I just got this set up yesterday. I had a heck of a time updating the firmware. After several failed attempts I figured out that you can't use your mouse or keyboard if it's plugged into the integrated USB hub ports while the firmware is updating. A simple solution would be to connect your mouse or keyboard to your pc directly, or wait until the firmware update has completed. I hope I save someone the frustration of figuring it out. Also, I can't find the eye comfort setting. I saw it in the menus as a demo before I updated the firmware, but it's missing after the update.

I have been using an older LG EG9100 OLED for years since it came out as my daily monitor for work and gaming, and I love it. I use an xbox controller for gaming, and sit on my couch with wireless hardware. I have zero burn-in, and it still works as well as did on day 1. I don't think I can go back to anything else besides OLED. I actually like the dimming you mention as it saves my retinas from blowing out with those ultra bright whites. It's most likely for burn-in protection. I'm surprised he can sit so close to this without turning the brightness down quite a bit. I would prefer a 32-34" for sitting without 3-4 feet, and am waiting for those.

7467 hours of responsible use on a 48" CX as primary monitor and never a reason to regret it's selection. The picture still looks perfect and zero IR/BI, though I've taken routine precautions from day one to prevent IR/BI... A solid black desktop, zero desktop icons, and a 3 minute signal-off screen saver are all I've used in addition to the built-in features (ABL, pixel shift, etc.) Other than that, it's been non-stop gaming, streaming, and movie watching to hit 7000+ hours in only one year of use. Much of that time is power on with nothing displayed on-screen (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of total power-on time is actual on-screen time). I'm actually kind of curious to see how long it will last before I can see a noticeable difference in picture brightness or quality. OLED is the pinnacle of gaming displays whether using a TV or a purpose built OLED monitor. I paid the same for the CX as this monitor, so there's no difference from a pricing perspective. IMO, I think I'd rather have the Smart TV features over a dedicated OLED monitor with no built in apps because I use it for both gaming and streaming.

Because of this review, I scoured out for this monitor as soon as possible and found the last remaining stock in my country and hurriedly went to the store and bought it. Best purchase I've ever made so far in my life! 😁 Been using TN, VA and IPS monitors for years and they does not come close to OLED. For the longest time, i've always thought HDR was just marketing gimmick but after experiencing it personally coupled with OLED, It's like seeing the world with a set of new eyes. I almost shed a tear when I ran 4K HDR content in KZread. 🤣 TL;DR, Definitely a life changing experience if you're so used viewing crappy displays all your life. Thanks Linus for the recommendation! 😉👍

10:27 How one spots a man of culture. I remember doing Attacker vs Defender runs in that game, I built a super fragile, insanely powerful economy (a SINGLE attack would destroy the entire base lol), and could build dozens of the prototypes at a time. I built a ridiculous number of units, including an ungodly number of Support ACU's. In spite of having an insane amount of forces, and slamming them into their defenses, I actually failed to win, everything got wiped out, except for the Support ACU's, which weren't really doing that much...until they died. That day, I learned the power of staggering explosive martyrs, we won the day.

11:45 I would've loved more info on why change the scaling from Display to GPU. I'm guessing it's because of the nVidia warning sending the wrong resolution may damage the monitor, but then why would they leave the default to Monitor if GPU scaling is safer? I did try that on my Gigabyte M32U. It took 3840x1440 just fine. I played Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep..blah, blah, blah (the stand alone version). Once it ran with that ultrawide resolution, it stayed as an option even after I reverted my global resolution back to 3840x2160.

Man, looking at all the cool tech gradually becoming more mainstream makes me want to hold off on upgrading from my TN panel. I love good looking stuff but I kind of just want to wait a couple years and get a nice oled or qd oled Also at least in the US, using a monitor in a way that doesn’t damage it, including modifications, CANT legally void a warranty (Magnuson-moss warranty act) no matter what conditions the warranty says. I’d love to hear if there is a Canadian, European, or Australian equivalent too.

There’s just one advice I would like to give about the cinematic black bars: In order to avoid “computer turtleneck”, you could lower the displayed pixels part of the screen and in doing so, double the height of the top black bar and make the bottom black bar disappear, if that monitor has that option.

never in my life have I given anything more than a passing thought to these dreaded "black bars" that seem to guide so many-people's decision making. One thing I do know is that all display prices are in freefall and a 32" IPS gaming display I am watching dropped in price twice over the weekend and although it is sold on NewEgg, the price was so absurdly low I still felt it was a scam. It wasn't, it's just what is happening with what seems all electronic equipment. With OLED gaming displays, I want to know how screen burn is addressed, it's all I care about as the way in which I game, my displays will be put in situations in which if they are susceptible to screen burn, they will. I don't want to see a ghost of my Valheim lobby for the next 2 years...

The price is a little eye-watering. But it's actually not that much more than what LG OLED TV's of that size are going for, typically. And the feature-set that's more PC-centric is quite nice. I've got a 50" LG 4K LCD that's been serving me well as a monitor since 2015. It might be time for an upgrade. Though I admit, this monitor is 3 times the what I paid for my old one.

Currently using my LG C9 55" for a gaming display. Whilst I'm a bit concerned with how much burn in I'll have after a couple of more years of using it, I am hoping that it'll hold out well enough for a few years before I feel the need to replace it. Hopefully by then we'll be seeing MicroLED making more of a consumer impact. I was hoping that this display would last me until a good 4K 120hz or better MicroLED came out at a reasonable size (55" or less) and price (comparable to this C9 display). Bit optimistic, I know, since there still aren't any real consumer-level MicroLED TVs yet.
