! And I fully agree with you, nobody should argue when it comes to passions. Let people enjoy what they worked hard to achieve and purchase. I think usually, those who say it's a waste of money simply don't have the money to afford high quality setups, so they have to belittle others to make themselves feel better about not owning a great setup. I can assure you that if they won the lottery or had a higher paying job, they would jump on the chance to own a great sound system!! ;)

I have heard the 801 D4s before but not on this specific setup, I can imagine they are the closest to the Nautilus as you can get. I would love to just go through some tracks and hear this in person. Looks beautiful and I'm sure the warmth coming out of that system is something that can only be appreciated sitting in that room. Pan kudos to you and so great that you have the opportunity to put a system like that together. Keep us in the loop if you add or change something as I love your content although I'm sure you probably won't change anything. 😊

Nice looking. I am 100% with you regarding the 801D4. However, all the rest could be replaced with a NAD C658 (which would provide Dirac room correction) and two Benchmark AHB2 amps in mono. I have 801D2 + Halcro DM88 + NAD C658, and the Dirac room correction is extremely impressive.

Thanks Gerald. Yeah the synergy was perfect between the McIntosh reference components and the B&W flagships. Sonus Faber was also a great match, but I've already had some in the past, so I wanted a different sound signature this time.

That's an amazing system. I've been in this hobby for over 40 yrs. When people ask me why I have so much power for my speakers, I say so they aren't driven into distortion. And when I demo and turn it up fairly loud, I get the, wow that's sounds amazing and it doesn't hurt my ears. Yeah, there isn't distortion fatiguing your ears. I have a clean 2.5K of power and two more 800 watt amps waiting to be integrating. It's a great hobby to be in.

Thanks Michael. Exactly. Headroom is important. And that extra power allows to hear all the details even at low volume.

This is probably up there with some of the best systems in the world's personally I have never heard the imaging and staging coming from such a high end system, but could only presume it would be sublime.

My car at the time had a crazy custom audio setup (Focal Utopia mid bass, Alpine Type X three way speakers with crossover, Alpine headunit, JL Audio amps, JL Audio subwoofer, etc) and it made many tuning magazines! I did dB drags for 7 years won good few world finials then rookie SQ for maybe year then I bought the expert black 98 VW beetle that was sponsored by Focal. Use to hang out with Josh Tech and Scott Buwlada. I'll take a look at the video. Maybe I should digitize some old photos and do a collaboration video lol.

WOW! What a HUGE upgrade, Pan. I have heard such a setup here in the States, and it is excellent. One suggestion: pull the B&Ws out into the room, about 3 feet from the front wall. Your soundstage will get deep and holographic as well as wide. Enjoy!

Hehe in my case though, it has nothing to do with a side hustle. It's a high paying job, my investments in the financial markets, and decades of hard work and making smart moves and investments that got me to this point in life. Nothing comes easily. I'm a strong believer of hard work and having goals to surpass. It pushes me to always reach for new heights.

@@PanTheOrganizer Yeah, I was on that path too, then got blindsided by divorce about 8 years ago, which sliced everything I had built in half. It's taken me this long to get clear of child support and start to get my feet back under me. So for me, it will take a side hustle in addition with my decent-paying job (in commercial AV technology) to get to your level, where I want to be. I was actually a financial advisor for 11 years back in the the 2000's. Thanks for being so kind to reply, Pan. I appreciate it.

The 801's with a lot of power behind them are incredibly precise in the bass. Most systems are very mushy in the low frequencies. However you have have immense current availability because when the piston needs to move quickly the electromagnetic force needed means you have to deliver huge currents briefly, so although you only need a few watts to run them normally, you gotta have that giant reserve of power.

Most systems are "very mushy in the low frequencies" not because of the speakers whatsoever, but because of room acoustics. Even basic room correction will take away narrow peakes in bass response from room modes, and after that's done you'll hear bass is not "mushy" at all anymore. After learning how to do room correction, I have not once heard bass in an uncorrected stereo system that even comes close to mine, even in systems literally 20 times the price of mine. Because most of these megabuck systems are owned by purists who never quite understand sound and audio

I was fortunate enough to hear the 801's in San Rafael CA at a fancy home theater store that is probably long gone. Those 16 inch woofers, when powered by 1000 Watts with no fancy electronics are super tight, like being in a room next to the kick drum. The founder of Sony Akio Morita had special 3ft wide speakers put in his ceiling so that he could have the most faithful bass experience. The physics of air require either a very large piston, or a big electrostatic membrane kind to push a large area of air swiftly. Most subwoofers and bass reflex systems are incredibly mushy, as they trade accuracy for volume (that is way late time-wise).@@andrewleigh3

@@andrewleigh3 yes, I listened on my IPad through ear buds. The sound of the system, through my IPad, just didn’t sound that good at all and I couldn’t justify the price this system would cost based on this. Lol.

