There's a way to open the truck bed manually in a case when there's no power. There's a slot next to the rear license plate where you stick your key in. This will manually open the truck bed. Great truck! I plan to get the 2021 later this year.

The button on the right is decent control. That is not exclusive to diesel it is a at4 specific addition for off road use. The diesel breaking takes place behind the scenes and does not have a specific button. Great video and I love the truck. Hoping to get one someday.

“they’ll jack their car door up and not my truck, which is kinda nice.” 😂👍 I put a big ol solid bump step hitch on the back of mine, just for piece of mind if some dummy tails too close. Beautiful truck, hope they’ve come out with some aftermarket products for the truck bed since this post.

I almost bought one of these but that engine is still too new for me. I went with a diesel zr2 instead. They've been around a while and seem to be pretty reliable. Coming from a tacoma as well, I was hesitant at first to buy a gm product, but so far I'm really happy with it. 3k miles or more a month and no issues yet.

Good Video and review. Agree on a number of the things regarding the GMC infotainment system. Mine is pretty much attached to my phone for navigation and the other options as I refuse to pay all the costs. The remote start app sounds like a good option though, I had a third party starter put in mine and just set the dials as needed before getting out of the truck. Good luck with it. Look forward to seeing what you can do with it as I would like to do a few more tings with my Canyon to make it easier to camp with. CtL

I’m told there is a cap just to the right of the rear license plate. Pull that cap and there is a key hole. That can be used to open the tailgate if the battery dies or if there is an electrical malfunction. I haven’t verified yet. I just picked my AT4 carbon pro duramax this week.

Good luck with your new truck. Always fun to get a new vehicle. But as far as that new engine is concerned I probably would not buy a first year anything from anyone (Ford, Fiat, Toyota...anyone) to give them time to surface and address bugs. This is not some theoretical concern to me. Years ago I did just that. Did not work out well. But I learned quickly. Never happened again. Looking forward to the mods.

I have a 2020 Silverado RST Z71 with the 3.0 duramax and 10 speed. The 10 speed is not an Allison transmission, its the same 10 speed that is used in the gas trucks and was a joint venture between Ford and GM. Its very similar to the 10 speed Ford uses in the F-150 as well as countless other vehicles. I love my truck though, I average 27-30 mpg daily and even 11-13 pulling a 35ft travel trailer. I'm already at 23k miles no major issues, your check engine light I can almost gaurentee you was from sitting on the incline, these trucks have very sensitive wheel speed sensors. Parking on any type of incline especially without the e-brake can cause them to throw several codes and the check engine light will go back off quickly. There is a service bulletin your dealer can perform to help the issue though. Anyways, good luck with your truck!

The bed is sweet, however, I opted for the non carbon bed for my AT4. They aren't selling a ton of em (cost prohibitive) and not many bed accessory companies will be designing products for them and if they do, it's very expensive.

Size! I meant to mention this in the video, but I'm sure it'll come up plenty more. But the main thing was cabin space. It's always been a tight sqeeze trying to get a car seat in the back. So full-size was a must. And as much as I like Tundras, their fuel economy leaves much to be desired.

Are you still liking the truck? Have a 17 Raptor and thinking of trading for the exact same truck (with the MT 18” wranglers thought ... tech, 3.0, driver assist II, carbon, etc) BUT I want to retro fit my truck cap and am discouraged ... is there a rear view camera on the tailgate? Maybe I should wait for one without the carbon box? Thanks for the video!!

There’s a camera on the tailgate, but the one that feeds the rear view mirror/camera would be covered up by a cap. And no caps work with the CarbonPro. There’s virtually nothing to attach to.

Make sure your sd card is fully inserted. Do not eject it while the truck is powered.

Working at a GMC dealership I have seen this caused by either a bad sd card or one that was removed while truck had power. Try resetting to factory settings and if it doesnt fix it you will need a tech to update the card

What's that off/on thing at 13:06? The motor shuts off when you come to a stop? But you can override it? Why does the engine shut off/purpose?

It's an annoying thing that manufacturers began doing to save fuel while idling... When your truck comes to a complete stop for even a second the engine will shut off and restart once you begin to move again

The 5.9 liter Cummins diesel is known as the most reliable engine and long lasting and Cummins and dodge will tell you it needs major maintenance done at 185,000 miles, so timing belt, injectors on this truck, no biggie, cheaper than payments

You would’ve never stopped kicking yourself after getting the Raptor if the MPGs were that important to you. If you ever need to tow more, I’ve got the 2017 2500 with the big Duramax which will pull your house off of its foundation and drag it down the street and I’ve gotten 24.5 MPG on the highway although not towing anything then. Towing MPG doesn’t matter in my opinion anyway.

They’re not all-important. But MPGs are far more important to me for trips NOT hauling. I don’t haul a ton, but I do have trailers. I plan on taking a lot of long road trips in this truck both for work and leisure.

Thoughts on this truck vs a tundra? Narrowed down to these 2

I have a Tundra. Only thing they have in common is that they’re both pick ups. Gmc is light years ahead in tech etc. Tundra has is heat for reliability. If I had to replace my Tundra today would most likely be an AT4. Tundra is just a basic tried and true truck. Nothing fancy about them.

Any ownership updates? Reliability? Diesel powertrain warranty is fairly stout I see!

Great looking ride. But don’t expect 500,000 miles unless your willing to get items like injectors changed, fuel pumps and who knows with that engine. Love me some duramax. LB7

The old 5.9 liter Cummins diesel is known as the most reliable and long lasting engine and even Cummins dodge will recommend at 185,000 miles do major engine maintenance, so a belt at 150,000 and other maintenance, no biggie
