I Fed a Pigeon To My Fire Ant Colony

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

My massive and ravenous fire ant colony, named the Crimson Knights, have grown so big now that they've already begun attempting to escape their volcanic island paludarium ant farm setup (Volcania). So, to help keep the fire ants well fed and amply distracted, I decided to give them a dead emerald dove, a type of tropical pigeon, that I had been saving until the ant colony was ready to have it. With it being Canadian Thanksgiving soon, I felt now was the best time to give them the bird. But I couldn't believe what secret plans the fire ants had up their sleeve the whole time. Hope you enjoy this week's episode. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

I actually have seen local pigeons and doves with similar wounds on their throats and chests, that’s the sign that they were attacked by another bird like a hawk or falcon. Surprisingly enough they can typically survive the encounters provided that it’s not too deep of a gash , doves and pigeons are very resilient.

You're not weird, every single person reading this at least in the states has a fridge or freezer (unless homeless or something) as right now my freezer is full of dead stuff. Chicken breasts, pork loin, sausage, hamburger etc. Also potatoes (they're not growing anymore so are "dead") in the fridge, eggs (they're dead too) all kinds of dead stuff. Too much to count, a fridge is like a corpse or cadaver storage unit. You're supposed to keep dead things in there. If not, _then_ it would be weird.

We’d love to know what happened with the teaser you left previously about them producing winged ants to spread new colonies. And what ever happened to the ant riding face huggers?! We never found out what species they were, if they were just passengers or some form of parasite.

didnt miss today, pretty cool! Never expected pigeons, thought it would be something like a feeding montage. This also gave me an idea, what if you made a feeding montage type of video, that is just watching the ants eat live(like streaming videos of them eating, this could also mean that you can have multiple cameras).

I can’t wait for the cow video I’ve worked with them all 14 years of my life but to see how long it takes ants to devour them would be cool with a intro similar to this coming up “welcome AC family in this video we will be giving my fire ant colony the crimson knights a treat which is a cow carcass donated by my neighbor, the cow died of natural causes and did not suffer any pain during death so rest well my friend”

@@AntsCanada oh yeah, legal hunting actually helps species in the danger list as it allows to cull the population so endangered species can have more food and space versus the invading species. Money that the government (local and federal) gets through taxes selling hunting gear and licenses goes to projects in protection of the environment (example the Puerto Rico parrot). There are some doves to not hunt and doing so may incur in fines of a few thousand dollars.

I’ll be honest, there really was quite a few surprises in this video, I don’t blame people for thinking it’s both disgusting and surprising! As for an idea of a Halloween feast for the fire ants, or maybe even the marauder ants, I suggest 2 or 3 mice covered in both honey and jelly. That would surely be a great idea! Also, you know how ants can’t see the color red? Well to make the ants be able to eat the jelly I suggest giving them orange or black jelly that of course have different flavors, if you ever have them that is… I hope you do though… I’m not sure what flavors of jelly you have. 😅🫤 Side note: If anyone is reading this comment my goal is to get 150 likes because why not! 😉🤞

I just thought that maybe the next thing you could feed one of your ant colonies could be some regional fish? As in those native to the ants' area in question, just in case a type of fish might be unhealthy to a species of a different location; we wouldn't want to risk doing that to them. I think it would be pretty interesting to see how they might like some fish meat. 👍

Good day AntsCanada. I always enjoy your videos and it's amazing to see how the ants go on with their lives and reveal their unique behaviors. I'm from South Africa and have an idea of what you can do to prevent escapes. We have an insecticide called Fendona 6 SC, which we sprayed around our door and window frames. Any incest that walks over that barrier dies within minutes. 9 months was passed since my father sprayed it and the barrier was still active enough to kill a scorpion before it got into our house. We also don't have any ants crossing that area where we applied the Fendona. But feel free to investigate more about this insecticide and if you are able to find it in your stores. Hopefully it will prevent future ant escapes and prevent unwanted ants to enter.

@@AntsCanadaA lot people think thats the end, but just like how the stars have an end to their lives, what's left over always get recycled into something else. Everything will always be recycled into something else. It's all just energy in one form or another, which can neither be created nor destroyed, just transformed. In this case: dead bird = food for other creatures.