Mac stuff is pretty easy to keep clean. Quick wipe periodically with a good microfiber is usually all that is needed. Vertical heat sinks on the amps are kind of crud catchers though. Compressed air works there.

i would never “waste” my money on something like this. i have plenty of money and find listening to music on my phone just fine. that being said, Pan worked his ass off for his cash and is allowed to spend in any way he wants. congrats on your new system Pan, you absolutely deserve it!! i’m not surprised that this video and your advice is of the same quality as your detail videos! proud of your hard work! enjoy!!!

In person, it literally blows peoples minds and has their hair on their arms or back of their necks stand up. They can't believe how breathtaking the music is. They ask me to play songs they are used to hearing, and they rediscover those songs with things they never heard before. I also find myself replaying albums I know by heart, just to hear them on this new setup.

I have the "One" album with all their hits. I can't say it's an audiophile grade recording (like an SACD from Pink Floyd for example), but it's fun to listen to! :)

Wow, I have experienced some of the lower lines of B&W and McIntosh and they were amazing. Your setup is off the charts - congrats! So now I'm listening to my lowly Paradigms and Outlaw amp in my basement and filling in the rest with my imagination - ha! BTW - whenever I review any car detailing product I tell people I'm an expert bc you're my best friend and show the pic of the time we met at the Chicago auto pros event in spring. Hahaha

Hi Pan that’s one hell of a system you put together I can only imagine have great its sounds. I had the old B&W 801 series ll back years ago and they were very good. I currently have older equipment but it’s good. BAT VK-500 amp BAT VK-40 Pre-amp and Tallon Khorus spreaders with a Rel sub and it’s pretty darn good. Especially for what I have into it. Congratulations on the new system it’s stunning to look at and certainly sounds about as good as it gets. Simply Awesone!!!

Hi, this looks awesome! As a teenager, i had a nice Pioneer stereo. Over the years, i was lured into mp3 crap sound. But, i just bought a second hand Yamaha HTR 6030 and matching Wharfedale speakers. At first, my wife hated it. By now, she won't look telly without the vintage gear connected! I am so happy, enjoying hifi like i did as a kid spending car wash earnings on my Pioneer...😊

Pan this is incredible and my dream set up to the T. I love Bowers and Wilkins. I currently have the Definitive Technology Bipolar speaker set up on my Pioneer Elite Receiver. I also have an all Focal Flax 550 Component and Focal Flax shallow subwoofer set up /Amplifier in my vehicle. I am a huge audio enthusiast just like you that loves all genres of music. I have to the clarity that amplifiers give just as your McIntosh set up. Love music cranked but also at low volumes with that power sounds incredible. Congrats on your set up!

Thanks Jeffrey! You’re clearly an audiophile too. Nice setup! And you are right. Even though I can crank the volume and it sounds great, I actually listen at lower volumes and this setup still allows for great definition, details, dynamics, etc.

I have watched a few of your videos and while watching this one, I went and subscribed, hopefully now you can go and buy those Sigma cables. Thanks! Since the video I did upgrade the Alpha series speaker and power cables, which are already high end cables, to their even higher end Sigma series. I also added the new flagship Kaleidescape Strato C 4K movie player and Terra Prime SSD movie server to my home theater setup. Uncompressed movies best video and sound quality. Makes my ultra high end Oppo 4K blu-ray player seem obsolete haha!

I used to design systems for Worldwide Stereo in Philly. We had a listening room with essentially the setup you have here (but the top end Mac and B&W from 15 years ago.). I fondly remember just chilling listening to Pink Floyd’s the Wall 2 master and just getting blown away. I spend more time in that room than designing. 🤓😜

Yessss! I have a great SACD copy of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album and it sounds freaking nuts on that setup. I fully understand how you must have felt! And this latest generation flagship B&W series is on a completely different level. Audio bliss. :)

Good video and I envy you congratulations! Back in 1979 through 1980 I work at Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida and we had a tri-amped McIntosh system with tubes .I was absolutely blown away back then and still am to this day. Once again congratulations and thanks for this informative and cool video.

