Hey clay I think those 2 things together on the front of the boat are to hold your anchor line when anchored, they clamp up on each other when your anchor line is between the 2 of them...

that little black contraption that you showed seems to be for an anchor. I'm pretty sure you would feed the relatively thin anchor rope through the two black things and that allows for you to not drift too far away from the anchor point.

With your various Ticers & Lures I noticed some just had a split ring OR no split ring to tie your line to. Can I suggest putting on a split ring AND a swivel so to tie your line onto. By doing so your line doesn't become twisted & the ticer or lure will have more of a wobble when being wound in making it more attractive to fish. I hope this makes sense. Cheers

Just a guess; but, the two cogs on the side could be either - #1: tied off for an anchor line; or, a “Jerry rig” version of an extra hand hold for loading or carrying…….. first guess is for an anchor or tie off line - out of the way of fishing parameters……. Looks good mate - I use a kayak for Crappie fishing around the docks here in Middle Georgia - USA……

Hi Clay. My name is Inti. The family and I have been following your content for a little while now. We enjoy it a lot! I grew up in Golden Bay and often lived off my ability to catch and hunt. I left the Bay in the early 2000s and now live in the Far North, on our own slice of paradise. Your videos are perfect, as they reflect my values and everything that I am teaching my young kids, with the added bonus of being able to show them my old stomping grounds.. like the Cobb, Abel Tasman, Riwaka, etc. It's frankly uncanny how often I recognise the landscape before you mention where you are! In any case mate, keep up the great content!! - And if you are ever up these ways, feel free to come stay with us, - the fishing is insane :)

Nice one, long and faithfully may it serve 🙂 I have a Tootega Pulse that I use for kayak surfing, a Prowler 13 that has been my fishing platform for the last 4 years, and I recently bought my daughter and I a Perception Triumph 13 each. I christened mine 2 weeks ago with some good fish for the family. My daughter has yet to christen hers 🙂 I found my Prowler didn't track as well with the fish-finder transducer, so I removed it and gave it to a friend. I wish you fair weather, tight lines and great success on your new kayak !

Great choice of kayak , good to fish from and having a rudder is a must . Over summer we head out wide from Newplymouth chasing Tuna . Check the rear cover in the fish storage area behind the seat for leaks , when we are trolling for tuna we have the rods in the rear rod holders ,loosen your drag a bit and put the clicker on 🤙

I love your new kayak. I recently bought a Fishmaster 4.3 which I am still learning how to use. Like you I wasn't sure what to do with my paddle. It took me a while to find out that paddle holding bungee beside the seat. Your new kayak has this as well. It is between the carry handle and the rod holder. If you pause this video at 13min46 seconds you can see the bungee just above the letter O of Ocean Kayak. Place the centre of the paddle under the bungee and it holds the paddle along side the kayak.

Im a little bit envious that the fishing is still so good in new zeland, its getting a bit cold in the northern states so most of the fish are beginning to migrate southwards where its warmer. Hopefully I can still get a couple of good bites before the fall season's over.

Nice Kayak, tip on the anchor - connect the chain to the top instead of the normal anchor point, lay it back it along the side and cable tie it to the usual anchor point (can put a small cut in the cable tie for a weak point too). You'll thank me if you ever get it stuck on a rock
