How about the "Blood Angels" from Warhammer 40k since they have an addiction for Blood called the Red thirst. :D In 40k the Blood Angel's were also referred to as a Legion, so it may be better if we call this new colony the "Blood Angels Chapter" as they're a new chapter of Dracula ants living within Antopia.

I think the name "The Kindred" would work very well! In Vampire the Masquerade, that is the term used for the vampires and would work perfectly for the Dracula Ant colony I feel!

Name the terrarium "Sanguine Sanctum" and the ants "the Scarlet Covenant"

You should totally lean into the Dracula/Vampire theme: Name the enclosure Walachia after the home country of Count Vlad Dracul, The Impaler and name the colony The Nosferatu Empire!

i like their name, dracula. What a cool name!

I vote we call them the dragon legion. Despite how it got adopted into vampire lore (as a mistranslation actually, Stoker thought it meant "devil") Dracula actually means son of the dragon, which was a knightly order that vlad dracul and his father were both part of. Also the idea of a blood sucking dragon is really cool.

When the colony moves to a permanent terrarium I think it should be called Transylvania

I found Ant Canada while doing research for a novel. I stayed as I became invested and intrigued. Now, I'm considering buying the equipment to start a colony. Ant Canada has a fierce sales pitch.

Hurray for the return of the Dracula Ants, and awesome start to the new year. Gotta admit, I missed these little guys. The Blood Legion was one of my favorite colonies from the past. Also, gonna throw a name into the selection ring. How about: The ShadowFangs! As a reference to their preference of love of dark places and their vampiric nature.

Oh please name them The Nosferantu.

I was thinking that "The Blood-tooth Domain" sounded pretty spectacular for their colony name.

finally-- a return of an ant species that I've been waiting for! I really enjoyed your previous videos on the first combined colony of Dracula ants you raised. Learning that they would not only feed from their larvai, but their pupas as well as the hemolymph of prey items? It was really interesting. Glad we get the chance to discover a little more. :)

Larva: But I don't WANNA bleed! Worker: I was bled, my big sister was bled, and her big sister was bled, too! It builds character!

These are one of my favorite ant species, So glad to see them on here!

You should get some. I have two colonys of Amblyopone australis (a species of dracula ant). And the ones that I have are not gamergates but have multiple queens. One of my colonys has 2 queens and the other has 3.

Maybe you should name them The Crimson Clan or the Scarlet Swarm. It’s pretty self explanatory on why. I think they would both fit well for the Dracula Ants. And I’m sure you know why.

Mikey, is it possible to have multiple colonies connected to a terrarium so that you might create an environment where these ant could mate and then sustain themselves? Like using the set up you have now but connect it to a large terrarium and then also do the same with a few other Dracula colonies?

I have tried this with The Black Panthers, two colonies of Asian Bullet Ants (Diacamma rugosus) who also operate on a Gamergate system but I didn't actually get to see if cross-breeding worked seeing as I had to let the colonies go when I downsized. The two colonies did last a long time, though which could mean it worked or it could mean the gamergates lived long. I'll try again with this colony! Ant love forever!

Hey! i found this type of ant in my backyard under a log, i kept them to my terrarium

It's good to see Dracula ants on this channel again! Honestly blood legion was such a perfect name for a Dracula ant colony, I don't think you should give it up!

The terrarium u make for them must be named "Hotel Transylvania" Edit not my idea the above one The ants colony should be named "The Crimson Fangs"

These ant’s definitely seem like a very unique species and I am intrigued at their feeding habits.

There is a game that you might really like it's called Empires of the undergrowth it's basically you get a ant colony owned by a bunch of scientists and your aunt colony can get any ant instead of just one species of ants so I recommend it and you would surely love it

I think you should name this colony "Children of the Dragon" seeing as how Dracula translated into English means son of the dragon....

I think Dacians would be cool, it was the name of Romania in Roman times, and Romania is where both Vad the Impaler and Dracula are supposedly from.

I think the name BloodBenders would be a cool name for the new colony or Dracula ants

The little ant putting soil on the roach is way too precious

Vampire Empire could be the name of the colony, and the Blood Lake could be the name of the terrarium.

If you ever plan to think of a new colony name if you ever return the name "Blood Legion". My idea would be: "New Blood Republic" or "New Blood Empire"

I think a good name for this colony would be "The Vein". It sounds ominous and eludes to their blood sucking nature.

Happy 2023! Here are some of my best name suggestions that go with their appearances and behaviors: "Storm Cloud Empire", "Cave Kingdom", "Devil Fang Empire:", "Vampire Ants", "Dracula Empire", and "Cavern Miners". Even though "Cavern Miners" describes most ants that dig underground, "Cavern" kind of does sound like caves and rocks and darkness, and the "Miners" part of the name is for how quickly these Dracula Ants found the starting tunnel and made their nest. #AntLoveForever!

I remember when you got the blood legion I was so fascinated about it and same thing now

“He doesn’t bite, he bites *THEN* sucks.”

Give them a terrarium with a castle, if its safe for them. Call them The Blood Letters ( from blood-letting)

I have another idea, scarlet fang empire!

Maybe u should name them the “crimson killers” because of their reddish colour or the “bloody fangs” or the “life stealers”

For ant keeping these - would it not be possible to have to separate colonies that, when the time came, you could connect via tube to allow males to be drawn by the pheromones of the other queen to mate with her allowing you to a) actually see what the male ants look like and b) keep the ant colonies going in perpetuity?

you would need several colonies in order for this to not become inbreeding. its a delicate balance between trying to keep the numbers up and trying to not have them breed an overwhelming amount