Btw. Thank you for all the advices and videos you’ve done on car detailing. Watched many of your videos in the past, but realized I’d never subscribed. I decided to buy my own DA polisher and came across your videos again. I was pleasantly surprised to find this video of you being an audiophile while going through your playlists looking for the video on how to wash microfiber towels, etc. 😁 Being an audiophile just means you enjoy how technology and audio/video equipments can bring you closer to your passion. Like you’ve stated throughout your responses to others; it’s very subjective. Personal preference, hearing capabilities of an individual, and how passionate you are about something can/will determine your opinion on a subject. Not everyone is gifted with golden ears, but one can train or be trained to hear the subtleties and nuances of sound. It’s sad to see negative comments questioning someone else’s ability/talent/skill in hearing when we know human brain functions and hearing capabilities are not made equal. The discussions between believers and nonbelievers on certain hi-fi equipments/accessories have been going on for a long time. You have support from me and many others here. Enjoy and experiment as much as your wallet, wife, and hearing permits while on this planet😀. Live your life to the fullest (within your budget of course).

Beautiful system! I couldn't imagine having that system without an analog front end and source material. I am sure it sounds amazing, but please demo an awesome turntable with some original analog pressings of your favorite music. I can't imagine that you won't be surprised with the difference on that rig.

Thanks. But I did multiple tests with vinyl, and although I “understand” those who love it, it’s just not for me. I even had the opportunity to do many listening sessions on a 2M system (which I featured on my channel) and that had reference material including a Kronos turntable worth several hundreds of thousands, and I still prefered listening to quanlity digital music on that setup too. A master recording DSD from an SACD or from a high res stream on Qobuz/Tidal is my preferred way. If I get a turntable one day, it will be for fun.

Dude! Congratulations on this acquisition! This is a sick setup. You have no need to go to a theatre ever again.

Beautiful system, Pan! Have you considered having your room acoustics measured and getting custom treatment tuned for your room? Fellow audiophile and KZreadr, John Darko, did that at his place and continues to sing it's praise and impact vs. investing in further component/cable switching. Also, to keep those RELs looking beautiful, Turtlewax Ice Seal n Shine works like a dream. Enjoy your music and keep up the good work.

Thanks. I’m not sure if you watched the entire video, as I specifically mentioned that I went to the extreme for room treatments. I hired an acoustician that took actual room measurements. He provided a report to the team who did all my custom acoustic panels, bass traps, clouds, etc. You can clearly see the panels in the video. And I plan on having a professional audio calbrator (world class) to come tune my home theater and at the same time I’ll have him tweak my HiFi setup.

Wow most impressive system, my dream speakers are the same you own. I have listened to alot of different brands and b&w are my absolute favorite. My sourround system is only b&w, absolut joy to listen to.

Oh my god. This system not only looks fantastic but sounds much better than most ive had the pleasure of listening too. I looked at a mcintosh set up around 6 months ago. Clearly in the uk this system would set you back around 150k. I envy you sir. The b&w 801d currently are 32k each in the uk. I cant express how insane this system is. You surely must have done alot of homework to see how well they all float together. Thank you for showing this extreme set up. Pitch perfect 😊

@@PanTheOrganizer after looking into listening to my music in the best way I could and being a fond dj enthusiast I went the opposite way and decided on Devon dj6000. I know its not a good way to go but my dj gear with the mixer and monitor speakers means I can sit and try and mix the un mixable. In the good old days many moons ago I had the numark cdj 1000, ppd mixer, kaos pad 2 and a kork electribe with valves in a window. The set up I have now is no where as good as what I'd like and if money was no issue my dream set up is very similar to what you have. Mcintosh are the bees knees. I'm currently out shopping my friend but once home will see what gear I have set up and let you know. To me your the god of audio! Thank you for letting me see the perfect pitch!

Hi, pan a lovely system you got there ,some years ago i had the shunyata cables i had 4 of the pythons and the big anaconda ,i agree with you that cables make a difference, but i know, a lot people dont agree with it but each to there own,after a few year's with those cables, i moved on xlo Limited edition, they stayed in my system ever since.happy listening 😊

Very nice set up Pan! 👍🏾 I'd looking at reducing the height of that middle stack if possible and get 3 relatively equal height stacks instead. The higher they go the less stable they'll and also pick up airborne vibrations from the sound. And get a vinyl rig worthy of the rest of the system in there too! 😎 It's to put your finger on it, but there's still something magical about physical media, especially vinyl. 👌🏾

That's what I follow you Pan! Because we share the same passion, detailing and audio. For my part I have been working around 20 years in the Smart homes business in Puerto Rico. When I begin to work in my first audio/ automation store I became a fan of B& W and until have my home theater with the 600 series 2 speakers from the beginning of 2000s.

How about your Revel Beryllium in comparison with the Diamond tweeter? What was your decision to use one in theater and the other in HiFi Stereo?

Revel Performa Be measure perfectly and are known to be great home theater speakers. I wanted a different sound signature for my stereo setup, and a better synergy for my McIntosh amps and components, and the B&W were such a great fit. But one could also use the Revel in a stereo setup and be blown away. All these speakers are high end for sure. You can’t go wrong.

Superb setup, especially those B&W's....enjoy.

Well done sir! I’m a professional audio engineer, have published music for over 23 years and I master and work with musicians to shine on these types of systems. I’ve be running B&W Nautilus for over 20 years. My 805s are still in my A/B mastering chain. You did it right my friend. I’d love to see a nice turntable in your setup.

BTW Pan I coated my and my wife's cars with the Draslic Holy Grail. It definitely is the slickest coating I've used. I topped it with Hybrid Solutions Max Wax which I find lasts a long time for a wipe on wipe off product with great gloss for a sacrificial lamb layer. Thanks for getting availability for your subscribers.I see getting 5 years + out of this like the G-Techs CSL. easy the way I take care of my vehicles. Appreciated you.

Thank you for presenting your system. This is definitely top notch. Not sure about subs, as the amps and speakers seem to be well sufficient. In my study, not much music has tones below 40 Hz.

Once you here a proper setup with high quality subs meant for use in a HiFi application, you can’t go back. Those who know, know. Watch a few videos from REL Acoustics and you’ll understand what I mean. The 2 million dollar setup I presented a few months ago had a line array of six of the same subs as I have, and believe me they added so much presence and impact to music. The speakers on their own were worth 350K and have massic subwoofers, and even that setup definitely got raised to the next level with the dedicated subwoofers.

OMG, that's the most beautiful set-up I've ever seen, well done Pan :O :O

That set up is insane man... congrats! Any reason you have all that gear between your speakers? If those were set up on the side youd probably getting even more pinpoint imaging than you already get.

That's how most high end setups are presented. The gear in the center. Including the 2M dollar HiFi setup I presented on this channel. The room has already received treatments, and the speakers were properly positioned. It doesn't matter if the gear is in the center or off center. I prefer the symmetry of having it where it is. No worries about the sound. The system sounds absolutely amazing. As one could imagine. ;)

I am a huge fan of REL subs. I had a strata III bought in 2005, it's amp gave up the ghost in 2021. I ended up replacing it with an S/510. What a difference 16 years of technology improvement makes! I do expect I will add a second at some point, but even with just the one, the musicality is greatly improved, and when run at high volumes can pressurize a 50' x 21' space surprisingly well. Jealous of your front end electronics, and have heard those speakers. You did well, there should be many hours of listening enjoyment there.

Well, you went all out didn't you! Thats one expressive set up. While everyone is playing with their set ups, you come in schooled everyone with the biggest toys on the block. Loved the set up dude super impressed. Those amps are my fav as got a pair of 801's my self but need some McIntosh amps now.

Massive respect for the level of dedication here. Though I never understood why you would want tubes in your listening equipment? When so much is spent on precise delivery of the recorded material, the tubes by design change the sound. In the music production and mixing stage tubes are often used to distort with intent, but putting them on the listening equipment is, in a way, backseat driving the music producer and mixer.

I still have my 30 years old Technics SU-V470 and sound great... Also my Technics Sl-1200 turntable from 1979 still works good and sounds fantastic.. It's not a problem to put together a system when you have an unlimited budget... Building a system that sounds good and for little money is an art....

I know where you come from. When I started with my first HiFi system (I'm now at my eighth setup), I had a much more limited budget and so I had to get the most value for my money. I was worried more about the most important components: speakers and amp. Less worried about extras like DACs, power cables, speaker cables, power conditioners, etc. So I have seen quite the progression in levels in my adult life so far, and I really work hard to indulge fully in my passions, so it's nice that I get to enjoy this level of setup. But even this, as crazy as it is, doesn't hold a candle next to my friend's 2M setup which I covered in this video: kzread.infoydRetDfgICg?si=DpHJtTkLecc-dxFU
